Otter The name of our animal is called the Otter. It lives in rivers and oceans. Our animal eats shellfish. The Otter grows up to 4feet 6 inches and has soft under fur that is covered by brown bristles. It’s a relative of the Weasel. It spends most of its time in the water. It is protected because people want to kill it for warm fur.

The Otter is one of the best swimmers and that is one of the reasons why it can hold its breath under water for a long period of time. It was almost endangered of being extinct and is almost gone. This is what we learned about the Otter in Canada for our Canada project.

Raccoon The name of the animal we researched is a raccoon. It is a mammal that is found chiefly in North America and Canada. Our animal eats birds, frogs, fish, fruits, corn, eggs, melons, and other foods that are found in or near campers & trailers, which makes them rather common visitors usually at night. Our animal has a stout body with five to seven stripes. An adult raccoon can be 2.5 feet to 3.0 feet. They can weigh 20 pounds. Although a male raccoon can reach 50 pounds. These are the facts about our animal. Chase and Abbey

Seals

Our animal is a seal. Seals are excellent swimmers and have sleek bodies shaped like torpedoes. Most seals have hair on their bodies but some adult Walrus have almost no hair. All seals have a lair on their bodies called blubber witch is one to six inches thick. Most seals live in the oceans or in fresh water. Harbor seals, Ringed seals and some other kinds of seal spend most of their time on land or on chunks of ice. Northern Fur seals spend eight months out in sea. On their migration Fur seals travel 10 to 100 miles from the Bering Sea almost to Northern Mexico. They travel farther than any other seal. When a seal is ready to mate they go to places called rookeries, to have their babies and mate.

These are the facts I learned about seals.

The male has an 8 ft horn while the female has an 18 ft one. People kill them and they eat their skin. Their predators are the killer whales and the sharks.

Polar Bear Our animal that we researched for our unit on Canada is the Polar Bear. It lives in the North Pole but in the summer when the ice melts it moves down toward the Northern coasts of Canada and Greenland, they are also found near the Northern coast of Alaska. Polar Bears mainly eat small pieces of ringed seal. They have a long body, neck and head they also have short furry ears and sharp teeth. Polar Bears can live up to 33 years old. Although Polar Bears hunt other animals they rarely kill people. But people threaten the survival of Polar Bears. Esme and Sean
