Motivation Letter The new generation optimists are looking forward to renovate a world of harmony through proper analysis of earth, environment and human interactions. My strong yearning is devoted to join in the rally of these optimists, contribute my insights gathered from urban planning and geo-spatial technologies backgrounds.

The threats of haphazard urbanization, climate change and man-made disasters awfully concern my mind to have a conscious look to the Urban-Environment. I have keen interest in urban planning and the adverse impacts of climate change in community, with a goal of incorporating modern technologies like GIS and Remote Sensing in a meaningful way of contributing to city planning in Bangladesh and help create a better world for us and the generations to come.

It is my pleasure to introduce myself to the admission committee. My career objective is to do the best I can in the field of Urban Planning and Climate Change. I completed my Bachelor of Urban and Regional Planning (BURP) from Bangladesh University of Engineering and Technology (BUET) in 2008. Then in 2009, I got Erasmus Mundus scholarship in Master of Science in Geospatial Technologies awarded by the European Commission. I have studied in Portugal, Spain and Germany through this international master program.

I have few years of job experience in disaster management, academic teaching, GIS, master plan preparation and field surveying. I have expertise in handling GIS, JAVA, Database, MATLAB, Remote Sensing and Web Design software. I have also several international and national level journal publications.

I have developed a research proposal related to land cover change and climate change adaptation. My broad research objective is using different urban models/ simulation techniques to predict various hazard/ risk/ vulnerability maps. Now I am eager to get myself admitted into the PhD program offered by the Department of Earth & Environmental Sciences of University of St Andrews. The experience and knowledge achieved by me, over the past several years, are my strengths for this particular PhD program. I am highly enthusiastic to achieve this research based degree certificate.

The department has an excellent reputation for research facilities and faculty expertise, which helped me to select this opportunity. What I believe is that obtaining a PhD degree especially on this particular topic would be an excellent way to commence a career in research and experience the excitement and satisfaction of being at the forefront of this vastly expanding field.

I have already established contact with Dr. Timothy Hill about my research interests and he is quite interested in giving me opportunities to explore my future endeavour. Therefore, I wish to complete this PhD programme successfully and become an expert in analyzing and finding out solutions to climate change vulnerability of Bangladesh.

I wish to get a chance through Commonwealth PhD Scholarship to interact with fellows from diverse professionals and cultural backgrounds drawn from all over the World. This exposure will, certainly, offer me opportunities to explore my future endeavour. I am highly aware of the reputation of University of St Andrews and I am confident that, in return, I can make a perennial contribution to your department, my country and most importantly to the society.
