2.1 Meeting called to order

The Chair person, Brian Harvey, calls meeting to order at 5:30 pm 2.2 Acceptance of the Agenda

It was moved for the acceptance of Agenda provided by Brian. 2.3 Set Rep Forum  One of the Set Reps inquired about quiet computer lab, which will be not locked. Brian will investigate.

Water Fountain in SW3 2nd floor by IT services printers is not working properly. It is problematic to fill out the bottle. Brian will investigate. Set Reps expressed their concerns that some of the chairs in SW3 can be stolen. It was mentioned that security office videotapes everything. Set Reps from Interior Design program complained that BCIT doesn’t give option to take Revit to full time students. Brian will investigate. It was advertised that Set Reps from Interior Design Program will have a fundraising bake sale in NE1 on October 31st, 2011. The purpose of this event is to collect money for the Design Conference. It was advised to apply for SIF as a way to cover expenses for the participation in the conference. It was proposed to contact IT services directly in case students have any problems with printers. The office of IT services is located in SE12 building. Clocks in NE 1 are not on. Brian will investigate. Are there any reasons why computer labs close at 6 pm in NE1 –on the weekends? Brian will investigate. Some drafting tables in NE1 need to be fixed. Brian will investigate. Set rep asked if their class can organize a charity event/party. It was proposed to formulate their ideas and to present them to Brian. It was suggested to hold the event in the Pub and discuss all further details with Mike Neal, Pub Manager at pubmgr@bcitsa.ca.

2.4 Unfinished Business  Bike storage: The set rep complains about fullness of bike racks between SW1 and SW3 were directed to BCIT. BCIT is working on improving situation with bike storage around campus.  BCITSA Pool Tournament: Brian is working on getting sponsors for the Pool Tournament. Set reps shared their ideas what kind of music they prefer to have on the day of the event. Set Reps were asked for the contacts of the bands or DJs which they would like to have on the Pool Tournament. Questions:  Will they play for free? No, we will pay them.  Do you want a DJ or a Band? It will depend on our available budget.  Do you know the precise day? We are planning it in February; the set reps will be updated regarding precise date and time. 

Buildex (Feb. 8&9, 2012). It was reminded to the Set Rep about Buildex conference on February 8 and 9, 2012. According to the set reps comments, most of the students expressed their interest in Buidex participation. Students were advised to apply for SIF for covering the expenses connected to Buildex.

2.5 New Business 

First Aid Classes:

Set Reps expressed students’ interest in the First Aid Classes. It was mentioned that the more students register the more chances they receive to get discounts for the class. It was asked to mail to Brian the list of interested students of each class. Questions:  How long it will be? Probably, it will be eight hours day. 

Oktoberfest:

Set Reps were invited to celebrate Oktoberfest in the Professor Mugs Pub. The following events will take place on Friday, October 21st, 2011 in the Professor Mugs Pub.  At 12:00pm nail banging contest (mit sawhorses and three nails per two x four), Das Boot 1 (big glass chugging contest with ginger ale), German Accent Contest  1:00pm (Das Boot 2, Balloon Poppers, German Trivia)  2:00pm (Das Boot 3, Chicken Dance Competition, Pretzel toss/bottle caps)  3:00pm (Das Boot 4 & winner announced, nail contest #2, balloon contest)  4:00pm (German Trivia or accent)  4:00-6:00pm Beer Fest Movie playing  Movember: Set Reps were asked to join Movember fundraising event.
