High-Visibility Vests Now Required Inside Vehicles A new regulation now makes it mandatory to have a high-visibility vest inside vehicles in Germany. The vest can be red, yellow or orange, but must comply with German or European standards. Drivers found without a vest in their vehicles may be fined. The vest must be inside the passenger compartment of the vehicle and not in the trunk. Only one vest per car is required, but one vest for each person is not discouraged. Fines can be as high as 1,300 euros.

Vehicle Registration appointment line In light of the recent back-log at vehicle registration, USAG Bavaria has created an appointment line to help streamline the process. Customers can make appointments for 30 days out for 8-10:50 a.m. The office will accept walk-ins from 11:30
a.m-3:30 p.m. The vehicle registration appointment line is DSN 475-6752, CIV 09641-83-6752. Customers can call from 8 a.m.-3:30 p.m., except from 11-11:30 a.m. (lunch), to make appointments.
ID card section requests patience during peak season Due to system issues the waiting times to receive ID Card/DEERS services can be expected to be up to 3 hours. Please make appointments online at https://rapids-appointments.dmdc.osd.mil/appointment/building.aspx?BuildingId=411. Priority of services is as follows: 1) Individuals with Appointments, 2) Pin Resets, 3) In/Out Processing customers 4) customers needing new cards/DEERS enrollments. This prioritization of services is due to the length of time each service requires. All non-appointment customers must sign in at the waiting room. The sign-in roster will be removed once we meet capacity for the day's walk-ins. Our customers must understand that services must be completed by the end of the business day. Due to funding, we are not authorized to maintain employees beyond their scheduled duty day or during lunch. We will strive to see all customers but request your patience and understanding. We apologize for the delays and appreciate the community’s understanding as we work to return to full operational strength. 2CR Soldiers who require PIN resets, In/Out Processing, DEERS updates and unblocking of CAC cards must now go to BLDG 306, Second Floor, Rose Barracks effective immediately. 2CR Soldiers requiring new or replacement CAC cards will still be serviced in BLDG 244, Tower Barracks.
Vilseck Veterinary Treatment Facility – Limited Appointments Due to an unexpected departure of their military veterinarian, as well as the long-term absence of their civilian veterinarian, the Vilseck Veterinary Treatment Facility (VTF) must reduce its appointment availability. Until a new military veterinarian arrives, which likely won't be until September, appointment times will be limited; however, appointments for health certificates and vaccinations necessary for PCS travel will be prioritized. Pets requiring surgery or sick-call visits will be referred to off-post services or other military veterinary clinics. The VTF will open during normal operating hours for questions, clearing, registration and over-the-counter sales, with hours being: 8 a.m. - noon & 1-4 p.m., Monday-Thursday; and 9:30 a.m. - noon &1 - 4 p.m. on Fridays. Appointments can be made or questions answered by calling the VTF front desk at DSN 476-2370, CIV 09662-83-2370.

AAFES Celebrates 119 Years On July 25, the Army & Air Force Exchange Service marks a historic milestone, celebrating 119 years https://www.flickr.com/photos/aafespa/14443911618/sizes/l/ of serving Soldiers, Airmen and their families. On July 25, 1895, General Order No. 46 established the exchange on military installations, directing post commanders to set up an exchange at every post. Since then, the Exchange has supported U.S. troops in 14 major contingencies, starting with the Spanish-American War and most recently with Operations Enduring and Iraqi Freedom. Throughout the years, the Department of Defense’s oldest retailer has brought a taste of home to the frontlines while supporting service members’ families on the home front. In honor of the anniversary, the Exchange is planning in-store events worldwide and a special MILITARY STAR® card promotion. Shoppers who use their MILITARY STAR® card on July 25 will receive 5 percent off their in-store purchase (certain restrictions apply).

Medieval Market The Mittelalterlicher Markt, Nabburg’s biennial fest takes place Saturday July 19 and Sunday July 20. Located in Nabburg, half-way between Weiden and Regensburg, this medieval market attracts thousands of visitors from all around Europe. Drive over the bridge and you enter another world; one of yester-year with jugglers, falconers, fire-eaters, slipper makers, knife grinders, and many other historically gowned people. Games-of-skill competitions attract visitors, as does the aroma of roasted ox floating through the streets and alleys of thousand-year old city. It’s no wonder that visitors say that Nabburg old town with its picturesque scenery and the many historical buildings is an ideal place for the "fair" and has a significant role in the success of the market. This year’s market again promises lots of authenticity, variety and entertainment. For more information, go to their website at www.mittelaltermarkt-nabburg.de. The event takes place from 10 a.m. to 10 p.m. on Saturday and 9 a.m. to 7 p.m. on Sunday.
