GTFS GTHP GTHP 4C
• Suitable for any forming process • Suitable for any glass color • Based on indirect cooling: no air is in contact with glass • Fast response time • No moving part on board of the forehearth • Single or tandem design
The molten glass exiting the throat must reach the spout with precise characteristics in terms of temperature, thermal & chemical homogeneity. Forehearths designed by the multi-skilled BDF Group are complete with automation and combustion systems specifically developed to achieve such targets with maximum flexibility.
Gthp 4C Tailor-made design GTHP 4C. Next to our top models gtfs and GTHP, our R&D department can develop customized projects to assure: • High pull rate • Specific cooling power within limited lengths • Compliance with specific heat requirements • Specific thermal homogeneity

Cooling
Radiative Zone
• Indirect 1 • Radiative zone at the forehearth entry 2 • Different glass contact insulation for central and side zones 3 • Bottom cooling (if required) 4 • Air damper system 5 • Automatic management of each zone
The radiative zone at the forehearth entry enables quick and effective elimination of the heat. Thus, the next zones can re-establish the temperatures in the forehearth section

Air Damper System • AIR BARRIER CREATION • PARASITE AIR ENTRY PREVENTION • PRESSURE STABILITY INSIDE FOREHEARTH • AIR FLOW AUTOMATIC REGULATION BY COOLING AND COMBUSTION RACK VIA CONTROL SYSTEM
Forehearth Equipment In order to strengthen the forehearth features, GT offers a range of equipment to be installed: • Thermal map • Equalizing booster • Stirrer or Cat Scratch Removal System • Draining system • Coloring system

Combustion Rack The rack is designed to control the forehearth zones by fully automated gas and air regulation valves. • It is designed to keep the air/gas ratio steady • Cooling and heating are grouped in one rack only • Linear regulation valves are used to vary the flow according to valve opening • Critical components for good forehearth management are pre-assembled and installed in a dedicated unit, usually positioned in an area less exposed to the heat coming from forehearths and w/e.
Meausuring, Control and SUPERVISING System SCADA SOFTWARE • Historical trends • WHOLE CAMPAIGN MEMORY CAPACITY • ALARM MANAGEMENT (INCLUDED; THROUGH MOBILE AND E-MAIL) PLC – DCS ARCHITECTURE • Most preferred PLC or DCS brand platform available • Redundant PLC available Control systems focused on keyperformance factors to grant: • High conditioning level in terms of temperature profile and homogeneity • Glass quality to the forming machinery • Pack-to-melt efficiency • Minimum energy consumption and operation cost • Low polluting emission • Forehearth life-time • Elaboration of trend process The System allows effective, reliable control and recording of real time or historical data during the whole furnace or forehearth campaign. Automatic heating and cooling on each forehearth zone grants a continuous monitoring and temperatures control. Flexible automation configuration to match different Customer’s requirements: • Stand-alone control system based on independent single loop controllers (typical application for single forehearth) • P.L.C. based for single or multi forehearth installation
Equalizing zone: three triplex thermocouples
Flexible application • Full supply or integration with best-known PLC brands. • Integration with glass plant Supervision via SCADA system (Supervisory and Data Acquisition) - Forehearths - Batch house - Forming area - Cold-end - Whole production process The application of a SCADA acquisition system creates a multi-terminal network for a fast access to required information and grants a constant overview of: • Process • Centralized controls • Historical • Trend • Correlation between different areas of the plant process Access from different places and hierarchies levels is available to ensure proper flexibility and safety managing.
