Berwyn Internship for Small Business

In response to the pandemic, the U.S. Small Business Administration launched a program that was designed to help small business owners in underrepresented communities reduce barriers and get connected to resources. What came of that was the Berwyn Development Corporation (BDC) becoming a Community Navigator that offers free technical assistance to businesses and the creation of the Berwyn Internship for Small Businesses (BISB).

In collaboration with Morton College, the BDC has invested $50,000 to fund the pilot program. This will help cover the costs of student tuition, software, and equipment for a total of 20 participating businesses paired with 20 students. While the students are earning credits for their program and real-life work experience, the businesses are learning to build a stronger social media presence and enhancing their website at no cost to them.
