LINE UP BOTB AWARD

Summer has seared in with a major heat blast this year! That’s why you need to find some great live music wherever you are to cool down and enjoy.
THE LINE UP
We dropped in at T-Bone Tom’s to surprise The Line Up with their Best of the Bay Award for the Best Band. With a little help from their sound man who stopped the show, we were able to honor The Line Up to recognize them to an enthusiastic audience. This great local band provides a wide spectrum of music on both sides of the Galveston Causeway and are well deserved winners of being this year’s BOTB award. Leader Willy Gonzalez and band were very grateful for the honor, thanking their fans for their support. Congratulations to The Line Up! You can find their latest performance information on Facebook.
AJEAL
Many people from the Galveston Bay area know AJEAL, Angie Emerson and Eric A. Lambert, as a very talented acoustic and folkin’ duo who has graced many live music stages here. Recently, while we were on vacation in Tennessee, we surprised them at Izzy’s in Franklin, near their new home of Nashville. They are making their way through the very top-notch music
scene in Nashville and are performing at this local eatery at least monthly. Follow them on Facebook (AJEAL) because they still do gigs here at home or go see them in and around Music City.
AM/FM: The 70’s Rock Experience
This is a band covering the greater Houston metroplex and with a forte on the biggest anthems from the arena rock era. Remember those days? We caught this group at Jackie’s Brickhouse in June to enjoy reliving the moment. On this evening (and as with most), Jackie’s was packed both outside under the palapa and inside where AM/FM was on the live stage. The band included Kent Newman and Rob Jacobs on guitar, Mike McColloch on guitar/keys, Scott Madigan on bass, Stacey Steele on drums and they all sing too. Technically, AM/FM played the numbers flawlessly. A note on the vocals - with five singers in the band, each covered a lead song in line with the original singer we remember and when not singing lead, they harmonized equally as well. A AJEAL AT IZZY'S TN strong cast they be - These talented musicians have extensive resumes in the region including stints with Diamond Jack, That 70’s Thing, Escape, Rat Ranch, Madigan, and others. The band did their sound check with Head East and opened the show with Steely Dan’s Reelin’ In the Years and on through the 8-track stack for the rest of the evening. Good stuff for the soul, played well for the ears – ‘twas a good evening for all. Find out more on AM/FM at spacecitybands.com or on Facebook at AM/FM: The 70’s Rock Experience.
AM/FM OWNING IT
For newcomers to the area, if you’ve not been to Jackie’s Bar & Grill, we strongly suggest you check it out. They’ve a delightful menu which they’re always refreshing for variety as well as a solid line up of usual favorites to calibrate your tastebuds. The service is friendly and crisp at Jackie’s so never fear if the place looks packed - They’ll take great care of you.
