Newton Park is a place of wonderful contrasts, and life on campus demonstrates this only too well. From the unique blend of history and modernity in its buildings and facilities, to the mixture of tranquillity and vibrancy in the campus community - Bath Spa offers it all!
So if you want peace and quiet to do some thinking or relaxing in the beautiful campus grounds, you’ll always be able to find a quiet spot - perhaps walking around the lake at Newton Park or sitting in the Italian Gardens. But you’ll be sure of a lively buzz in the Students’ Union, the Refectory or café Commons when you want to get back to socialising with friends.
Open Days are a great opportunity to get a feel for the University. Talk to our Student Ambassadors about what it’s like to study here. They’re happy to help and answer any questions you may have. Go on... ask them!

2. Top 5 for creativity Bath Spa University has been voted one of the top five creative universities in the Which? University Student Survey 2016. Bath Spa University prides itself on its creativity, culture and enterprise, and aims to be a leading institution in these fields.
7. We know the meaning of the word ‘community’ At Bath Spa we know the meaning of community - it’s what makes us genuinely different. We’re relatively small in size, and you’ll find that you’re known and valued as individuals – so you’re a name, not just a student number.
3. Excellence in teaching Our academic team is dedicated to high-quality teaching, and will do all they can to give help and guidance in your learning and development.
8. Historic campuses Bath Spa University is steeped in history, with beautiful period buildings and a breathtaking backdrop. But look behind the jaw dropping architecture and you’ll see a wealth of ultramodern technology, and the latest in teaching methodology.
4. Flexible courses With Bath Spa, you can expect a full complement of creative, cultural and humanities-based courses, alongside social sciences and sciences. We’ve worked with businesses to create courses that are flexible and relevant to employer needs.
9. International connections We have formed partnerships with businesses, organisations and institutions in every corner of the globe, giving students a valuable insight into the world beyond education.
5. Great career preparation Through our partnerships with businesses, you’ll get access to a wide range of career pathways and employment opportunities. We’ll start you thinking about career preparation from the word go.
10. Safe and secure And where could be better to do it than in the world-famous city of Bath? The city has reputation for being one of the most enjoyable places to live in the UK, and it’s ranked as one of the safest student cities.
6. Caring ethos There’s a welcoming and supportive approach and we work hard to promote an ethos of care. Students have access to all sorts of services – not just guidance and support from tutors, but advice on anything from practical issues, like finances and disability support, right through to emotional matters, like homesickness. 9
Sion Hill Bath School of Art and Design is near the centre of Bath at the top of Sion Hill with exceptional views across the city. Sion Hill campus is the main hub for the School providing workshops, studios, seminar rooms, a lecture theatre and specialist library. Working into the evenings, it is possible to see the most amazing sunsets across the valley and sometimes a deer or two in the School grounds. In the city centre, Fashion can be found in the enviable location No 4 The Circus, which is just a moment away from the Fashion Museum.
Sion Hill timetable
Additional Dartmouth Avenue artists studios are in the city’s student quarter, and the research facilities are in the very impressive setting of Corsham Court. From age old, artisan printing techniques to cutting edge 3D printing technology, our facilities are some of the best to be found anywhere in the world. In each discipline we encourage depth of subject understanding, yet a multidisciplinary approach, and the range of exceptional equipment and workshops in wood, metal, ceramics, textiles, print, photography, plastic, casting, paint, fashion and digital technologies support this experience.

Students’ Union The Students’ Union helps make sure student life runs smoothly – they’re there to support, develop and entertain students outside of studies. So, as well as representing students and making sure the student voice is listened to and acted upon, they manage all the clubs and societies, and run a busy social programme.
Space to study Our libraries on each campus provide modern, well equipped facilities and professionally qualified librarians to support your studies. As well as traditional library materials, there’s also a wealth of electronic resources such as electronic journals, electronic books and online services to help you access high quality information for your university work.

This may be the first time you are living away from home, so you will want to be sure that you have all the creature comforts, are in the right location and are living with people you like. We can help you find what is right for you.
Learn and Earn Working part-time while you study provides great benefits, funding your living costs, developing skills and testing out different types of employment – and it looks great on your CV. Our JobShop will help you find a part-time job that fits in with your study priorities.
