According to Chinese astrology, people take on characteristics of the animal governing the year they were born in meaning those born in dog years are honest, loyal and compassionate.

"Ranking as the 11th animal in Chinese zodiac, Dog is the symbol of loyalty and honesty. People born in the Year of the Dog possess the best traits of human nature,” Your Chinese Astrology says.

While Dogs share similar characteristics, each Dog is differentiated by elements of fire, earth, metal, water or wood. According to Your Chinese Astrology, signs with the Earth element are more inclined to be kind and tolerant.

“Earth Dogs have a pure spirit and they glide through life without intervening in the affairs of others, believing that we should all live and let live,” a report by Roya Backlund with Elite Daily says.

Other dog years are 1922, 1934, 1958, 1970, 1982, 1994 and 2006. The last Earth Dog year was 1958, the year celebrities Michael Jackson and Prince were born making them both Earth Dogs.

Other celebrities including Cher, Freddie Mercury, Naomi Campbell, Matt Damon, Lil Wayne, Kelly Clarkson Justin Bieber and Harry Styles were all born on Dog Years.

The next dog year will happen in 2030!
