Beth Batchelder As a graduate of The Conway School, Beth’s mission is to make a difference through the field of ecological landscape design and planning. With experience in residential planning, native habitats, brownfield remediation and city recreation planning, Beth is interested in sustainable planning and design at both small and large scales. Her previous experience in management, administration, and design also helps give her skills to work with the public in customer service as well as managing community-driven processes. She brings these skills and more to the table as she helps to bring forth change that will lead to a better future.

Pollinator Corridor
Integrating pollinator habitats into everyday landscape Portland, Maine
Designers: Beth Batchelder, Molly Burhans & Cary White See Full Report
Project Summary
This plan provides detailed recommendations, using everything from their front stoops to their city’s highways, that demonstrate how pollinator habitat can be incorporated in the urban and suburban spaces in ways that have ecological integrity and provide lasting benefits to residents and visitors.

Residential Design
Transforming outdoor space for beauty and sustainability Project Goals: • Improve stormwater management and stop flooding in the basement and carport; • Create usable outdoor spaces by increasing privacy, beautifying vegetation and improving safety of paths around the back side of the house; • Site a chicken coop.

Amherst, Massachusetts Designer: Beth Batchelder See Full Report
Project Summary
This Frank Lloyd Wright-inspired house is on a 0.7-acres rectilinear lot with a slight incline which channels stormwater from the adjacent road into the home’s carport and basement. The yard contains many invasive exotic plant species, making the landscape difficult to maintain. The owners wanted a plan that addressed the issues while maintaining the native wooded aesthetic.

Brownfield Park Plan
Converting a former industrial area to a community park Chicopee, Massachusetts
Designers: Beth Batchelder & Rachel Lindsay See Full Report
Project Summary
Part of Chicopee, Massachusetts’ industrial past, Delta Park is the site of two former plants that were removed in the early 2000s, leaving this brownfield site closed to the public. Since the closure, the park’s delta ecosystem has been allowed to re-establish and the City of Chicopee’s Planning Department is looking to design park space for passive recreation, making this space a vital park to the surrounding community.
Project Goals: • Design passive recreation opportunities for the public; • Connect to the proposed Connecticut Riverwalk and Bikeway; • Protect and improve wildlife habitat and ecosystems on the highly disturbed area.
