It’s the end of the day and it’s nice and cool. The Jolly family are cycling through the forest with Granny and Grandpa. George and Millie see some colourful tents under the pine trees. “Aw! They are so lucky! Why don’t we ever go camping? It’s not fair!” 34

Back at the house, George and Millie hear noises coming from the garage…

“Abracadabra!” says Grandpa. George and Millie ask, “What’s that?”

“It’s a surprise!” says Grandpa. “Your surprise doesn’t smell very nice!” says Millie.

Tap, tap, tap… Grandpa is too busy to reply. “Shall we help you?” asks George.

“Oh! It’s a tent!” shout Millie and George. “It can be our house! Can we sleep inside? Please, Grandpa, one night, just one night!” Grandpa smiles. 35

“Come on, let’s go!” says Millie. “You are in a real rush to get to bed!” laughs Dad. “What about dessert?”

But George and Millie hurry to the tent with their sleeping bags and their cuddly toys. “We will be cosy in our little nest!”

“The ground is really hard!” says Millie. “Did you hear that noise?” says George. “AAAAAAAAH!” yells Millie. “What’s that?”

They hear, “Quack! Quack!” Phew! “You frightened us, Leonard!” says George. Suddenly Millie says, “I need a wee…”

“What, had enough of the tent already?” asks Dad when he sees George and Millie snuggling up to Grandpa. “Er… We don’t want Grandpa to be scared all on his own in the night!” explains George. “That’s kind!” says Granny. “Happy camping under the stars!” 37
