o

Given the financial trouble of the Pub, he recommends the opening of a fast food window like the one at UBC. Business Committee will look at it.

• Angela: After students from the communicable disease course got tired in the SW5- room 2875, they measured the CO2 level, which was well higher than the standard. Caroline will look into this tomorrow morning. • Many Councillors expressed their concern over the status of snow removal in stairs and the overall campus. Caroline will look into it. Some wants some clarification about parking rules with the snow condition. Brenda clarifes that Impark still tickets students, if they do not see a valid ticket. o

10.7. Question Period • Chris – How did the set and tech rep go for the school of Construction. No one showed up. A school wide email announcing the meeting was sent out, and yet no one showed up. Doug is looking for ideas. Thomas T recommends that the recruitment be done at the beginning of the year with a set schedule. Emily invites Doug to attend the Set and Tech rep committee meeting to try to solve this issue. Angela recommends that honorarium to motivate them. Emily has some concerns about this issue due to the sheer number of them, and who would pay (BCIT or BCITSA). • Angela answers Thomas T. on his question for recruiting set & tech reps. Second year students have a significant impact of recruiting first year, better than instructors. Billy recommends holding off to the second week to make sure that the elected students is competent. Neil points out that faculty needs to have guidelines to ensure a proper election process. Aga recommends that both students and faculty promote it. Irina supports the second year option. Emily mentions that we need the combination of both students and faculty. • Jennette wants to know more about the “love lounge”. Emily explains that it is an event held in the GH to promote safe sex. It will sectioned off. Students will be able to see information booth and different vendors. • Thomas T. recommends that Leanne has a “free bee” contest see measure the Link pick up rate. Leanne states that it is already in the works. 10.8. Unfinished Business No unfinished business

10.9.

New Business 10.9.1 Murals, Jennah Stavroff

Jennah mentions that after talking to students, there is a consensus that the campus is dole and ugly. She was thinking that murals could embellish the campus. She has conducted a survey and 25 students out 29 believes that it is a good idea. She is bringing the idea to Council. • Jennette recommends that this issue be brought forward to the BCIT Executives.

• Roan has some questions about who will do these murals, students or artists. It could be a combination of both. BCIT has a relationship with Emily Carr. The cost of the design comes as the designing process itself. • Leanne asks about the survey. It was conducted in the GH. Students from different school responded. • Todd states that SW1 has a mural on the second floor. It is worth seeing. • Thomas T. asks about the process. Caroline confirms that it should go to the BCIT Executives to see their response and then if a petition is needed, Council can support this initiative. She states that the process might take longer than students expect. 10.10. Next Meeting Next meeting is scheduled for Monday, February 11, 2008 at 5:45pm in the Council Chamber. 10.11. Meeting adjourned It was moved Chris Holdgate and seconded by Josh Smith that the meeting be adjourned at 6:30pm. Carried
