It all started 45 years ago when Yiannis Efstathiadis introduced to the market the first Roasted and Peeled Peppers. From his very early steps in life he was o ering with passion food products in the classic small streets region in the city of Thessaloniki. When the market needs for peeled roasted peppers emerged Yiannis took the opportunity to set up his small handmade production site. Few months later he was proud to present his first crop production of 700 tins and 100 jars for the local market which was hungry for much more. Soon after, the first export came and nowadays the 2nd generation family driven company NESTOS S.A. exports its products all over the world.
NESTOS S.A. production site is located in the center of the valley with the fertile fields where Nestos River flows. Our vegetables are grown in the region around our factory giving us the unique opportunity to process them fresh just a few hours after harvesting.
As a vertically integrated company, we have our own and contracting farming. Thus, we control the product chain from the seed to our customer’s depot.
NESTOS S.A. has about 700 acres of contracted farming where we control our own crops. And every year we are working close with more than 500 growers' families.
We provide our carefully selected seeds to our farmers. They are planted in protected nurseries, where the first stage of growing takes place, to create the healthy plants.Our vegetables are harvested when they are fully ripened, and are hand picked from the plants, one by one !!!

On October 21ST, 2024, at 19:00, took place in Paris the first "Chickens of Pindos" press event at Evi Evane Restaurant.
The event was attended by many people, consisting mainly of representatives of major meat & poultry import companies, bloggers, wholesalers, retailers, and journalists. The audience had the opportunity to learn about the main objective of the campaign, to get information about the quality of European poultry products as well as to get more information about the meat production and processing. Moreover, the Agricultural Poultry Cooperative “PINDOS" was represented by the Chairman of the Board, Mr. Andreas Dimitriou, the Director of Research- Development and Factory Operation, and many high-ranking executives, while the event was honored by the presence of the Vice President of Greek-French Chamber of Commerce and Industry, Mrs Maria Voziki.
The audience had the opportunity to learn about the main objective of the campaign and to get information about the quality of European chicken and the chicken production processing by the Agricultural Poultry Cooperative “PINDOS”, the largest cooperative in Greek Poultry.
The Agricultural Poultry Cooperative of Ioannina PINDOS has developed a rich range of free-range chicken products that reflect the purity and quality of the Greek land. With these high-quality products as its vehicle, the Cooperative participated in the international exhibition in Paris, showcasing not only free-range chicken but also its wide variety of ready-to-eat cooked products, such as schnitzels, breaded chicken nuggets, grilled fillets, handmade burgers, and more. In addition, the Cooperative presented its range of free-range chicken cold cuts, including traditional village sausages, chicken "parizaki," and others, as well as the traditional chicken pie made with handmade dough from Ioannina, and chicken gyro, one of PINDOS' most popular and beloved products in international markets. The Cooperative's presence was rounded off with its marinated products – the "chicken gourmet" line, a recent addition to its portfolio. This includes special cuts of chicken marinated with local herbs and spices from Epirus.
Our guests savored the delicacies of Mrs. Dina Nikolaou, the Chef - Ambassador of the Greek Taste in Paris, and experienced modern Greek and Mediterranean gastronomy using European Poultry. At the event's finale, a media kit containing all the relevant information was distributed to the participants, who were also given the chance to confer with the event’s organizers.
EU funded program “Chickens of Pindos”
The three-year campaign promoting European Poultry products is addressed to the markets of France and Germany. The informational and promotional program “Chickens of Pindos” is implemented by «PINDOS» loannina Agricultural Poultry Farming Cooperative that produces high-quality European chicken meat products.
The campaign’s main objective is to provide information on the high standards of the EU production methods, particularly regarding food safety, traceability, authenticity, nutritional value, environmental protection and sustainability, in order to highlight European history, tradition and experience in poultry production and processing. The attention is drawn to raise awareness about EU livestock products, namely poultry consumption. The information will focus on the characteristics of chicken meat products produced in the European Union, pertaining to quality and taste.

The Agricultural Poultry Cooperative of Ioannina PINDOS has sealed with its brand name the Greek and European poultry industry. Today, with more than 600 members and 1,300 employees, Pindos is constantly at the top of the list of consumer preferences, with a market share of over 30 per cent while the production capacity reaches 850,000 chickens per week.
