APRIL EDITION
Ken Russell | District Superintendent
The 90th conference of the BC and Yukon District Network is now engraved in our memories and preserved in the archives of our district vault for future generations. What will be remembered? Candy in the welcome lounge? Dad’s cookies?
Lifelong friends and colleagues buzzing with interaction in the lobby? Ordinands being affirmed? 50 year ministry veterans being honoured? Prophetic words given? David Kinnaman’s challenge to refocus our mission and reach a missing
generation? Or, our conference theme, Pursue… “Never be lacking in zeal, but keep your spiritual fervor, serving the Lord. Be joyful in hope, patient in affliction, faithful in prayer.” >> CONT. PAGE TWO

>> CONT. FROM PAGE ONE
In my opinion, a very significant moment came through the prophetic word delivered by Elaine Gibson during our conference… “The Spirit is calling us to rise out of our comfort zone and begin to reach to higher heights and deeper depths in God. He is asking us to listen to the still small voice that’s been urging us to seek Him more; to use the gifts He has given us in faith; to walk where we’ve never walked before. It is the Holy Spirit who is prompting us to reach… When we reach in the power of the Holy Spirit we touch, bringing transformation to lives, neighborhoods, cities and ultimately whole nations. The Holy Spirit is urging us, reach higher, further and harder than we ever have before. He will pour in the strength and resources as we put in the effort. As we are faithful to reach, our influence becomes far greater than our reach. Influence flows like water out of our reaching and touches venues, into the cracks and crevices
AFFIRMATION OF ORDINANDS
of civilization. It creeps into places we would never have been allowed to go. Family members, colleagues, business people, students will take the gospel message, we have reached them with, to literally the four corners of the earth. Let us allow the Holy Spirit to empower us to reach, believing the influence of the gospel will flow literally to people and places unknown.” Friends, let us continue our PURSUIT of God with all our heart, mind, soul and strength; as God’s influence becomes far greater than our reach.
I am delighted to report that your district leadership team (DLT) and ministry lead team (MLT) is ready for another fruitful biennial. We are still processing the section pastor nominations and election. Join me in welcoming the leaders below. Our leadership is determined to develop leaders, improve the health of our clergy and churches, and multiply new churches and ministries. I’m so grateful for the strong support that is shown by our partnering churches and leaders. Thank you for reaching people who are far from God and discipling them to maturity in Christ.

Jesus said, I have come to give life to the hangout at sev…" "uhh... FULL… ok?" He is saying that life is meant to be abundant, not normal, extraordinary, and beyond what we could even think or imagine. For me, this is what FUN is meant to be - Jesus came to give life to the FULL.
Teens need to have a place to have fun OR they will try to find it somewhere else. Consequently, this can lead to some stupid (or dangerous) things. OR, Maybe that is why I have been in it can lead you to having youth ministry for so long or I haven’t the best place to have really grown up… but it is fun. John Engels | BC Campus Ministries Director
Thank you for praying for our annual province-wide student retreat (Emerge). Memorable moments punctuated the weekend. Baptisms, snowball fights, times of prayer and a missions offering were some of the highlights.
The theme of "Identity" framed ways of engaging being fully human in our relationship with God. "Body Theology" focused on the need to avoid compartmentalizing our lives because God designed us as integrated beings. There is also the need to be
part of the "community of God." It is only in the body of Christ that we are able to accept and contribute God's gifts. We are so grateful for your prayers and partnership in reaching students.
A student recently renounced their involvement in the occult at a student prayer meeting and accepted Christ’s salvation. The individual described the experience as if somebody was lifting an enormous weight from their shoulders, and felt as if cool water was pouring over their head and down their back. The student was baptized that same night!

Les and Pat Markham | Prayer Ministry Directors
Pat and I want to thank those who joined us each morning of district conference for prayer. It was especially nice to have our district officers with us – thank you.
Pat and I were also privileged to represent the PAOC at the PCCNA (Pentecostal and Charismatic Churches of North America ) meetings in South Carolina for their Prayer Commission. Sometimes you might feel like you are alone in your praying, but we want to assure you that there are millions of God’s people praying around the world. The Prayer Commission has forwarded three resolutions for all of our churches to pray for:
1. Pray for spiritual renewal and revival in our North American churches. God has been blessing in a remarkable way in many countries of the world. It is estimated that over 200,000 people a day are coming to faith in Christ. Meanwhile, many of our churches in Canada are struggling; let’s pray.
reach the world. If we all unite in prayer and mission outreach, we can reach this goal in the next ten to fifteen years. Our prayer is that God will help us not only to do the work, but also to complete the task. Thousands are coming to Jesus but there are still several thousands of unreached people groups.
2. Pray for prayer rallies, prayer meetings and training services where our people can learn how to pray with power and authority. The disciples of Jesus said “ Teach us to pray.”
Prayer will make a difference. Somebody once said, “There are other things we can do AFTER WE PRAY, but we will not be effective in Christian service UNTIL WE PRAY!”
3. Pray for the unreached people groups of the world. Two thousand years ago Jesus commissioned us to
God bless you as you serve the Kingdom in this crucial matter. Let’s “PRAY EVERY DAY.”

Sheldon Armitage | PAOC Global Worker, Slovakia Assistant Regional Director for Eurasia Now
One of the key moments that helped launch me into global work was a five-week internship and learning experience I had in Europe. I was a third-year college student who had been on a few short-term missions trips and was starting to feel called towards moving, living and working overseas. My internship experience included hands-on learning in a missional community, as well as a ministry trip into Slovakia. I not only learned about the WHAT and WHY of missions, but also the HOW of missions. That experience moved me from just being interested in missions to recognizing that I was called to missions. I began to see what life
overseas would look like and what it would take for me to get there. I came back ready to do whatever it took to finish my degree, get prepared and raise the funds needed to be part of God's work in Europe.
We are now in the process of launching ISM in two new regions of the world. ISM sites in Latin America (Dominican Republic) and Europe (Slovakia) are coming on line this year and next. Students at ISM go through an intense four-week learning experience where I'm happy to say that today, the PAOC they interact with and learn from top has such an internship and learning global and national workers. After the program for people who are four weeks they are sent to intern interested in growing in their missional with global workers who are awareness and calling. Over the last ministering in areas that the students few years, Sandra McIntosh has been are interested in. We have running the Impact School of opportunities ranging from church Mission (www.ismglobal.ca) in planting, youth and children's work, Bangkok, Thailand. The ISM team has international churches, human been able to train and send many trafficking, orphan care, evangelism emerging global workers around Asia and so much more. to learn and do missions in various ministries and nations.
We are inviting you in the BCYD to help us successfully launch ISM globally by doing some of the following: Contact sheldon.armitage@paoc.org or one of the
ISM team to come and speak to your young adults, church or missions team about ISM Identify, encourage and support an emerging global
worker in your church to sign up for ISM Come and do an ISM session yourself!

Course Description This course will trace the rise of Pentecostalism in the twentieth century, specifically the development of various distinctives that come to mark the movement. Particular attention will be given to this evolution by way of Pentecostal readings of Luke-Acts. Topics will include a short history of interpretation of Luke-Acts, hermeneutical developments, and subsequent application of core Pentecostal doctrines and ecclesial practices such as Spirit baptism and healing. Further analysis will be devoted to emerging theologies and practices based upon global readings of Luke-Acts.
Course Description This course is an in-depth study on the Pentecostal Movement in Canada. By using a combination of sociological, cultural and historical analyses, the course will examine the origins, development, growth, impact, and global expansion of Pentecostal / Charismatic movements in Canada. Specific attention will be given to the role of revivals, institutional development, theological trends, renewal among historic Protestant and Roman Catholic churches, and impact upon evangelicalism. The course brings understanding not only to the Pentecostal movement's past but also its current state within Canadian context.
