The origins of BDF INDUSTRIES The origins of BDF Industries date back to 1906, when Giuseppe Boscato began designing and producing mechanical parts for the industry of that period. After World War I, Giuseppe Boscato and Adamo Dalla Fontana, owner of a workshop, joined forces to establish a company in Vicenza, in the historical headquarters of Ponte Alto.
Under the name of “Boscato & Dalla Fontana”, the company was a mechanical workshop for the design and construction of special machines and equipment. After the war II, Boscato & Dalla Fontana converted its production range and began to design and to produce centre lathes for the mechanical
industry and looms for the textile industry. In the early ‘50s the company began producing parts for the glass industry, and a few years later, in 1956 – the first in Europe – constructed a completely automatic four-section hollow glass forming machine.

TDE Macno SpA Starts it’s activity of designing and developing comprehensive and straight forward solutions to a wide variety of industrial automation applications.

Combustion engine which, connected to an alternator, provided electrical lighting for the very first time on a road in Schio (Vicenza province).
1924
Electrical energy was produced using a water mill (still existing) that could supply about 18-20 kW/h of power to the parallel lathes in the BDF workshop with leather transmission belt.
1921

BDF was the first ever company to introduce electronics into the moving parts of mechanisms (Servo Invert and Servo Take Out).

Our past is the basis of our future Since then, BDF has developed its production for the glass industry, rapidly becoming a leader worldwide, with its own field of research and development. From the experience accumulated working with a number of Italian glass manufacturers (between 1969 and 1975), BDF came to understand the importance of automation and control in the glass industry. Consequently, starting in the ’80s, the company decided to become a supplier able to offer not only the machines but also process solutions and technologies.
In 1988 BDF acquired TDE Macno S.p.A. a company that since 1976, year of its foundation, has been manufacturing and developing solutions for industrial automation. TDE Macno deals with the supply of materials handling (inverters) of electric motors and the implementation of systems for the command and control of industrial processes.Â
In 2001 BDF acquired Glass Technologies S.r.l., one of the most important Italian engineering companies serving the glass industry. Glass Technologies develops projects and engineering of melting furnaces, distributors and forehearths. Its solutions includes both entirely new projects and installations on existing systems aimed at improving plant performances and energy savings.

In 2002 BDF SERVIS d.o.o was born, a company which core business includes the development, installation and maintenance of mechanical equipment for the production of glass packaging, electronics and automation. In 2003 BDF acquired MCR Systems S.r.l., founded in 1982 by engineers who had been working since 1964 with production-related issues. The experience of MCR covers all applications: measurement, monitoring and control facilities for the production of hollow glass.Â
In 2009 BDF established the BDF Energy division with the aim to promote alternative and ecologically compatible solutions by developing and producing technically advanced system able to generate energy both electrical and thermal. In November 2013 Glass Technologies S.r.l. and MCR Systems S.r.l. merged with BDF Industries S.p.A. becoming the ideal and global partner for the glass industry, with a complete and appropriate expertise and know-how for all the aspects of the glass plant life.

BDF Industries product lines MELTING BDF industries Melting product line includes the complete glass melting and conditioning technologies for design and supply of furnaces, working end & forehearths. The range of products includes also the relevant equipment like combustion systems, inversion valves, batch chargers, stirrers etc. BDF Industries furnaces are engineered by high level of customization with focus on energy efficiency and the attention to the environmental impacts. Long time experience skilled people work together in synergic team with young generation technician in order to offer a wide range in design, manufacture and supply of different furnaces types for production of containers, tableware, lighting ware, cast glass and technical glassware.
FORMING The forming department of BDF Industries is the historical core business. BDF Industries is able to provide a wide range of machineries with a high level of production flexibility to meet the customers’ requirements. With more than 65 years’ experience in glass forming field, BDF Industries can offer the complete range of IS machine including gob forming and delivery, ware handling, container and variable equipment. The glass forming machineries are fully designed and assembled in house by BDF Industries in Italy, which has relevant knowledge of production process of the most important glass manufacturers in the world (i.e. strong credentials for forming business in O-I, Vetropack, Vitro, Sisecam, Saverglass‌) Our R&D office is focused to find the best solutions applied into IS machines in order to match lower production costs for our Customers thanks to higher reliability and maintainability of our product. We continue to work towards research and innovations that will deliver genuine advantages in productivity and efficiency for our customers glass factories located in different area around the world.
AUTOMATION The automation division involved in the Glass Industries focuseds its activity in the engineering process and software, during reconditioning and retrofitting of all part of Glass Factory including: plant designing, installation and start-up, network configuration, control, staff training, customer service and remote assistance. The experienced, qualified, passionate and customer-focused staff is there to add value for customers, partners and suppliers. As part of its own philosophy, the team believes and operates in the sustainable development: the application of its carefully designed and implemented systems greatly save energy and relevant impact on the environment, thus improving the quality of life and the safety of the operators in the field as well as adding economic and social value to the community. BDF Energy produces technologically advanced systems capable of generating electricity, heating environments and/or producing chilled water where before there were just the exhaust gases. All in compliance with the environment and with installation costs that guarantee contained payback of the investment.
