2024 Annual Pillars Conference Guest Speakers: Gregory & Veronica Hudson
Pilot, American Airlines
Gregory Hudson served as a Marine Corps grunt from March 1989 to March 1997, with his service including deployment during the Gulf War. As an infantryman, Hudson learned to make critical decisions under extreme pressure and developed an ability to assess and mitigate risks in life-threatening situations.
After leaving the Marines, Hudson pursued his passion for aviation by studying Aerospace Engineering at the prestigious Tuskegee University. The university's Aerospace Science Engineering program, accredited by ABET, provided him with a strong technical foundation. To broaden his skill set, Hudson also obtained degrees in accountancy and business/finance.
Hudson's military experience and education have molded him into an expert in risk evaluation and management—essential skills for his current role as an airline pilot at American Airlines. In this position, he routinely applies calculated risk-taking to ensure safe operations while navigating complex situations, such as adverse weather conditions.
Gregory Hudson's journey exemplifies how skills honed in the military, combined with higher education, can pave the way for success in civilian aviation. His unique background as a former Marine has given him an unparalleled understanding of risk management—a vital trait for any pilot.
Gregory Hudson is one of several special guest speakers at this year's Annual Pillars Conference. His presentation, "Soaring to Great Heights," promises to be a thought-provoking exploration of risk-taking, innovation, and the pursuit of excellence.
