With “Tourism for All”, a nationwide uniform certification scheme was created, which provides the necessary detailed information for different needs groups. Based on this information and the filter options, tourist offers can be specifically selected and checked prior to departure, so that each guest can assess what offers are suitable for them.

Independent and especially trained survey staff collect comprehensive data and accessibility information on site, which is checked against the “Tourism for All” quality criteria. The quality criteria have been developed over many years as part of a coordination and cooperation between Deutsches Seminar für Tourismus Berlin e. V. (DSFT) and stakeholders and tourist organisations In addition, at least one member of staff in each case is familiar with the special requirements of different groups of guests.

As part of the “Tourism for All” certification scheme, more than 2,000 companies and offers have now been certified nationwide. These include accommodation, leisure and cultural facilities or even entire locations.

The Schöllkrippen natural adventure pool lies in a beautiful scenic location. In the summer months, it is a popular destination in the upper Kahlgrund, especially for families. Visitors can expect a natural diving rock, a water grotto, a wide-wave slide and a six-metre deep plunging pool.

The largest contiguous area of mixed deciduous forest in Germany is perfect for delightful hiking tours and can be experienced in a special way for young and old: the adventure trails in the Spessart and their stations are barrier-free. Explore different aspects of nature and culture, playfully and using all the senses: “height and gravity” in Rothenbuch, “nature and water” in Mespelbrunn and “balance and lightness” in Mönchberg. The latter lures visitors with action fields featuring basket swings, balancing discs, wheelchair seesaws and balancing ropes.

Located in the border triangle of Hesse-Bavaria-Thuringia, the UNESCO biosphere reserve of the Rhön Mountains offers sweeping views over rolling mountain peaks with meadows and forests as well as steep slopes on towering pillars of basalt. The Red and Black Moor and the plateau of the High Rhön are unique biotopes in which plants and animals thrive that have long since disappeared from other low mountains. With a permanent exhibition, the Haus der Langen Rhön biosphere centre provides information on the UNESCO biosphere reserve of the Rhön Mountains. A large mosaic of 75,000 individual images shows that there are many individual aspects that make up a complete picture. The interactive exhibition with numerous “hands-on stations” explains the development of the landscape and presents various sustainable development projects.

On wooden planks, the “Black Moor” nature trail leads through the sensitive biotope. Along the footbridge, you will find 23 information boards with valuable information about the Black Moor. The boardwalk is around 2.5 kilometres long and is suitable for wheelchairs and pushchairs.

The Maria Bildhausen Abbey is a very special place, nestled in the rolling hills of the lower Rhön Mountains. In the abbey tavern, you can sample lovingly prepared delicacies from the abbey garden. The abbey tavern and the hotel serve as a working group for the disabled people’s workshop. The abbey is both a place to visit and to stay. The historic fruit and bee garden is an oasis for nature lovers. On clear and richly illustrated information boards you can experience the topic of bees using all their senses. When taking a walk, you can enjoy nature or just relax.

Fine drinking and modern architecture In Wartmannsroth, in Germany’s first “Destillathek” (a distillery tasting area and shop), fruit brandies, gin, whiskey and others play the lead role. Initiator Franziska Bischof learned the distilling trade from her father and is carrying the business on into the fourth generation. Since 2015, she has been marketing her products under the new line Franziska – Die Brennerin (The Distiller). In a new building made of solid concrete, embedded in the green of the landscape, the tasting area and shop is located above a small hill. The façade made of coloured architectural concrete reflects the colourful sandstone floors of the region. Inside, the high-percentage pleasures get your heart racing.

Time travel through history

Located at the foot of the Kaiserburg, Nuremberg’s medieval old town offers numerous cafés and beer gardens along the Pegnitz, as well as numerous shopping options. Here you can enjoy both the famous Elisenlebkuchen, as well as the small Rostbratwürste as “Drei im Weggla” (three in a bun) or the typical red beer. Experience the whole world of railways

In the only preserved merchant’s house of the late renaissance, the city museum in the Fembo-Haus has over 950 years of city history on show. A tour guide for the blind and their helpers as well as a media guide with audio induction loop in the section “Crown – Power – History” are available.

The Documentation Centre is dedicated to the time of the Nuremberg Rallies and the Nazi architecture with the example of the Nazi Party rally grounds. Over 1,300 sqm, the permanent exhibition “Fascination and Violence” deals with the causes, connections and consequences of the Nazi dictatorship.

The DB Museum is the world’s oldest railway museum. Under the umbrella of the Deutsche Bahn Foundation, it keeps alive all eras of German railway history. Various storylines provide information on social, cultural and economic developments and give an outlook on the future. In addition, 40 original vehicles await guests in two halls and in the large outdoor area. A special attraction is the model railway, where more than 30 trains travel through landscapes and settlements during the demonstration.

The Tucher Castle brings to life the world of the Nuremberg merchant families of the 16th century. The high-class collection owned by the patrician Tucher family displays handicrafts, furniture and tapestries as well as paintings from the 15th to the 19th century. In the modern thermal baths of Bad Steben, guests will find unusual bathing experiences over 10,000 sqm. Unique sound and light effects allow guests to experience different pools, grottoes as well as the relaxation gallery using all their senses. Adjacent areas such as the wellness dome with brine floating pool and Kneipp facility, the sauna area with a natural bathing pond and large sauna garden and the health centre of the Bad Steben spa complete the offer. Access to the pool of the large bathing hall and the radon baths at the health centre is possible with the help of a wheelchair and bath lift. Since 2018, an outdoor pool has been connected to the spa, which guests can enjoy in summer. In the midst of the green

The centrepiece of Bad Steben is the 40-hectare listed Kurpark with its historic columned Wandelhalle. Right next to this, visitors will find the well-known Klenzebau, which was built by the architect Leo von Klenze as a bath house. The Walhalla at Regensburg and Liberation Hall in Kelheim were also designed by him. The extensive green area is characterised by the meadow and temple springs as well as facilities such as the elegant spa building or the stylish music pavilions. These are stages for concerts, theatres, cabarets or readings. The Weltenburger Enge with the imposing Danube Gorge is one of the oldest nature reserves in Bavaria. The church of the abbey was built by the Asam brothers and is considered a masterpiece of Baroque architecture. Picturesque Altmühltal between rocks and the river

On a boat trip through the picturesque Altmühltal valley from Kelheim to Riedenburg via Essing, the bizarre rock formations and the wildly romantic natural spectacle fascinate visitors. The romantic town of Essing with its lively Tatzlwurm, one of Europe’s longest wooden bridges, hugs the rock. Here you can experience art and nature along the broad and gravelled art trail along rock and river. The Crystal Museum in the three-castle town of Riedenburg has the largest collection of rock crystals in the world on display. Delightful Hallertau Abensberg, famous for its asparagus and hops, forms the “northern gate” to the Hallertau, the largest contiguous hop growing area in the world. Abensberg’s quality asparagus is well known far beyond the boundaries of the district. In spring, you can experience the asparagus harvest up close. Germany’s southernmost town, Oberstdorf, is idyllically located in a valley basin at 815 metres. The Ammergau Alps Nature Park offers many ways to regenerate body and mind. Around the Soier See, the thrilling moorland can be explored over three themed trails using all your senses – on the Seerundweg with a barefoot trail as well as the moor or bird trail. All paths are interconnected so that the length of the tour can be adapted to personal needs. The moor educational trail with moor treading pool, for example, provides information on the formation and effect of the bog and at the same time allows an active experience of the healing earth. The Parkhotel am Soier See is open all year round for a retreat. Thanks to its mild water temperature and large sunbathing area, the Soier See is also a popular bathing lake. In the Bad Bayersoien spa and tourist information centre, guests can receive further detailed information about the Soier See.

Experience the moors up close

The Hörnle – also known as the local mountain of the Bad Kohlgrub municipality – has four fascinating mountain peaks. One of them is the Zeitberg. With the Hörnle suspension railway, equipped with double swivel seats, guests glide comfortably towards the Zeitberg. Between enchanting forests and fragrant meadows, you can also enjoy a view of the beautiful foothills of the Alps. At the top, visitors can expect a barrier-free circular walk and nature trail with various rest and play areas as well as a 3D natural cinema. For much of the year, the Hörnle Hütte pampers guests with Bavarian delicacies, thus ensuring an all-round mountain experience. Whether for families, nature lovers or foodies.

Apart from the natural scenery, guests in the Ammergau Alps Nature Park will also find impressive historical treasures and demonstrations. The famous Oberammergau passion plays stretch back almost 400 years. Every ten years, the villagers reenact the suffering and death of Jesus as a story of hope and salvation for the world. The district of Fürstenfeldbruck can look back on an eventful history dating back to the high-medieval period. The Jexhof Farm Museum and the Furthmühle Egenhofen give fascinating insights into the rural living conditions and traditional crafts around the year 1900. Guests are shown the original interior of the house or the technology behind a flour mill, for example. Both museums also offer special tours, promotions and events. In the former abbey brewery, today you can find the Museum Fürstenfeldbruck. Here, historical evidence of the abbey, the city and the Romans, Celts and Stone Age people is preserved. Except for the archaeological department on the 3rd floor, all rooms can be accessed by wheelchair or similar.

The concentration camp memorial is a place of remembrance and learning, which keeps alive the memory of events in exhibitions and numerous educational programmes. A tour brochure in easy-to-understand language and an app in German sign language is offered.

In Dachau, an electric scooter can be borrowed free of charge on a daily basis. This gives everyone the opportunity to go on excursions into the diverse nature of the Dachau region. Along the course of Maisach leads the approximately two-and-a-halfkilometre-long path, the “Maisach Lifeline”. Whether with a walking frame, wheelchair or pushchair – the path makes the shores of this natural space between Bergkirchen and Günding accessible to everyone for relaxation. The flora and fauna, eleven information boards and several adventure stations provide plenty of variety.

Danube Gorge at Weltenburg Between rocks and water

In the heart of Bavaria, in the district of Kelheim, the broad Bavarian Danube runs through a narrow, stone lane – the Danube Gorge at Weltenburg. During a cruise, guests can experience various rock formations directly on the water and on the 100-metre-high mountain slopes, embedded in glorious mixed forests. A unique natural spectacle that radiates a perfect sense of peace.

More unusual stories from Bavaria As far back as the 19th century, the aristocracy became interested in this picturesque region, which is why King Ludwig I declared the area a natural monument in 1840. Although the inland skipper Renate Schweiger has known the area from an early age, she is still impressed. “What fascinates me most is the journey down from Weltenburg to Kelheim – entering the Danube Gorge. There is a moment when you see a closed layer of rock in front of you. Just before you pass it, you really think you’re going to hit the wall – it’s the most exciting moment for me every time.”

Bavaria is, quite simply, traditionally different. And that means a wealth of special experiences for holiday makers. Bavaria’s ambassadors offer fascinating insights into their lives: For example, in the Fichtel Mountains you can find a romantic wild stream where edible herbs grow.
