This business organization was incorporated as the North Battleford Board of Trade in 1906 with H.W. Detwiller as the Charter President and R.R. Earle, the Commissioner. In 195657, the Board of Trade changed its designation to the North Battleford Chamber of Commerce. In 1978, Battleford joined with the city and the Chamber of Commerce became known as the Battlefords Chamber of Commerce. In February of 2022, Battlefords Chamber of Commerce underwent a logo and name change to the Battlefords & District Chamber of Commerce, and has grown with the communities, supporting a membership of more than 325 by a 15 member elected board of directors, the Chief Operating Officer and an Operations staff to deal with the many, varied requests for business assistance from the local community and potential newcomers to the Battlefords.
Chambers of Commerce are catalysts in their community and the Battlefords & District Chamber is no different. The local organization has several key priorities to serve the needs of its member businesses. Some of the priorities include: workforce, economic and community development, business promotion and education, and more. The Battlefords & District Chamber of Commerce is the “voice” of business in the Battlefords.

AWANA Boys and Girls Club Territorial Drive Alliance Church
The AWANA Club first started in 1950 and today more than 4 million children and youth from around the world participate in the program. We are proud to offer this program in our community and we are committed to providing a safe and fun environment for the kids of our community. Awana is a program for boys and girls from two years old to Grade 12.
AWANA Club meets each Tuesday at Territorial Drive Alliance Church. Club nights begin in early September and run until the end of April with special theme nights throughout the entire year. Some bigger events include a Christmas party and the Grand Prix, an event where clubbers race wooden cars that they can paint and design for trophies and medals.
Each club evening is divided into three parts — game time, handbook time, and group time. Game time encourages good sportsmanship and cooperation. Handbook time focuses on scripture memorization and understanding the Bible. Each clubber has an opportunity to recite their memory work to qualified leaders. Group time is a time where clubbers in the same age group hear a bible story and learn lessons from them that apply to their lives.
Girls and boys from all denominations are welcome.

Battleford Quilters
The Battleford Hand Quilters group was formed on March 6, 1974. The traditional art of hand quilting continues to be enjoyed by 10 members who meet each Wednesday from 1:00 to 4:30 p.m. at the Alex Dillabough Center.
Visitors are welcome to join us to observe, put in a few stitches and have a cup of tea/ coffee. New members are always welcome. The Battleford Quilters will take orders for quilts to be hand quilted. The customers provide the quilt top, the batting and backing. All the hand quilting is stitched by volunteers. Each hand quilted quilt has The Battlefords Quilters logo on the back. Most of the proceeds are kept in the community, with donations to the Battleford Tot Lot and other organizations.
Members have enjoyed demonstrating hand quilting for special occasions at the Western Development Museum and have previously hand quilted there during Museum Days in June and Those Were the Days in August. If you are interest in hand quilting or in having a quilt hand quilted, please contact our club.

Battlefords Community Players
Bringing live theatre to the Battlefords and area since 1952, we welcome new members at any time and offer training if needed. Remember, there is more to community theatre than acting; we also need people to build sets, create costumes, lighting, sound or who might just want to help back stage or front of house. We need everyone interested to give us a call.
Battlefords Community Players have been part of the scene for more
than the 70 years shown above, our history that goes back to 1914, although very sparitic through until the ‘50’s. We presently offer a four show season and each production offers two evenings of show only and 6 evening of dinner theatre and we often partnered with other groups and companies to provide entertainment for events and shows. The club also presents many new plays, some written by local playwrights, offers a summer theatre experience and this year will offer both a student and adult summer program.
BCP is a member of Theatre Saskatchewan and has been part of what’s happening in theatre across Saskatchewan since 1933 when Charles Tubb of North Battleford became part of the founding board of the Dominion Drama Festival – Saskatchewan Division. That is also the same year that Cameron Ross McIntosh of North Battleford presented the McIntosh Cup for the best Canadian play at the 1933 festival. That same cup is now sponsored by Battlefords Community Players and is presented for the best play at Theatre Saskatchewan’s annual competitive festival.
In 2010, Battlefords Community Players purchased our own building for rehearsal and storage and after renovations, upgrades and construction in 2017 we began using our facility has our own little theatre. In last couple of years we have done all our production in our own space and hosted other companies to present live theatre, music and dance in our wonderful space.
During the COVID restrictions we reduced our audiences and followed all protocols to keep everyone safe and still able to enjoy live theatre. Our 2022-2023 season will be announce in May of 2022 and tickets will be available as soon as the dates and shows are released with a special deal for those purchasing season tickets. We will continue to do everything we can to provide a safe and wonderful place to enjoy theatre in the Battlefords.

Special Interest & Recreation
Battlefords Wildlife Federation
Battlefords Wildlife Federation (BWF) is a non-profit organization that is supported by dedicated volunteers with leadership roles to educate in conservation, wise use of our fish and wildlife, as well as preservation of natural habitat for our future generation.
In 1929, Tom Coburn from North Battleford and Stan Naden from Regina started the Saskatchewan Fish and Game Protection Association to help stop excessive hunting and to slow down the depletion of habitat for wildlife, and to establish controls on fishing. On Feb. 1st, 1932, the name was changed to Saskatchewan Fish & Game League and by 1934 boasted 14 branches throughout Saskatchewan with one located in North Battleford. Due to the organization expanding scope & activities, the name changed in 1966 to the Saskatchewan Wildlife Federation, which then, changed the associated branch name to Battlefords Wildlife Federation which continues this history and conservation in our community today.
BWF has contributed more than $163,000 towards Habitat Trust Lands, preserving habitat lands that is held in perpetuity for wildlife and future generations to enjoy.
On November 13, 1975, a joint committee started the development of the current Goose Projects on River Valley Drive. The first birds for the stocking of the project arrived July 20th, 1975.To this day, BWF continues to care for this project keeping the water levels up and refurbishing goose nesting baskets. This has become a paradise for bird watchers and nature lovers.
Battleford Wildlife Federation has a scholarship that awards one student every year who is registered in an approved college of natural resources and/or environment.
BWF’s youth snow shoe program is to encourage our youth to enjoy the outdoors. Our snowshoes are available for only youth groups/schools at no charge and focusing primarily on Grades 1-6. Get fit, stay fit or just have fun and enjoy the outdoors!
Horns & Hides for Habitat program is based on donation of antlers and hides by the public. They are then sold, and the proceeds have been instrumental in purchasing, retaining, and enhancing tens of thousands of acres of critical wildlife habitat in Saskatchewan. Donate today!
BWF sponsors boys and girls that are wildlife members (aged 12-15) for a hands-on learning in a wide range of outdoor activities including: archery, canoeing, trapping, survival skills, and many more exciting activities.
In 2019, BWF started a Pheasant Program that is incorporated in schools for our youth to have a hands-on experience to learn about wildlife and habitat by raising pheasants from eggs to day-old chicks. BWF raised them till their adult age and release them onto habitat lands with the schools that where in this program. Our pheasant pens are located across the road from the Goose Projects.
BWF’s George Hooey Wildlife Collection is on display at the BWF’s clubhouse with over 230 taxidermy specimens. For a tour call Daniel at 306-317-2452. BWF also houses an indoor shooting range, for target shooting of handguns and .22 rim fire rifles. Range is open Thursday evenings at 7pm (except summer months). For more information contact Kevin at 306-445-5680 or Daniel 306-317-2452.

Club DJ
Trinity Baptist Church
Club DJ is our church children’s club program designed for children from kindergarten to Grade 6. Our motto in Club DJ is “Hearts That Desire To Please God” and our aim is to encourage children to have hearts that desire to please the Lord. We truly believe that we would raise up a generation with such hearts that we would begin to see things happen in our nation that would have no explanation, except that God did it!
Club DJ is based on the covenant relationship between two friends David and Jonathan. We read about them in the book of I Samuel. David was a shepherd boy, the youngest in a family of eight boys and Jonathan was a prince, son of King Saul. Everyone would have thought that Jonathan would be king but God had other plans. Instead, God chose David to be the next king of Israel. You might think that Jonathan would be jealous, but instead, Jonathan made a covenant with David and promised to do all he could to help David become all that God wanted him to be. What a friend! Jonathan gave up all he had for David’s sake, and the Bible says David became a man after God’s own heart and that the Lord was with him.
We want the children to know they also have a friend who gave up all He had to see them become all God wants them to be. Jesus, the Son of God, left His home in Heaven to come to earth as a little baby. He died and rose again to make a way for each child to have a personal relationship with Him, so they can become all God wants them to be.What a Friend!
Club DJ at Trinity Baptist Church runs from September to April. Please call the church at 306-445-4818 for details as to cost, time and night.
Each club night consists of Bible stories, scripture memory program. Bible quizzing, take home Bible lessons, great crafts, fun games, and an exciting achievement awards program which includes the Club DJ Catalogue.

Ducks Unlimited Canada www.ducks.ca
Saskatchewan is renowned for having some of the most abundant and productive waterfowl habitat in North America. Situated within the pond-rich Prairie Pothole Region, ducks hatched and raised in our province disperse throughout the entire continent and beyond.
Saskatchewan’s wetlands and associated upland areas provide other farreaching natural values too, supporting biodiversity – including species at risk – and storing carbon, preserving water quality in lakes and rivers, and buffering against floods and droughts.
It takes a collaborative approach to conserve these critical habitats, and Ducks Unlimited Canada’s work here builds on the spirit of community embodied by the people of our province.
Working alongside agricultural producers, industry groups, governments, and the public, we strive to ensure wetland values are appreciated and accounted for, and support our partners in achieving a sustainable balance between conservation and development.
What began in 1938 with efforts to drought-proof the Prairies through large wetland projects has evolved over the years to a conservation approach that better needs the needs of waterfowl, wildlife and the Saskatchewan people.
Today, Ducks Unlimited Canada conserves vital natural areas through a suite of landowner programs designed to provide both environmental and economic benefit across the working landscapes of our province.
For more information on DUC’s work in Saskatchewan, please visit ducks. ca/Saskatchewan or call 1-866-252-DUCK.

Youth leadership is one of the many ways that the Scouts Canada program helps youth develop into critical thinkers and team players, better prepared for success in the world.
Along the way, youth are surrounded by committed and passionate Scouters who create a safe and inclusive environment for youth to discover the best in themselves. A Scout is confident, capable, and empowered to create meaningful contributions to creating a better world. Scouts is the start of something great. Join today! http://scouts.ca/join

Battlefords Early Childhood Intervention Program
The Early Childhood Intervention Program (ECIP) is a province-wide network of home and community based services provided to families with children from birth to school-age who experience or are at risk for developmental delays. ECIP’s work to enhance child development, support families, and enhance community connections.
ECIP organizations share the vision that,“All families have the capacity to meet the developmental needs of their children within the community of their choice.”
Children who are involved with ECIP’s are often delayed in reaching age-appropriate, developmental milestones such as walking, talking, eating, playing or interacting socially. Early Interventionists make referrals to an Early Childhood Psychologist, Speech Pathologist, Physiotherapist, Occupational Therapist and others when necessary. Staff begin by building relationships with families and assist them in working toward mutually-identified goals for their children.
Join us for ECIP Week September 11th - 17th in recognizing the over 3000 families/children that have been served. Check our Facebook page for more information, including our staff and events that are hosted.

Habitat for Humanity
- Battlefords Chapter
In November 2012, My First Home Inc. of the Battlefords signed an agreement to operate Habitat for Humanity - The Battlefords, under the umbrella of Habitat Saskatoon. Habitat Saskatoon serves as our mentor and provides full administrative support including sending out tax receipts. This allows the local committee and volunteers to focus on the home build itself.
Homes are built using volunteer labour and donated materials. Working families who are selected to receive a home must contribute 500 hours of “sweat equity” and enter into an affordable and sustainable, no-interest mortgage, held by Habitat Saskatoon.
Our first build was a duplex for two single parent families. It took two years to complete from the groundbreaking in 2015 to the families moving in during the summer of 2017.
We have been gifted a lot in Riverview for another build but before this can begin funds must be raised. We have dwindled to a committee of three and without more community members stepping forward to serve on the committee this build won’t happen.

Saskatchewan Health Authority
– BATTLEFORDS & AREAThe Saskatchewan Health Authority (SHA) launched on December 4, 2017, transitioning 12 former regional health authorities including the former Prairie North Health Region to a single provincial health authority.
The SHA is the largest organization in Saskatchewan, employing over 44,000 employees and physicians responsible for the delivery of high quality and timely health care for the entire province.
We are driven by the commitment to improve front line patient care for Saskatchewan people, and we are working together to better coordinate health services across the province to ensure that patients receive high quality, timely health care, wherever they live in Saskatchewan.
Establishing one provincial approach to plan and deliver health-care services will break down geographic boundaries and service silos, to provide more consistent and coordinated health-care services across the province.
The work to unify the health system under a single organization and coordinate system-wide transformation, for the benefit of people working in the system and those that use it, is a multi-year journey in collaboration with patients, health-care providers and partners across the health system.

Territorial Youth Services
Territorial Youth Services is an organization designed to help troubled teens (ages 12-18) with situations and problems in their lives by providing support, direction, etc., to the specified need.
Our day work program provides a means whereby a youth can earn money to pay off fines or restitution through diversified work projects. At the same time youths are learning work skills, behaviour patterns and discipline which will help him or her in later life. In both programs there is an emphasis on life skills and recreation.
