Future Career Plans The Commission would like to get a clear idea of how the proposed qualification will assist you in your planned career. Please give brief details of the skills that you expect to gain from this award and of your professional plans once you return home on completion of your award. Objectives during the award (200) I want to get involved in the development process of my country. During the award I will focus on exploring the basic avenues of urban planning issues for well-shaped development of Bangladesh. My aim will be to establish myself as professional researcher and do research which would be nationally as well as globally effective. The PhD program from UK will not only teach me the latest trends and technological knowledge on urban planning, it will also give me hands on experience and training to enable me to work on highly sophisticated systems and services that exist today as well as give me a solid grasp and capacity to continue to work in this highly dynamic field in the years to come. Moreover this opportunity will also give me a chance to interact with fellows from diverse professionals and cultural backgrounds drawn from all over the world. Therefore this will enhance my global awareness greatly and give me exposure and a lot to learn outside the university campus as well. Career plans in the 5 years following the award (100) I am now working in disaster management project as professional urban planner and I have keen desire to continue in this profession in the future. I will devote myself by implementing new skills to formulate sustainable policies and disseminating the up-todate knowledge in developing human resources of Bangladesh. In the next five years, I will conduct professional and research activities to develop a ‘Development Priority Index’ for ensuring climate change induced disaster responsive planning. Moreover, I want to concentrate more on climate change, urban poverty and disaster management with a view of spatial solution to ensure planned development of Bangladesh.

Long-term career plans (100) I want to perform researches related to the climate change adaptation and disaster management. In the long-term, I will try to establish myself as a faculty member in any reputed public university of Bangladesh. I also want to work with some international research based organizations. I do believe that, upon the completion of the PhD programme with the Commonwealth Scholarship, I will be in a position to collaborate with different national and international development agencies. Thus my ultimate future aim is to increase the scope of collaboration to contribute in the production and dissemination of knowledge and information related to urban planning.
