Synopsis Sinopsis
Ever since their creation in 1940 until their dissolution in 1961 the Basque group Los Xey was one of the most famous singing groups in the world. Not only did they triumph in Spain but also in America from Argentina to the US but they left a lasting impression for many generations, even inaugurating Mexican television besides taking part in numerous films and recordings.
In this documentary we will recover their memory in the 21st century accompanied by their modern day counterparts the Golden Apple Quartet.

No sólo triunfaron en España, sino también en América, que desde Argentina hasta los EE.UU. recorrieron durante 9 años, incluso inaugurando las televisiones mexicana y cubana. Dejaron una huella imborrable durante muchas generaciones
Este documental es un intento de recuperar su memoria en el siglo XXI acompañados de sus homólogos de nuestros días los Golden Apple Quartet.

Their excellent voices, repertoire, humour, etc. What were the musical keys to their success? How did it change their lives? What was behind that could be defined as the American dream?
They lived in troubled times, that is, the post-war from Peron’s Argentina in the 40s to pre-revolutionary Cuba, where they met the lowest classes and the most powerful elite, not to mention communities of Basque emigrants and republican refugees. We want to narrate the social context of their successful musical career.
9 years touring America, some with their families and others made there. Sabin Olaskoaga and Xipri Larrañaga portrayed the human side in detail in their memoirs.
Sus excelentes voces, el repertorio, el humor… ¿Cuáles eran las claves musicales de su éxito? ¿Cómo cambió este sus vidas? ¿Qué había detrás de lo podríamos definir como el sueño americano?
La época que les tocó vivir fue de años convulsos. La posguerra, desde la Argentina de Perón en los 40 hasta la Cuba prerrevolucionaria, en los que ellos trataron con las clases más humildes y con las élites más poderosas, además de las comunidades de vascos emigrados y de refugiados republicanos. Queremos contar el contexto social en el que desarrollaron su exitosa carrera musical.
Nueve años viajando por América, algunos con sus familias, otros las formaron alli. El lado humano que retratan con detalle Sabin Olaskoaga y Xipri Larrañaga en sus memorias.
