Dear Professor Dave Petley, Hope you are well! I have completed Erasmus Mundus M.Sc in Geospatial Technologies in March' 2011. Before that I did my bachelor in Urban and Regional Planning from Bangladesh University of Engineering and Technology (BUET) in 2008. I have an IELTS score of 7. Now I am very eager to get myself admitted, in the Department of Geography of Durham University, for PhD program under your supervision. I came to know that you have research interest in "understanding of landslides and landslide mechanics, especially in high mountain areas within less developed countries". I wish to work with you over this field or any project you think I am eligible for. I am quite capable of handling Remote Sensing, GIS, Programming (JAVA) and Database Management software. I have a keen interest in disaster management, urban morphology, climate change, land change analysis and land use modeling. I have relevant international peer-reviewed journal publications as well. Therefore, I think I am the perfect mentor for conducting PhD under your supervision. Moreover, I have been nominated for Commonwealth Scholarship in the UK (PhD) from Bangladesh. Therefore, funding will not be a problem for me to conduct PhD under your supervision. I am looking for a PhD admission under your supervision. Here I forward to you my CV, academic transcripts, sample research proposal and IELTS score as attachment files with more information about me. If possible please give me some feedback. I am highly interested to conduct PhD under your supervision. Please give me the opportunity. I firmly believe your positive decision and confirmation about me will be inspiring for my future career.
With thanks— Bayes Ahmed
