A LOOK AT THE SoCAL DESERT MARKET Historically considered seasonal, the Desert market continues to emerge as a year-round player among the most soughtafter communities in Southern California. For the first time in years, housing inventory has declined prior to the same time a year earlier. This brings about a very encouraging change in trends. Actual sales have increased 43% year-over-year for those homes priced over $500K. We have seen a 23% increase in sales of homes priced over $1 million. Our Desert market is created primarily from 30% owneroccupied residents and 70% non-owner occupied residents. After rapid growth between 2003 and 2012, the secondhome/investor market is stable. The majority of the buyers for 2016 came from our sister communities in Los Angeles, Orange, and San Diego counties. Additionally, the Northwest and the upper East Coast played significant roles.
