To keep our students engaged, we break up our day with team building musical exercises, games, and arts and crafts. Musical exploration is always exciting for our campers as they look forward to first hand experience with unique instruments such as the didgeridoo, ukelele, and various percussion instruments. The week flies by as our campers work towards their final performances, both in their sectional groups, as well as their performance within the band as a whole. (510) 843-6157 • www.campchrysalis.com Lee Tempkin, Director Now in its twenty-eighth year, Camp Chrysalis has developed a distinctive approach to environmental education, offering children (8.5-17 years of age) rich experiences that combine recreation, learning, crafts, and personal growth. We camp near and explore three spectacular environments: Big Sur redwoods, Mendocino coastal tidepools and Sierra Nevada mountains. We focus on active study of the environment to develop natural science skills as well as appreciation, and on basic camping and wilderness skills. Group singing is a special pleasure. Each session includes 32 campers (12 for backpacking) and eight experienced staff. Fully half are girls!

Each Friday the full day campers will put on a show for families to show off the skills they learned during the week. We aim to provide kids whose parents have or have had cancer with a summer camp experience that gives them a chance to be kids. Campers enjoy a week filled with sports, arts and crafts, cooking, and drama-related camp activities. Camp Kesem gives campers a chance to have fun and create friendships with other kids experiencing similar situations. MORE INFORMATION Camp dates are August 16-21 at YMCA Camp Jones Gulch.
