Cut spending - Cut taxes
My campaign platform can be seen in its entirety on my website www.correntemayorwarwick.com and here is a brief summary: ➢ 16 years of annual tax increases and increased spending. Warwick lost 5,800 taxpayers and 4,666 businesses in the last ten years alone! I plan to offer tax rebates to reverse this trend! Move to Warwick. Buy a home or start a brick-and-mortar business; get a check. ➢ I will legislate a 2 year building permit fee moratorium to stimulate construction. This will most certainly attract taxpayers back to Warwick and encourage homeowners to increase the size of their homes which also increases tax revenue for the City, every year, forever. ➢ I will promote Warwick to the rest of R.I. to attract new homebuyers and new businesses. ➢ My plan is to institute a voluntary pension buyout program with a win-win solution to all. ➢ My plan is for an unbiased, independent audit with all results published in the Beacon. ➢ I want to hire a grant writer. Central Falls did. Cost $30,000. Savings are over $600,000. ➢ Total transparency of all city employee contracts will help “Cut spending and Cut taxes”. ➢ Reducing the salaries of all new hires will “Cut spending - Cut taxes” for all taxpayers. ➢ Just like Mayor Angel Tavares did in Providence, I will cut the Mayors salary by 20% ➢ I want a hiring freeze giving job security to present employees and money saved for all. ➢ I want the car tax cut in half for Senior Citizens & Veterans as well as free bus service for Seniors. ➢ I will re-examine any vacant land. New homes mean new taxpayers and new tax revenue. ➢ I will improve our relationship with the School Committee. Our students deserve it! ➢ I will do what it takes to get Warwick a Home Rule Charter. Our decisions should be final. ➢ I will renegotiate the Airport Expansion Agreement to make them better neighbors. ➢ I will create a “Mayors Advisory Board” to hear from any concerned Warwick resident. ➢ I want all Warwick residents to receive lower electric bills through energy deregulation. ➢ I will reward any department that under spends and penalize any that over spend. Finally, I will treat this like a full-time, 7-day-a-week commitment. I care, and will be available to any taxpayer for any concern. I am exceptionally proud of the effort I have put into this campaign so far. I will bring that mind set into the Mayor’s office. I will be fully accountable and responsible to the Warwick Taxpayer!
