This project is located in the deteriorated urban area in Westlake near downtown Los Angeles As a library, it will certainly play a cultural and educational roe, and may act as a center to unite people in the area. But, as we are getting familiarized with such situation. What's the elements making a project distinguishing? How significant the role of the site can be? I explored such potential by focusing on the site itself as much as possible. But in the process, the inner power from the project start to contradict the assumption.

The site is located in between two major transportation route - Metro Exposition line and Jefferson Blvd. Due to the unwecoming site situation. I came up with an idea to lift the major
working space up in the air, and invite the site element into the building itself.

Corridors
Six plans according to different area
To add void space for apartments from the outside, a siries of corridors are attached arround the outside walls of bldg A. These space will help to reduce the effect of the outside environmental change, such as rain or inappropriate sunlight.
Every two floor is a unit of apartment suite. According to the area requirement, the plan is devided into 10 apartments each unit in 6 different types, the continuous inner space cannot articulate the function, yet provide resilience to the actual usage.
