How to Choose a Hotel
How to Choose a Venue
Staying at a hotel is a great respite away from stress or your familiar routine. With great amenities, gorgeous scenery and room service, you can use time to simply lie on a bed and relax. Or maybe you are searching for a place to stay during a family vacation, business or road trip. Perhaps you are in between homes and need temporary accommodations. Whatever your reason for staying in a hotel, you should be careful in your decision-making process. Pick a hotel that has a perfect combination of cleanliness, fun amenities and superior customer service. Here are a few guidelines to help you choose your hotel:
Anyone planning a special event, such as a wedding, concert or fundraiser will understand the importance of finding the right venue. You don't want to deal with a large crowd on your property. Hosting a major event at your home or office will be a hassle. A classy, well-equipped venue can make your gathering a success. Here are a few things to consider when choosing a location for your special occasion.
Search Conduct an online search for all hotels that are in close proximity to where you will be. If you have a meeting in a city, for example, you should look for hotels in the area of your destination. When you are simply looking for a vacation hotel, be sure to look for a facility in a central area. It is likely that there will be many hotels in your desired area. Choose the five closest hotels. That way, you will not have to drive or walk far to reach your ultimate destination. Amenities The next thing to consider is the amenities. Visit the websites of each hotel you have chosen and look at the features and services. If you are staying for one-night, you might be looking for a quiet spot to sleep. But every hotel offers different amenities. If you are staying for several days, you might want free access to a fitness center. Other places have a continental breakfast at no extra charge. Look for free services, such as cable television with movie channels, kitchenettes, refrigerators and gaming consoles. And of course, free wi-fi is a must. Prices Your budget will play a huge part in your decision. Research
a few locations to see which hotels offer the services you want for the least amount of money. You might be qualified for a discount. Hotels and resorts often offer discounts to people who are in the military, have AAA memberships or are senior citizens. If you are on a business trip, your employer may have an arrangement with selected hotels to provide a discount for employees. Either way, booking online is also likely to be cheaper than calling the front desk directly. Reviews Customer reviews will give you important insight on specific locations. Let the reviews guide you on how you will spend your money. The more reviews you read, the better. It will give you a balanced assessment of a hotel. Previous customers can answer questions about the friendliness of the staff and the condition of the rooms. Former hotel guests are typically unafraid of talking about negative experiences at an establishment. These reviews could serve as a prediction of how the hotel staff will treat you. When you see a significant amount of negative comments and ratings, remove the hotel from your list. Selection Pick the top two hotels from your list. If possible, visit them so you can get a feel for the establishment. If they are part of a chain, you could visit another branch facility and ask questions. The concierge and staff should be happy to talk to you. Some of them may have even stayed at the hotel on your list. After you have taken all the necessary steps, make an informed decision. The extra time and effort will ensure a pleasant and fun stay. After all, your hotel serves as your home away from home.
LESS STRESS Event planning is stressful. You will need a venue that lowers your anxiety level before and during the event. This is especially true of weddings. Whether you or a friend are getting married, you will need an experienced venue staff. The employees should treat you and your guests with respect and grace. Venues can be very helpful with event planning. Topquality venues regularly do business with many vendors. They can give you advice on finding other vendors in your area. They might be able to assist you in the planning phase, which can help you relax as you plan for the big day. CALL THE SHOTS On the other hand, you should control the entire process. Be sure the details are meeting your expectations. When you feel a venue is pressuring you or even making decisions without your consent, end the relationship. You need people who will work with you, not
people who only consider what is easiest for them. The theme, style and decor of the event should be your choice. Leave the smaller details the venue's staff and management. Doing so will free you to focus on important aspects of the occasion.
INCLUDED SERVICES Every venue is different when it comes to services. Some places offer hardly any services, while others help you set up and clean up. Placing tables and chairs is timeconsuming. Taking down decorations and equipment afterward can put a sour ending on a fabulous day. Read your contract carefully. Unless you are on a very tight budget, look for a full-service venue that will set up and tear down as part of their pricing package.
TECHNICAL NEEDS Your event might require special technical needs. For example, sound and lighting is vital for a musical event. The venue should have the right electrical and audio connections, as well as places to route and hide cables safely. Weddings can also be a technical challenge. The band or DJ will need to have clear sound and a dance floor. Wedding photographers might have preferences about where backdrops and special lighting will be placed.
The best venues can help you have a successful, stress-free event. Finding the right place to experience your special occasion will be memorable for you and your guests.

How To Choose a Private School Parents send their children to private schools for many reasons. Ultimately, it is because they want what is best for their children. They believe a private school will help their children succeed. Choosing the right private school seems like a daunting decision. After all, an educational institution can help or hinder your child. The task becomes less daunting when you take the appropriate measures, do research and ask the right questions. The following tips will help you determine the right school for your child. Your first step is evaluating your child's educational goals and needs. Does he have natural gifts you are seeking to nurture? Are there physical or learning disabilities or behavioral issues that should be addressed? Has your child voiced an interest in science, math, sports or music? Ask for referrals from your child's current school, teachers, guidance counselors, family and friends. This should give you a solid beginning. Now, consider what an ideal school would offer. Make a list of these features. Will your child attend a local day school or boarding school? Are there travel or budgetary restrictions? Are extracurricular activities, such as sports, band, art or debate club important? Conduct some research on the Internet for schools that have these features. Most sites will have plenty of information as well as policy summaries. Look at photo galleries and videos. Some sites may even give virtual tours of the facilities. Think about your child's daily commute to school. Are there suitable transportation options? After looking at these considerations, you can now make a "short list" of schools. It will consist of institutions
that fit your criteria. Ask your child for his or her opinion about these schools. Talk it over to decide which ones are best. When the list is complete, it is time to narrow it down even further. Determine entrance requirements and ensure your child meets them before contacting a particular school. Make a list of general questions along with a subset of specific questions for each school. Then start contacting the institutions. If their answers are satisfactory, make an appointment to visit them. While there, inquire about the enrollment paperwork and any testing your child will have to complete. Check out the atmosphere of the school. Is it relaxed or competitive? Is there structure and discipline, or is it more free-flowing? Most importantly, will your child feel comfortable there? Be aware of how you are treated by the staff members. They will be dealing with your child throughout the day. Are they friendly, helpful and respectful? Try to meet as many of the staff and teachers as you can. Imagine your family engaging in school activities. Is it easy to picture your child spending them there? If your child accompanies you to these appointments, ask him or her about the school. Children often have special insights and reactions to environments. After all tours are complete, review your findings. You should be able to start eliminating schools. Now that you have seen the school, asked questions and met the staff, you can also develop a better understanding of the financial cost of each school. Ask about financial aid, if needed. With diligence and forethought, you should be able to apply to the school of your choice and have your child happily accepted.

Tips for Selecting the Right Mortgage Lender Once you have found the home of your dreams, most buyers want to close the deal as soon as possible. But finding the right mortgage lender can be time-consuming. The key is to take as much time as necessary to do things properly. You must also make sure you are dealing with quality lenders. Lenders with excellent customer service can make things go smoothly. But if your lender is only concerned with his or her bottom line or making extra money on selling loan products, use caution. The best mortgage professionals are knowledgable about their loan products. They are willing to spend as much time as possible to explain them to you. They take pride in guiding you through what could be a confusing process. They keep your best interests and financial priorities in mind. No longer do you have to worry about washing or ironing your clothing. These days, professionals depend on a dry cleaner. Others may drop off their formal wear or coats for an occasional cleaning. g Either way, choosing the right dry cleaner is a great way to save time and energy. When looking for a new dry cleaner, start by finding business in your area. You might see them advertised rin your local newspaper or on the Internet. Your social network may know of good dry cleaners in your area. Once you have developed a list, start visiting a few eof them. The business should be clean and organized. kBright lighting will allow you to see well. Clothes kept on the racks should be clean, fresh and pressed. There should not be chemical odors or dirty surroundings. t Ask a staff member how long the dry cleaner has lbeen in business. If it has been around for a few years, gthen it must have satisfied customers. t You can ask them for references. They should be able to furnish names and contact information of scustomers who use their services. Verify the history of newer businesses. Have they been in business at a previous location? Were they Sever or are they now part of a chain? Sometimes a dry hcleaner will have such success and develop multiple eoutlets. All staff members should be friendly and yprofessional. They should be able to inform you about ,common cleaning problems. Ask how they handle yspecial fabrics. It is important to find out how the clothes are cleaned. It is usually better to find a dry cleaner that
cleans clothes on site. Moving clothing to a different location leaves a greater chance they will be lost. Some dry cleaners automatically mend small tears when you drop off your dry cleaning. Other businesses provide alteration services. Talk to each dry cleaner to ask about special services. Again, if the person offering these services is not on location, it is much easier for your items to get lost. You could also inquire about the procedures used to clean your clothes. Some methods are friendlier to the environment than others. Some procedures will help your clothes last longer. How long will the service take? Some dry cleaners offer speedy service while others may take a week or more. If you need an item cleaned in a hurry, this question can make a big difference. You may be required to sign a statement that holds the company innocent if they hurt your garment. Read it carefully before signing it. Once you have narrowed your list to two or three possible dry cleaners, call the Better Business Bureau. If they have a bad report on file, the BBB should be able to tell you the allegation and what action the business took to close the situation. Some dry cleaners use coupons to attract new customers. Look for these discounts. It is a great way to save money while trying out their services. Do not take your best clothes at first. Drop off only one or two items. After they have finished, evaluate the quality of their work. Do your clothes look clean and pressed? Do they smell nice? If you are satisfied, then you may have found a new dry cleaner. If not, repeat the process until you discover a business that makes you happy.

How to Choose a Pool or Hot Tub Going to a spa is a refreshing way to relax, but those visits can certainly add up. They become expensive if you go often, and traveling can often leave you feeling drained. Why not install a home spa or pool? It is a fabulous way to feel like you've been on vacation without ever leaving home. Many people who suffer from chronic back pain or circulatory issues find relief in a spa. Contrary to popular belief, home spas have become quite affordable in recent years. As a result, they are also very popular. There are easy-to-install models and even portable ones that you can take with you on vacation. The home-spa industry has worked hard to incorporate innovations, such as ozonators and aromatherapy fragrances. Spas often found in high-end hotels and resorts are now available for the average consumer. You may be able to purchase some of these models at your favorite big-box or home-improvement center. The best spas include hydrotherapy, which will help you heal and repair your body. Tubs with water jets will massage muscles, improve circulation, relax nerves and ease pain. The water suspends your tired muscles in weightlessness, allowing them to rest. People with chronic back problems often report relief. Custom spas are also available. You can have
it built to meet your specifications. Everyone has a different reason for installing a home spa, and manufacturers are happy to accommodate your requests. At-home swimming pools are another favorite for health-conscious people. These pools are not like your typical in-ground blue bathtub. Natural stone, manmade waterfalls and landscape detailing will make your pool into a private oasis. Before purchasing your pool, decide whether you would like an in-ground or above-ground pool. Above-ground pools are less expensive, but many people prefer the durability and overall look of an in-ground pool. Take time to think about your decision. After all, your pool is a major investment. It will be a part of your home for many years. Consider the landscaping around your pool. There are many possible finishes for the decking alone. You can also choose the materials, style and features. Sometimes the environment around a pool can seem as relaxing as stepping foot in the water. With so many advances in home spas and swimming pools, combined with their affordability, it makes sense to install one on your property. After all, wouldn't it be nice to have your own private resort without the hassle of leaving home?

Choosing a Credit Union In these economic times, many people are finding out that credit unions have a lot to offer. It is a great place to find a financial solution while helping your community. Credit unions are typically nonprofit operations owned by their members. They are not owned by individuals or conglomerates. The banks charge less in fees than for-profit banks. Any dividends go to the members instead of shareholders. These days, credit unions are a good deal. They usually offer better interest rates on savings accounts and competitive rates on various loans. You might get a fantastic rate on a student loan, mortgage, auto loan or credit car. Also, the federal government stands behind credit unions. Most deposits are insured up to $250,000. Selecting a credit union is not difficult. The first step is to research those in your community and their membership requirements. Some credit unions are available to employees of specific companies, groups of public service or school employees. But offers extend eligibility to anyone willing to follow their membership requirements. You may be asked to join a food co-op or other organization in order to qualify for membership. A simple Internet search is an excellent starting point. Develop a list of credit unions in your area. Then narrow your possibilities by researching eligibility, services offer and fees charged by each credit union. Verify the current interest rates on their accounts. If you can't find the rates online, call and ask them for the percentages Find out if there are any fees associated with the
accounts you want to open. As with traditional savings and loan banks, you might be required to pay a fee if you fall below a minimum balance. Check about other requirements. You might need to use your debit card a certain amount of times each month. If you are in the market for a specific loan, research to see if the loan is issued by the credit union. Once you have found several credit unions offer that type of loan, compare interest rates and specials to see who has the best deal. Of course, convenience is something to keep in mind. Check for availability of online services, weekday and weekend hours, where branches and ATMs are located. You should also understand any fees associated with ATM or debit card usage. If you use ATMs frequently, those charges can add up fast. Some credit unions belong to a nation network of credit unions for shared services. It might mean more access to ATMs and other services in case you move or go on vacation. If you have children attending college in other cities, this can be useful. Once you have completed your research, make a list of the advantages and disadvantages of each credit union. You can easily compare them. Upon choosing your credit union, visit the branch so you can understand all of the services. Learn more about the benefits of membership. With a little research, you will find that a credit union is a fantastic way to avoid the hassles often experienced from conventional banks.
How to Choose a Plumber Any homeowner will tell you that plumbing issues are a nightmare. They can become a major problem in old or modern houses. Sometimes, you can use a plunger or liquid product to unclog a drain. If you are experiencing chronic problems, you will need to call a professional. The issues may be far bigger than you can handle on your own. A professional plumber can determine if your septic system or equipment need to be serviced or replaced. A competent, experienced professional will ensure your house stays comfortable and sanitary. Here are some tips to help you find the best plumber. Choose Ahead of Time Start your search now, before something bad happens. Waiting until you have an urgent need is a common mistake. Emergencies leave you open to dealing with unscrupulous people. There is also a good chance that you will pay too much for their services. As soon as you can, begin your search for a plumber to service your home. Ask for Recommendations Friends and family members may be able to refer you to an excellent professional. Good word-of-mouth recommendations are the best way to find excellent service. Look for people in your local area. Sometimes, plumbers may charge extra if you are not in their designated service region. Search Online Consider looking online for a good plumber. Just remember that information on the Internet is not always
H
correct. Be mindful of who is giving a stellar customer review. Look closely for complaints about shoddy work or high prices. Dissatisfied customers are more likely to talk about their experiences. Of course, one person’s bad experience may not accurately reflect what you can expect. Look for multiple reports from different sources before drawing a conclusion.
Compare Prices Cost should always play a role in picking a plumber. Contact at least three different plumbers to get an idea of the differences in labor and material costs. They should be able to provide you with estimates for different services. It is vital that you find a professional who knows what he is doing. Whatever you save up front could turn into extra expenses down the road if the work isn’t done correctly.
Ask Questions Asking questions is the best way to form expectations. Not only should you understand labor rates, but you should also know if there are any guarantees on work. Find out how long the plumber has been in business and where he received his training.
The bottom line is that you need to hire someone who cares about their customers and their homes. Conducting a thorough search before an emergency will prevent you from being disappointed.

How To Choose a Sewing Machine
There is no better way to kick back and relax than to surround yourself with good friends and fine beverages. Whether you are planning a celebration or a quiet night among friends, finding a good liquor store can make a big difference. The best shops will provide advice, knowledge and opportunities to buy quality products.
Sewing is a popular and practical hobby. It is a fantastic way to make crafts, clothes and other items. But purchasing a sewing machine can be a major investment. Quality models have prices comparable to home appliances. How do you find the best machine? Sewing magazines and websites offer detailed customer reviewers. Internet forums and blogs will also offer evaluations of major brands. You will find positive and negative comments so you can make your own choice. Consumer Reports provides side-by-side comparisons of specific brands and their competitors. Consider what you need and want in a sewing machine, including must-have and preferred features. Remember that accessories and attachments will add to the overall cost of the machine. Take care not to go over your budget. On the other hand, a cheap, off-brand machine will give you a false savings. Inexpensive products will not last long. If you use your sewing machine frequently, buy the best product you can afford. Perhaps it means purchasing a very basic machine. Don't worry, as many manufacturers sell attachments and accessories separately. You can always buy them as you need them. The purpose of the machine is another factor. Are you using it to sew clothes, make alterations, quilt or for embroidery work? Is upholstery part of your repertoire? Compare various brands' and models' ability to meet your needs. Compact models are convenient for lightweight work. You may be able to sew on the dining room
WIDE VARIETY Look for a store that matches your personal preferences. Some shops carry local beer selections from nearby microbreweries. Others stock wines and high-end imported run or scotch. The best stores will have a mixture of popular products, along with some new, rare or exotic offerings. The liquor shop should have a variety of price points. From the most expensive to the lower-price selections, all could have an important place in a well-stocked liquor cabinet. Mixed drinks or baked recipes, for example, don't always have to include the very best brands because the flavor will be diluted with other ingredients. If you are planning to drink the liquor by itself, however, it is much better to look for a quality brand -- even if it is more expensive.
EXPERT ADVICE If you entertain frequently, your liquor purchases may be significant. The bigger investment you
make, the more important it is to get expert advice. The best liquor stores will guide you into finding the right product for a specific use or occasion. You should be able to describe the event, along with the flavors or tastes you prefer. Listen to their advice. Good, personalized service may be worth traveling a longer distance. In addition, if you use the same store frequently, they will get to know your preferences and needs. Your experiences will keep improving with each visit. OVERALL EXPERIENCE Convenience is always a factor, but it isn't the only thing to consider. Ideally, the shop should be clean, organized and in a safe neighborhood. The best liquor stores take pride in having a tidy appearance, vast selection and sophisticated staff. When you find those things in a liquor store, you can enjoy the taste of sweet success. Finally, consider the overall shopping experience. You'll want to find a store that's convenient — typically either close to your home or near your route home from work — but that's just the start. A properly managed store will take pride in its appearance, selection and employees. Look for a business that stands out from the crowd. If you can find all those things in one store, your enjoyment and relaxation will be even sweeter.
table. Complex machines might require a dedicated area in your house. Never buy a sewing machine unseen. Visit several sewing stores and try a few different models. It will allow you to build a relationship with a store that you like and trust. Dealers understand the advantages and disadvantages of each model. They will give you an honest assessment of features and benefits. Your machine will likely need repair and maintenance periodically, so choose a sewing center you like. Make a list of features before you go shopping. Note brands and models that interest you. Carry around swatches of cloth and a spool of thread so you can try out various machines. It is the best way to evaluate a product's performance. Ask yourself if it was easy to thread and adjust the tension on the machine. Ease-of-use is going to be an important factor. Your personal comfort comes into play as well. Does the machine hum along or does it make an irritating noise? Always check on the warranty and maintenance schedule, which should be included in the price of the machine. Look through the owner's manuals of each machine. Finally, look at the accessories and attachments that come with your machine. Some shop owners might be able to let you swap one attachment for another, or purchase a group of them as a package deal. Communicating with the retailer will help you get the best bargain for your preferred machine.

Tips for Selecting a Quality Hearing Aid
How to Choose a Transmission Repair Shop
Hearing loss affects more than 40 million Americans. People of all ages and backgrounds experience hearing impairment or loss. Many people seek out hearing aids to help relieve the serious consequences of this condition. As a result, they lead richer, fuller lives. These devices are highly technical, customized to meet each individual's needs. Types of hearing loss vary widely, and are sometimes quite different from person to person. Innovations in hearing aids include using digital processors to isolate and amplify the frequencies a patient needs most. Many of the latest hearing aids are so small they are practically invisible.
The transmission is an important part of your car. Without a good transmission, the car will not run properly. Fluid in the transmission lubricates shifts. This fluid needs to be replaced periodically to keep the transmission working. It is a common problem, one that is easily preventable. Sometimes breakdowns occur even if you are using clean transmission fluid. Finding a quality transmission repair shop will help you keep your car in good working order.
job. Save money by going to the transmission shop yourself.
Look for a shop that encourages proper maintenance Proper maintenance is key to ensuring the longevity of your transmission. After every 30,000 miles, you should have it serviced or cleaned to prevent problems. Good shops provide a power flush to remove and replace all transmission fluid. Some car manufacturers recommend servicing the transmission after every 50,000 miles. Many car owners have discovered that it is simply not often enough. It costs so much to replace a transmission that it is often financially smarter to just buy another car instead. That is exactly what automakers are hoping you will do. Err on the side of caution and replace your transmission fluid regularly.
Determine the type of repair work to be done Transmission work is time consuming and difficult. Professionals must remove the transmission from the vehicle. That can cost about $500 even before any other work is started. Minor transmission repairs could require the entire transmission to be rebuilt. There are only two options for repairing a transmission: remanufacturing or rebuilding. Remanufacturing remakes the transmission from used cores and replaces all moving parts. It is the equivalent to purchasing a whole new transmission. Rebuilding a transmission replaces worn-down parts. It is the most common transmission repair.
Styles The good news is that you no longer need to purchase bulky, obvious hearing aids of yesteryear. Used to be the most popular hearing aid on the market was a CIC fit completely within the air canal. While they are small, there are issues about comfort and function. The same is true with other in-the-canal styles like half-shell and full-shell. These tend to feet back more because of how close the microphones are to the speaker, also many people cannot get used to the occluded feeling and how it makes their voice sound. These in-the-canal aids now only comprise about 20 percent of all hearing aid sales. Behind-theear RIC or speaker-in-the-ear style have new taken the majority of hearing aid sales. These hearing aids can fit most losses. They are comfortable, easier to get used to, and are well suited for high frequency losses which are the most common. Internal Electronics The design of a hearing aid will make a large difference in cost and performance. Two devices may look similar but
produce dramatically different results. The difference is in the internal electronics. Nearly all hearing aids available today are digital. They will filter out background noise, enabling the wearer to hear a conversation clearly. This technology is particularly effective in crowded settings. This technology can be tailored to help with your particular kind of hearing loss. If you have an outdated hearing aid, consider upgrading to a more modern device. You will help you hearing be as close to natural as possible. Options When you are searching for a hearing aid, look for special features that will enhance your hearing and your life. Some examples include: DIRECTIONAL MICROPHONE: You can adjust your device to pick up sound that is directly in front of you. For example, when you are having one-on-one conversations with a person, it is useful to turn the microphone to improve your hearing. You may also change the program to a more general setting that would be useful at public performances or concerts. REMOTE CONTROL: Some devices allow you to adjust the settings without touching it. A remote control can change the directional microphone or amplification. This is an important feature where dexterity is a problem. Trying to find a tiny volume wheel or program button can be hard for some. BATTERY LIFE: Some batteries are so small they are hard to change and may only last 3 days. The cost of batteries could become an issue. There are a few companies that offer rechargeable batteries. Ask your hearing aid professional about a hearing ad that recharges and lasts from 16 to 20 hours on a charge.
Search for properly trained specialists You will save yourself much time and money if you search for a repair shop with a good track record. Some shops require multiple visits before the work is done correctly. Mechanics at the best repair shops are properly trained to fix a wide variety of transmissions. Do not use a general auto repair shop or dealer service for transmission repairs. It will cost you more money because they will have to subcontract with a transmission specialist to do the
Choose a credible repair shop The Better Business Bureau can also give you information about poor performing shops in your area. That organization keeps a record of complaints lodged against them. If you are considering a national chain, the Bureau of Consumer Investigations will also inform you about which stores are not reputable.
Prepare for hefty repair costs Because basic labor itself is expensive, it often makes more sense to completely rebuild your transmission rather than fixing minor issues periodically. This price will depend on the complexity and the extent of the rebuild. Remanufactured transmissions are expensive. The standard rebuilt transmission usually offers a oneyear/12,000-mile warranty. For a remanufactured transmission, the standard warranty is three-year/100,000 miles.

How to Choose a Good Weight Loss Clinic
How to Choose a Physical Therapist
Obesity is a common problem in our country. For many Americans, it is a threat to their health. Extra weight will shorten your lifespan and create a myriad of physical problems. Losing weight is a challenging process, requiring self-discipline and dedication. When you need help dieting, a weight loss clinic may be the answer. Trained professionals can educate you on good nutrition, keep you motivated and set a realistic weight loss goal. They will answer your questions and provide accountability. Each clinic has its own approach. Selecting the right program will help you reach your weight loss goals. So many diets create glamorous advertisements using famous people, but that doesn't mean their plan is the best one for you. Here are some ideas to help you find the best weight loss clinic to meet your needs.
Physical therapy helps alleviate pain. It focuses on treating musculoskeletal disorders. For example, people with back pain can receive physical therapy to strengthen the core muscles in their back. Not only will they feel better, patients may also emerge from physical therapy with a restored, functional body. Most patients visit physical therapists for chronic pain from injuries or if they recently underwent surgery. People with pain in their backs, knees, neck, shoulder or other joints can receive benefits from finding a physical therapist. Insurance companies often agree about these benefits. Most companies require patients to try physical therapy before turning to expensive surgery to fix the problem. In fact, physical therapy can actually negate the need for surgical treatment. After surgery, physical therapy might serve as part of the aftercare and recovery process. For example, when you have surgery to repair a rotator cuff, a therapist can play a huge part in a successful recovery. People with degenerative disc problems in their backs will benefit from a physical therapy regimen. It can help ease pressure and pain in their lower back. Normally, a problem like this requires surgery, but physical therapy can help patients regain a full range of motion. Physical therapists also provide the best remedy for other injuries. Someone with a reattached finger will need to practice with a physical therapist to regain feeling and movement. A person who has been incapacitated for an extended period may need physical therapy to regain their functionality. Insurance companies will likely have requirements. You may have to choose a therapy that is in-network,
Research and Visit First off, research local weight loss clinics. Visit their website because it will give you a good idea about price points and programs. Do you have to purchase special meals? Are meetings and appointments required? Make sure these commitments are convenient for you. Think of other information you may need. Many clinics provide online courses, while others hold public weigh-ins. Decide what is comfortable for you. Once you narrow down your choices, visit each facility. Observe the way staff members talk to clients. All employees should be courteous and competent to everyone, not just potential or new customers. If you have questions, bring a notebook and pencil to take notes. Plans and Referrals Although each clinic will seem as though it has the only plan that works, you must determine if it is the best program for you.
Read what others write about the various diet programs. It will help you to know what others have experienced. Always remember, however, that what works for one person might not work for another. Keep your personal requirements in mind. It should be possible to speak with existing clients about their experiences. Ask the clinic staff for referrals. Clinics with good reputations will be happy to provide you with such a list. Previous clients are often willing to talk about their own experiences, negative and positive. You can also find out if they kept the weight off. A good weight loss clinic will have a follow-up system to assist you in maintaining a healthy life. They should be able to give you their success rate. Clinics offer different levels of support, such as motivation and nutritional assistance. They might also have stress management techniques that can stop you from eating your troubles away. Do not register with anyone until you check them out with the Better Business Bureau and online reviewers. Understand each clinic’s cancellation policy. If possible, ask for a trial memberships. Many weight loss clinics allow trial periods. It offers you an opportunity to try their system without making a financial commitment. Use your time at the clinic wisely. Create good nutrition and exercise habits. You are not only there to lose weight, you are developing a healthy, lifelong lifestyle. In the end, a good weight loss clinic can go a long way toward helping you succeed. It is easy to stick with a plan when you have the assistance and support of caring staff. Whether you need to lose a small or large amount of weight, it is important to find a safe, effective way to achieve your goals.
rather than out-of-network. Your insurance may also limit the amount of visits they cover. Once you have narrowed your search to a few potential candidates, inquire about the physical therapist's previous work history. Don't be afraid of asking directly about their success rates and potential problems. Also, contact your state board of physical therapy to see if any complaints have been filed against the professional you are considering. The best physical therapists will provide emotional support as well. Treatment and recovery is very hard work, especially for patients in severe pain. When you feel exhausted, the physical therapist will provide motivation. She will not allow you to make excuses. Instead, a physical therapist will push you to your limits, which will aid in your full recovery. The therapist will inspire you to regain your full independence; this is especially important for elderly people who have problems getting around on their own. It is vital that you feel comfortable with whichever physical therapist you choose. This professional may have to examine sensitive areas of your body to check for swelling or heat. She may also massage your muscles as part of therapy. You should feel at ease and safe during this process. The physical therapist will likely provide you with follow-through exercises at home. It is very important you act on her recommendations. It will help you recover faster. With the assistance of a good physical therapist and your own hard work, you can often make recover fully and enjoy life again.
How to Choose a Massage Therapist
A bouquet is the perfect gift for a housewarming, wedding, corporate dinner or birthday party. A beautiful arrangement creates a happy and celebratory atmosphere. It brightens up a room. Getting just the right flower arrangement is the key to your success. A professional florist will know how to make the colors, types of flowers and even scent work for your occasion.
Getting a massage is a fabulous way to cope with stress. After a long day at the office or completion of a major project, massage therapy may be exactly what you need. Sore, exhausted neck, back and leg muscles need pampering. But selecting the right massage therapist takes time and forethought. You may need to try several therapists before finding the best one for you. Keep in mind that there are also a variety of different massage specialties. Before making an appointment, keep these things in mind.
Research the Florist If you are purchasing a floral arrangement for an event, ask the venue staff for recommendations. They are often familiar with the best florists in the area. Popular florists are usually quite busy year-round, so begin the process right away. Family and friends may also have suggestions. Be sure to ask them for their experiences, as well as how much they paid for the services. Call each florist to check their availability. If a florist is unavailable, scratch them off your list. Meanwhile, determine your flower budget. It will be a factor in your decision-making process. Also, look for floral arrangements in magazines. Clip out these photos and put them in a notebook. Note why you like these flowers. Once you have a list of florists who are available, visit their shops and interview them. Interview the Florist Upon entering each floral shop, look at the cleanliness and organization. Are the pathways clear of plants, tools and debris? Is the staff friendly and warm? The answers to these questions will help you understand each shop's level of customer service. All plants and flowers should be well-maintained and attractively arranged. Employees should be attentive. The best
florists have a wide range of options in their showroom. During the interview, ask if the florist has previously worked at your venue. Each facility has unique rules about what they will allow in their location. If the florist has worked at the venue, that is a big advantage. She will know and can adhere to the rules. Inform the florist of your budget and ask for recommendations. The florist should be able to give you numerous suggestions about flower arrangements. Most florists have a scrapbook of their previous work. Each professional brings a sense of personal style to her arrangements. Be sure to show the florist your notebook. Discuss the arrangements you prefer. Perhaps the florist could produce similar arrangements. If you are holding a large event, the florist might have recommendations about other event professionals. It takes a team to work a large event. A friendly, well-established relationship between your caterer and florist is especially important. Once you have chosen your florist, be certain to confirm the type of arrangements you will receive. You should also know when the arrangements will arrive at the venue and who is responsible for placing the flowers in the appropriate spots. Confirm when payment is expected. Understand the floral contract before signing anything. Get it in Writing When you are pleased with a company's work, you might assist the shop with providing positive references and reviews. A professional florist will help you go a long way toward establishing the right environment for your event. The vivid colors and pleasant aroma will convey the right feeling for your special day.

Training Most states require proper licensing for massage therapist; however other states have no requirements. Verify the regulations in your state before checking a therapist's background and experience. No matter where you live, good massage therapists have undergone professional training. It is an accepted medical practice, so finding a professional is a must. It is particularly important if you have a muscle injury or back problems. If you have medical issues, consult a doctor to find a massage therapist who can meet your needs. Specializations With several hundred kinds of massage therapies at your fingertips, it is important to research your options. Knowing the types of therapies you can receive will help you understand which is best for you. Maybe you are looking for a deep tissue massage, aromatherapy, Swedish massage or hot stone massage. Therapists use lotions, powders, and oils to increase or reduce the friction of their hands. Talk to your massage therapist. Many of them have personal specialties. They can help you decide what is best for you. References, Happy Customers If your friends or family receive massages regularly, ask
them for recommendations. Good massage therapists will leave a trail of happy customers. Reputation is often the best way to determine if someone's services are helpful. You could also request references from massage therapists. Speak with previous clients to see if their techniques are effective. Pricing The cost of massage therapy can vary dramatically. It will all depend on the type and duration of the massage, the therapist's training and even the business location. Your health insurance might cover a portion of the bill. Some insurance providers require a prescription from an osteopath or chiropractor before providing coverage. Check with your policy. Personality Massage therapy is very personal. It requires interaction between people for long periods of time. Your therapist's personality should be a good fit with yours. It will determine the quality of your experience. You should always feel comfortable with the person performing the massage. Location The location will tell you plenty about the massage services. The office should be neat, clean and professional. You might see other elements in the space to help you relax. Pleasant music, water fountains, and special lighting enhance the experience. Choosing a therapist with in a convenient location will also help you. A long drive after a massage is probably not going to be pleasant. Ask whether the massage therapist can make home or office visits. Having a massage therapist come to you is, for many people, the ultimate luxury.

Paint is one of the best ways to update the look of your house without breaking your budget. A coat of fresh paint on the walls can change the atmosphere quickly and easily. Whether you do it yourself or hire a professional, finding a great paint store is a key part of the process. Keep these aspects in mind when choosing a paint store. SELECTION You can choose from an enormous variety of paint colors and textures. Oil-based and latex paints are available in a wide range of finishes and compositions. They are also available in different grades. Cheaper paint may be thinner, messier and harder to apply than its thicker, premium competitor. You will also have to determine if you want to work with a primer. Some brands require specific primer, while other brands have products that are "paint and primer in one." A good paint store will have far more than just one line of products. They will stock paint designed for concrete floors, industrial paints that can withstand certain temperatures or chemicals, paints that will reduce mold growth. It may seem overwhelming, but more choices will give you a better results and hold up over time. Knowing your specific priorities and considerations will help guide you toward the right paint for your project. HELP Don't be afraid of getting expert advice. Even the most experienced housepainters sometimes need
guidance. That's where a quality paint store comes in. Not only will the best stores sell good products, they will also have staff people who are ready to offer suggestions and recommendations for your particular situation. They are very knowledgeable about their products. They should also offer tips on how to apply the paint. You can spend money on high-end paint products, but applying them incorrectly will give you terrible results. The paint store you choose should be able to offer you expert advice on all aspects of your project, from product selection to prep work and clean-up.
DESIGN With so many color and style selections, a good paint store can offer design advice for getting the look you want. When it comes to paint, there are endless possibilities, and the best paint store staff will help you navigate through the selections. They will know the latest style trends and offer recommendations for color palettes that work well together. If you bring them a fabric swatch, they should be able to create a duplicate color in paint. Choosing the right paints and accessories takes experience and -- quite often -- some trial and error. Be certain to get prices for mixing sample colors up front. Don't be afraid to put small quantities of these sample colors on your walls to test out your design. Once you've selected the right colors, go back to the store to purchase larger quantities of the paints to complete your project.
How to Choose a Skilled Nursing Facility for Your Loved One
As people age, they often need extra care. Others may be facing a debilitating illness. The care required can be far more than friends or family can give. Assisted living centers are popular options for people who need medical attention. In the past, long-term care could only be handled by a nursing home. Living in a hospital setting for an extended time was not a pleasant environment. Assisted living centers help patients continue to live an active lifestyle. They can live in comfortable, cost-effective setting that has many conveniences. However, this center is also a full-time medical facility. If you are searching for an assisted living center for yourself or a loved one, here are some factors to consider.
space. Imagine how your loved one's belongings might fit into the area and where decorations will be placed. If you can picture how the furniture and other items will fit, then you might've found the right place.
GARDEN AND LANDSCAPING It's a little known fact that the landscaping of an assisted living center will give you a good indication about the quality of the facility. Proper maintenance of the lawn and gardens is a good sign. If the prospective resident enjoys spending time in nature, look for a facility that has park-like areas. Some centers have community-style gardens and walkways for residents.
PERSONAL CARE Ask your loved one's personal physician how much care is required to function safely. The doctor may even be able to guide you toward an appropriate facility. Be sure seek advise on what qualifications and certifications you need to look for in the center's staff. The center's employees should be well-qualified to handle medical needs. If you monitor the medical care, you can avoid paying for extensive services that your loved one may not need. Understand the care the person requires will help you find a center that is a good fit. Choosing an assisted living facility is about finding the right combination of medical services and amenities. With research and thought, you will find the perfect place to bring comfort and care to your loved one.
Finding a skilled nursing facility for a loved one can be a challenge for everyone involved. With hundreds of choices available, it can be difficult to sort through all of your options. Your best choices are facilities that have high scores from state agencies such as the nursing-home regulatory agency or department of health. The nursing staff in these facilities are required to complete a formal certification process. As a result, the staff at a nursing facility is usually much more skilled and regulated than staff at an assisted living facility. That's because the staff at skilled nursing facilities provide and administer prescription medications. Assisted living facility staff do not usually have the same authorization. Skilled nursing facilities provide more personalized care to residents who are suffering from advanced age, severe illness or infirmity. Assisted living residents live in a somewhat private environment and perform most of their daily living activities with minimal staff assistance. Your loved one will need reassurance that he or she will be safe and well taken care of by a highly skilled nursing staff. Select a facility close to your loved one's family and friends. It should be easy to see your loved one. Frequent visits will help ease the transition from independent living to a skilled nursing environment. You can form an accurate opinion by visiting several facilities. Reputable centers will have no problems
HOME AMENITIES Accommodations at these centers can range from luxurious, detached cottages to cozy condominiums. Look at the home amenities and consider how they meet your budget. As you visit the facilities, try to personalize each
RECREATION FACILITIES Game and meeting areas can help the resident make new friends. Leaving the confines of their units is an important part of recovery. Make sure the center offers activities and space to occupy your loved one's time. Quality facilities will have activities that match his or her hobbies. If your family member enjoys crafts, then look for a center with a designated craft area or classes for your loved one to enjoy.
with scheduling interviews with staff or giving tours of the living areas and grounds. If a facility doesn't allow you to see these areas or have a meeting with the director, it should be dropped from your list. Cleanliness, cheerful decor and happy residents neatly dressed are symbols of a quality facility. Speak to current residents and their families to get a good assessment of the facility. Family members will likely provide the most unbiased and unvarnished opinion of the facility. Most high-quality skilled nursing facilities are significant investments. They provide a much higher level of care and so they cost more. Talk with an attorney who specializes in nursing facility cases for advice on cost, as well as quality of care. The decision to put your loved one in a particular facility is not permanent. If your family member is not receiving good care or shows signs of abuse, you have the right to remove him or her. Frequent visits are important so you can monitor the health and wellbeing of your loved one. See him or her at different times of the day to verify the level of care. You can never be too choosy when it comes to your loved one. Take all the time you need when searching for a skilled nursing facility. Putting a loved one in a facility can be difficult and emotionally challenging. Finding the best one you can afford will give you peace of mind.

Selecting a Septic Service
How to Choose a Gold Buyer
Your septic system is one of the most critical components to your home. When it is working properly it is easy to forget about it. But when it breaks you won't be able to think of anything else. Choosing a septic service repair company will help you maintain your system. Choose a qualified company before there is a crisis. Thinking ahead will save you possible time and grief later.
Whether economic times are good or bad, people often use precious metals to shelter their money. In the past few years, interest in gold has increased sharply. A growing number of Americans are rummaging through their house looking for broken gold jewelry. Selling gold necklaces, rings and other items has become a common way to get quick cash. But this popular trend has been accompanied by less scrupulous experts who lack experience in determining the proper value of these items. Many pieces of jewelry might be worth more than their gold content or melt value. Anyone can make a mistake, but fly-by-night operators will often offer far less than the melt value of the gold in these items. They are counting on your lack of knowledge. Infomercials have also flooded the airwaves with ploys offering "immediate cash for your unwanted gold." But mailing gold in flimsy prepaid envelopes to these dealers is the same as dropping cash into the mail. Always exercise caution when selling gold. While many buyers are honest and reputable, finding them requires research. Here are some tips to help you get the most money from selling your unwanted gold. First, do some research to determine the gold content of an item. Remember that gold is soft, so it must be alloyed with other metals to increase its hardness and durability. Jewelry usually has an inscription identifying the purity of its gold content. For instance, 24-karat gold contains 99.9 percent gold. It is measured
Qualifications Working on a septic system is not something that a general handyman can do. Finding a qualified professional company will ensure that the maintenance or repair is being done properly. Reputable companies only employ highly trained people who understand how to work around the dangerous chemicals in the septic system. Following proper procedures will prevent damage to your tank as well as your yard. Professionals avoid digging up your yard while doing their work. They can accomplish normal maintenance with minimal damage. Budget Budget is always a concern, especially these days. Keep in mind that your septic system is an essential part of your house. There should be no delay in maintaining it. If a price for service seems too good to be true, it probably is. Selecting the cheapest service is not usually the best decision. The work might prove to be unacceptable. They might also use unqualified workers to perform professional services. Using low-quality services could cost you twice as much. After all, you will need a professional to clean up the mess of the low-quality predecessor. Knowledge of Septic System Requirements Understand the maintenance that needs to be completed on your system. Cut down the cost of a standard pumping by locating the pump-out hatches prior to the company's arrival.
Otherwise, you are paying the workers an hourly rate to perform manual labor tasks such as digging for the hatches themselves. Before the company arrives on your property, you should have an understanding about the services they are performing. Are they simply pumping the tank and removing sewage or do you need maintenance services as well. Sometimes, septic companies will perform additional services along with routine pumping. It might cost more than standard services, but these services will help you maintain your system and give you peace of mind. Selecting A Single Provider A one-stop shop is always better than hiring multiple companies. Avoid confusion by hiring a single company to perform multiple services. They will often give you a price break for the work. You can find good septic repair companies by searching your local newspaper classifieds or a phone book. Social media sites will also tell you about companies in your area. Websites will provide general information, company philosophy and perhaps even cost figures. Your best option, however, is to get a referral. Ask family and friends whom they have used. Strong referrals can save you thousands of dollars and endless hours of frustration. When you have a list of companies, select two or three of them. Contact the companies and ask questions. How long will it take to complete the job? What are the possible solutions to your problems? Have they done similar work in he past? How long does the repair usually last? Most importantly, get quotes in writing. They should spell out exactly how much the services will cost. Of course, request a copy of all receipts related to the repair when it is completed. Many companies might tell you that they can't guarantee a price until they begin the repair. That's fine, as long as you understand the added costs you might incur if additional issues are found with your septic system.
in terms of a troy ounce, equal to about 1.097 avoirdupois ounces, the kind of ounce we use in measuring butter, flour and body weight. One troy ounce of 14-karat gold contains 14/24th troy ounce of the pure metal. Next, take your gold items to reputable jewelers in your area for their opinion. A jeweler may charge a small fee for this service. It is the best way to establish the gold content when the piece lacks markings. Take it to more than one jeweler to verify the findings. The Better Business Bureau and the Internet are valuable sources of information about gold buyers. Poor dealers usually leave a pile of complaints from disgruntled sellers whom they've allegedly cheated. Do not deal with these companies. Also, if a gold buyer operates from their home or business unrelated to precious metals, drop that person from your list. They probably don't have enough experience to provide an accurate evaluation of your items. It pays to use a local business. If you must mail your gold items, insure the package and use registered mail available at the United States Postal Service. You could use a shipper that offers package tracking and delivery verification. Do not trust someone you don't know and have never met. Learn as much as you can before visiting a gold dealer. Information is your ally. There are reputable gold buyers doing business today, and they will pay you for the true value of your piece. Doing the proper research and taking precautions will help you find the best people doing business today.

How to Choose a Produce Department
Selecting a daycare can seem like a daunting task. It is important that you choose a place where you'll feel comfortable leaving your child. Daycares can vary widely in terms of professionalism and quality, so it is vital that you research each place you are considering. Making on-site visits will tell you plenty about the quality of the facility. Schedule an appointment with the director so you can ask questions. Have your children accompany you on this trip so you can see how they will react to this environment. Observe your child and gauge his or her comfort level. Here are other factors to consider when choosing a daycare.
Doctors and dietitians agree fruits and vegetables are fantastic for your health. They can satisfy a sugar craving. Raw vegetables can help fill an empty stomach. When you want to lose weight, there is no better meal than a colorful salad. Perhaps you think all produce departments are the same, but they don't have the same selections. The best departments are adept at purchasing, storing and presenting produce creatively while preserving its nutrient content. Selecting quality produce doesn't have to be difficult. Here are suggestions to help you find the best produce department in your area.
STAFF The quality of a daycare rests on its employees. These staff people must be reliable and responsible. Request information on background checks of the staff. Ask about the ratio of caregivers to children. Adults cannot do their jobs effectively when they have to care for 30 children at once with no extra assistance. Good hygiene habits are a must. Sickness is easily spread among children and adults at a daycare. Observe how the employees interact with children. They should communicate well and like kids. The best daycare employees do not play favorites. They spend equal time with everyone and make every child feel important. BUILDING The facility should be in a safe and inviting environment. It should have bright colors and fun decor. The lighting needs to be adequate. Inspect the bathrooms, dining areas and nap rooms. Everything should be decorated with children in mind. Look outside at the play areas. Every area should be designed with safety in mind. Look for locks on doors, sharp edges and dangerous objects that might be in a child's reach. ENTERTAINMENT AND ACTIVITIES No child should be bored at a daycare. High-quality daycares offer
activities to keep your child preoccupied throughout the day. Ask the director what kind of activities are available for children. It should be a mixture of free play and structured activities. Crafts, music, stories and age-appropriate lessons will help your child grow. DISCIPLINE Discipline is an essential issue. Ask the daycare how they deal with specific discipline issues. What are the consequences for undesirable behavior? Also, if your child has difficulties with sharing, talk to them about how they might handle it. They should give you thoughtful answers. Ask for a copy of the daycare's rules. OTHER QUESTIONS The daycare should have a stringent sickness policy. It will protect your child from catching viruses frequently. You don't want to pay for a month of daycare only to have the child stay home because of illness. As well, the daycare should ask for a copy of the child's vaccination records. Throughout your visit, look to see if your child seems genuinely interested and comfortable. How does he or she interact with the other children. If your child is shy, see how the teachers get timid kids to engage with others. Observe how your child interacts with the teachers. How do they address your child during the visit? Does the daycare have toys and activities that interest him or her? If your child is of speaking age, you can ask directly for his opinion of the daycare. Selecting a daycare is such an important decision. Look at each option thoroughly before making a final decision. Follow your gut instinct. If you feel something is wrong at a particular facility, don't be afraid of crossing them off your list. You can find another daycare that is more comfortable for you and your child. With a bit of close observation and intuition, you should have no trouble finding a suitable daycare for your child.

Freshness Freshness is the most important factor when shopping for produce. When produce travels across the country -- from the field to the store shelf -- it takes time. Each day on the road takes away flavor and freshness. It loses texture and taste. Companies contend with this problem in many ways. They refrigerate the produce at a certain temperature. They try to shorten the transport time. Nevertheless, the highest quality produce will come from your closest farms. Buying locally helps your neighbors. Buying produce in season is also a way to ensure freshness. For example, apples are harvested in the fall and succulent tomatoes are best in the summer. These items are picked right before they are fully ripe. By comparison, purchasing apples in the spring means they will be held in storage for almost a year. They will lose their juiciness and texture. Produce grown in a greenhouse is usually very expensive. It isn’t always easy choosing fruits and vegetables at peak ripeness. Produce department employees can guide you. They should be happy to provide recommendations on apples, greens, tomatoes and pineapples that will work best in your recipes. Variety Variety is another aspect to consider when choosing a produce department. You should have access to a wide selection that provides opportunities to experiment when cooking.
Some pumpkins are fabulous for pies while others are strictly for decoration. One red pepper variety is wonderful in a sauteed dish while another is best eaten raw. Fruits look alike, but there are significant differences in flavor and juiciness. Having a wide selection also means you can try new produce and develop a better palate. Taste testing new foods is fun. You may develop new favorites in your produce aisle. It is a healthy way to treat yourself well. Locally Grown Food Many shoppers opt to purchase locally grown fruits and vegetables. It is better for the economy and environment. Shipping it from orchard or field doesn’t require much fuel for transportation. As a result, you get better tasting produce and help reduce greenhouse gas emissions. Organic Organic produce is one of the most popular options these days. Grown without chemical pesticides and fertilizers, organic foods are a good choice for anyone looking to improve their overall health. Sometimes, this produce tastes better than their chemically assisted counterpart because they require more attention from the grower. People often complain that organic foods are more costly, but its increasing popularity has helped bring its price down. Good produce departments offer organic and non-organic produce with no significant price difference. In this way, healthier eat can fit most budgets. Time Savers Americans don’t have a lot of time for preparing produce. You can save time by purchasing fruits and vegetables already sliced and diced. Traditional bagged salads, veggies trays, sliced apples are now easy snacks. Wrapped potatoes and pre-seasoned skillet vegetables can go straight from a bag to your stovetop. New types of produce are being developed all the time, so look for a produce department that carries these foods.

The right orthopedic surgeon will help heal injuries to your shoulders, hands, joints or knees. These medical professionals provide help for sports injuries or joint replacements. When you are having a major surgical procedure on your musculoskeletal system, it is essential to find the best medical professional for the job. Time, persistence and research can put you on the right path to recovery. Here are some tips to help you find the best surgeon for your needs.
-- such as physical therapy, dietary or lifestyle changes -before performing surgery. Others think it is wiser to do surgery before a problem gets worse. At your initial consultation with an orthopedic surgeon, try to understand their medical philosophy. Think about whether it matches your expectations. The surgeon should make you feel comfortable and confident. A good bedside manner, with excellent knowledge, experience and communication, will make you feel more relaxed about your health care decisions.
Recommendations Ask your primary care physician for the names of orthopedic surgeons. Your doctor is the best resource for finding a medical professional who can handle your case effectively. Other medical professionals in his practice might also be able to refer you. It is vital that you find a surgeon who specializes in what you need. For example, a man with a sports injury and an elderly person who needs a knee replacement will require two very different doctors. Request information about the surgeon’s background, where he attended medical school and where he did his residency. Many orthopedic specialists become experts at performing one or two types of procedures. Keep in mind that the more experience they have with cases like yours, the more likely you will have a good outcome after the procedure.
Full Spectrum The best surgeons help you with preparation and recovery from your medical treatment. They do more than just perform an actual procedure. They will take the time to answer all your questions patiently and offer practical suggestions to help you hasten your recovery. As well, the doctor will look at your lifestyle to help you become healthier. He will not simply fix your broken or painful body part. Changing your lifestyle and taking better care of yourself may lessen the need for surgery in the future.
Philosophy Qualified doctors don’t often share the same philosophy when it comes to medical treatment. Some surgeons prefer having patients try other options
Hospital Privileges Surgeons must be allowed to operate in facilities. Different hospitals have different levels of technology and equipment. You will want to have the procedure done at a hospital that is equipped to fit your needs. If you prefer to have the surgery performed at a particular hospital, check to make sure the surgeon is approved to operate at the facility.

How to Choose an Orthodontist While not everyone is born with that perfect set of teeth, an orthodontist has the skills to create one for his patients. A perfect smile gives an impression of confidence, health and happiness. A good orthodontist provides a treatment regimen customized to the individual and delivered through compassionate service. Orthodontists all complete similar education and training requirements but not all are equally gifted and caring practitioners. There are several traits the best ones all share. Word-of-mouth recommendations from neighbors, friends and coworkers provide some of the best information. People who have had a positive experience while sitting in an orthodontist’s office are usually eager to spread the word. SERVICE Good service is one of the prime factors in finding a good orthodontist. You’re going to be visiting him or her frequently for a year or more. It’s wise to find one with whom you can build a relationship based on trust and mutual respect. You’ll endure some physical discomfort while in the treatment chair. That’s expected. However, the patient waiting area should be comforting and soothing. Many initial visits are free to new patients, so pay close attention to the way the staff treats you and others. Children are often orthodontic patients, so watch their actions and emotions closely. You’re going to be seeing a lot of the staff as well as the doctor for several months. It helps if you and they share a cordial relationship. People lead busy lives. An orthodontist who schedules appointments to reduce waiting time is a treasure. Hold out for one who respects your time schedule. Feeling at ease with your orthodontist is another important factor in having a good overall experience. The best ones personally perform most of the work on your braces themselves and won’t offload it on staff members. Having an orthodontist who listens to your questions and provides clear answers is a necessity. You’re not just a number on a patient file. A good orthodontist regards you as a valued client and treats you accordingly. Dental assistants are active and contributing professional members of your treatment team, so it is wise to form good relationships with
them. They perform a number of important treatment phases and have undergone rigorous training supplemented by continuing education classes. TECHNOLOGY There are several orthodontic systems for straightening teeth. Ask your doctor during your first visit about which technologies he uses. Each system is quite different from the others in terms of appearance and function. Some require more adjustments than others, and some take longer to do the job. This is also the time to ask lots of questions about the technology. Your orthodontist should explain the trade-offs between one system and another. Each system has its strengths and weaknesses. Ask him to explain why he or she prefers one method over the others. There are always advances being made in orthodontic procedures and the patient is the one who really benefits. One popular option for braces is the Damon System, which doesn't use elastic or metal ties. Since there are no "rubber bands" in your mouth, the Damon System is a discreet, comfortable, easy-to-clean choice that doesn't attract plaque like older-style braces that use elastic ties. CLEAR BRACES Clear braces are a great option for people who are concerned about how their mouths will look during treatment. While invisible braces are heavily promoted, they aren’t right for every patient. Clear braces are the next best thing. Orthodontic patients are unique from one another. Some have teeth that are more crowded than their neighbor’s, while others have special individual needs. Clear braces often work better for these people than do clear aligners, a more gradual straightening technique. If you’re considering clear braces, ask your orthodontist why he or she uses a particular type. This information will help guide your choice in which system you opt for. Orthodontia is a significant investment not only of time and money but also of self-esteem. It doesn’t pay to let just anyone put his or her hands in your mouth to twist wires and make you miserable for a few days. The right combination of education, certification, experience and personality and technology should make the months of suffering worthwhile.

How to choose the right solar energy products There are many reasons to consider using solar energy, and many different choices to consider. Some of us are concerned with leaving a smaller carbon footprint. Some are worried about global warming, air pollution, or simply want to reduce their energy costs. The federal government is encouraging some types of alternate energy use by means of a federal tax rebates for some products. There are many ways to harness the free energy that our sun provides. If you are constructing a new home you can align the structure to face in a southern direction and put most of the windows on the side of the house. Solariums on the south side also collect sunlight during the day plus emit the heat in the evening. Other passive solar options would include skylights. They provide free natural lighting that is beneficial to your health and makes the colors in your house more vibrant then artificial lighting. Use care selecting contractor to install your skylights. They require experience in cutting your joists/rafters and flashing plus roofing techniques.
Another option is solartubes which accomplishes the same thing but doesn't require any structural changes in your roofing. They capture the sunlight and transfer it to your living space via a highly reflector tube. In both cases natural light can help you beat the blues in the winter. Always ask for references. Active Solar photovoltaic cells covert sunlight energy to electrical energy. The initial cost of the array of cells is offset by the energy savings of being "off the grid". This is one of the options that is being supported by a federal tax rebate. Some small homes in remote areas get their entire energy requirements from solar cells. Other options would include solar cell attic fans to reduce your cooling costs in the summer and prevent ice damage plus condensation buildup in the winter. Whatever your choices due diligence is required. Pick a contractor and product with an establishment record.

How to choose the right fitness center for you Congratulations! Deciding to join a fitness center is the first step toward improving your fitness level. It can be overwhelming, however, to choose among the many types of centers: from bare-bones “muscle-head” gyms to women-only centers to full-service facilities offering a variety of fitness options. Your fitness and health goals should guide your decision. A look at some common reasons for joining a gym should clarify your decision. I want to start to get healthier You should look for a center that offers a comprehensive member orientation program that includes a health assessment, goal-setting, one-on-one instruction and follow-up after several workouts. Some gyms have fitness staff on the floor so that you always have an expert nearby. A great way to make real progress on your goals, learn new exercises and stay motivated is to work with a personal trainer. Finally, look for a center that offers a wide range of group classes both land and aqua; you’re sure to find something that you love while you’re meeting new people and having fun. I want to lose weight! Look for a facility where you can easily vary your workouts—cardio, strength, flexibility, endurance—to keep your body responding to new routines. A knowledgeable personal trainer will design an exercise program suited to your goals and limitations, then guide and motivate you as your body changes in response to your weight loss. Some fitness centers also have an affiliation with a nutritionist to consult on your diet.
I need to rehabilitate from an illness or injury. The ideal center will be affiliated with a hospital or physical therapy practice (and may be called a wellness center or medical fitness center). This affiliation typically means that special programs are in place to guide you after rehabilitation into a regular fitness routine. Some centers even offer exercise prescription programs, where your own physician prescribes the appropriate exercise for you. Further, seek out an experienced and skilled personal trainer; many specialize in illness and injury rehabilitation.
I want to relax, reduce stress— and have fun! It’s widely known that all exercise helps you reduce stress, so you’re already on the right path. Look for a center that offers a range of group classes both land and aqua. Many people find that yoga, Pilates and centering/meditation-type classes are effective stress-busters. Fast-paced, energetic group classes, such as Zumba, can be a lot of fun as well as a great workout.
My family and I want to be fit for a lifetime The ideal gym for your family will feature a wide variety of amenities, including one-on-one and small group training, cardio, aqua, group classes, strength machines and free weights, court sports and more. Look for a fitness center that offers a range of options for all ages and exercise levels, from babysitting and kid-specific programs to classes designed specifically for seniors.
Shopping for appliances can be a fun experience. The latest appliances have every imaginable feature. Looking at the most innovative technology is enjoyable, especially if it is something that could make your life better. When you are looking for an appliance store, choose one with superior customer service and high-quality items. Remember that spending too much money can put a serious crimp in your personal finances. Make sure you think about your budget before beginning your search.
Other stores will use price-matching to stay competitive. Not all stores have policies on pricematching, so be sure to ask. If you can find a lower advertised price on the exact same product and model elsewhere, many stores will sell you the product for that price. As always, conduct research on the appliance you need to make sure you are spending money wisely. Not all appliances are the same; just because one manufacturer was excellent two decades ago doesn't mean the quality will be the same now.
LOOK ONLINE Your first step is to search the Internet. Your neighborhood might have many appliance stores. They might all look the same. So how you can tell them apart? Business review sites will give you a good idea of the service offered by various companies. Take customer complaints lightly, however, since people who have negative experiences are more likely to talk about them. Consumer Reports (www.consumerreports.org) and the Better Business Bureau (www.BBB.org) are also great resources for finding reputable businesses. To qualify for listing on the Better Business Bureau site, the business must be reliable and honest. Many stores also have message boards for customers to leave comments and reviews for the services and the products they sell.
STORE POLICIES Review the store's policies about warranties and repairs. When the appliance comes with a one-year manufacturer's warranty, you might not need an additional warranty from the store. Appliances have a yearly sale price cycle. Washers and dryers usually go on sale during the winter. Refrigerators are often discounted in the spring, and stoves and ovens in the fall. If you don't need it right away, consider shopping seasonally for the the best deal. You could also haggle for a price. Salespeople are typically prepared for this process. If you are too shy or afraid of haggling, ask the store for an extended warranty or free delivery and set-up. It never hurts to ask. They just might give it to you. Other factors to consider when finding a good appliance store: delivery window, warranty options, repair services and range of products offered. When you have these questions answered, then you can purchase your appliances with confidence.
LOOK FOR ADS Check weekly advertisements, either in your mail, local newspaper or online. Some appliance stores offer specials on certain products.
If you are a bargain hunter with unique tastes, you will likely spend lots of time at garage sales. You might even scan classified ads and websites looking for cool purchases. You might also consider visiting your local pawn shop. These stores serve a dual purpose. They provide fast cash for people in a sudden financial bind, but they also offer quality merchandise at a great price. You might find electronics, jewelry and sometimes even firearms at below retail rates. Here are some factors to consider when looking for a pawn shop.
tory over another. While one store might have a variety of musical instruments, another might sell jewelry and family heirlooms. It takes some browsing to figure out which shops sell the products you are seeking. The best thing about pawn shops is that their merchandise is constantly changing. Each time they receive more inventory, or a pawned item goes on the sales floor for the first time, you can discover new and exciting things to buy. That's why smart pawn store shoppers make repeat visits to the same stores. You never know what treasures have suddenly become available.
FAIR DEALS If you looking to sell or pawn an item -- which means using a possession as collateral on a loan -- then a pawn shop's reputation will be important. The best pawn shops have a reputation for offering fair deals to their customers. If you own something of value, like a diamond ring or photography equipment, you can leave it at a pawn shop and borrow a portion of its value. When you pay the loan back on time, you get the merchandise back. If you don't pay the loan in a timely manner, the pawn shop keeps your property and sells it for a profit. Pawning is one of the simplest and oldest ways of borrowing money. It can be a good option if you need cash quickly. It is vital that you find a pawn shop that will offer you a fair price for what you own, whether you are selling it outright or pawning it.
QUALITY First time visitors to pawn shops are often surprised by the quality of merchandise they find. Late-model electronics, powerful computers, name-brand items and highend jewelry are just some of the things that you can find in pawn shops throughout the country. Look for a store with a good mix of quality merchandise and affordable prices. Don't be afraid of negotiating with the salespeople. Most pawn store owners are used to some level of haggling, and it never hurts to ask for a better deal.
GOOD SELECTION Shoppers can also find amazing deals at their local pawn shops, provided they know what to look for. Some pawn shops tend to favor one type of inven-
CONVENIENCE Finally, look for a pawn shop that is convenient for you to visit. It should be in a neighborhood close to your home or office, in a safe and easy location. There is no need for you to feel nervous to visit the store. When you find a local pawn shop with the right mix of merchandise in an ideal location, chances are you'll end up spending more of your time and budget there. It is a smart way to shop locally.

How to Choose an Auctioneer If you are liquidating a business, selling off an estate or raising money for a good cause, then consider using an auctioneer. Auctions are fun for the participants and host. It is a fantastic way to make a profit. When searching for an auctioneer, there are a few things to consider. Auctioneers specialize in auction types, so look for the right one to fit your needs. Many auctions are personality-driven events, so be sure you select an auctioneer who is gregarious and personable. This person much have the gift of speech, a touch of humor and the ability to develop a rapport with the audience. The success of your auction will depend on how much the auctioneer can establish a relationship with the audience. After all, he will entice bidder to participate. A great auctioneer can make a sale or entice people to bid on unattractive items. Look for an auctioneer at an auction house. The best auctioneers are independent contractors with skills and a long track record of experience. You can also utilize the Internet or your local newspaper to find a qualified auctioneer. Most newspapers have an auction section in their advertising section. If you use the Internet, be sure to visit the website of a certified institution. Not every site lists credentialed auctioneers. If you’ve exhausted these sources, contact the National Auctioneers Association or visit their website, www.auctioneers.org. Many auctioneers
belong to professional organizations such as the Certified Auctioneers Institute, or CAI. By hiring an auctioneer with this certification, you can know he or she has had extensive training. Auctioneers with this certification are also held to a higher standard of integrity. While it it important to use a professional, especially for large events, sometimes it can be difficult to find a person in your area. If you can't find a professional, look for someone in your community with charisma. Sometimes a well-known person can also draw people to your event. Your potential auctioneer should undergo some training in the overall auction process. There are often logistics that must be explained beforehand. When speaking to candidates, be sure to ask for references and work history. Verify licensing and check that they are actively working auction events. Once you have a list of finalists, attend an auction and watch them perform. Pay attention to how they handle attendees and the pacing of the event. Take notes on each auctioneer. Once you have narrowed your list to one or two candidates, perform a background check and obtain reliable references. After you have completed this process, you can relax and have fun alongside the participants of your event. The right auctioneer will not only be entertaining, he or she will get the job done with ease.
Selecting the Right Insurance Agent for Your Needs Shopping for the right insurance agent can feel overwhelming. After all, there are plenty of things to consider. You need to find a company that offers the right mix of service, coverage and an affordable price. The challenge may simply be not knowing how to identify a reliable, reputable agent. Remember that everyone needs insurance coverage. An experienced agent can walk you through various options, keeping in mind your budget and lifestyle. Before choosing an insurance plan, you will need to identify an agent to guide you through the process. Your financial future depends on finding the right person to help you get insurance that will fit your needs. Your family, friends and colleagues have likely worked with insurance agents in the past. Ask people you trust for referrals. If you receive a recommendation, it is because that person has had a positive experience. There is a good likelihood that you will have similar results. Successful agents understand that offering great service will keep them in business. Their careers depend on word-of-mouth. If you are happy with the service you receive, your insurance agent will appreciate your willingness to refer acquaintances to her in the future. If you do not have recommendations, begin researching your options. Begin by looking at local companies and brokers. Large insurers give all of their agents the same training. Each agent will be subject to the same company policies. In some ways, that can be comforting. However, agents at large companies may lack creativity and flexibility in how they handle their accounts. As you conduct your research, be thorough and critical. Buying a policy is similar to purchasing a new car or home. It is truly that important.
H
w a Select a company that is highly regarded by consum-a
ers. Read reviews of each company to determine who has the most satisfied clients. Are they easy to workl with? Have there been any problems with collecting onk a policy? Also, check that any prospective agent has all necessary licenses and training. After narrowing your list of prospective agents, makei an appointment to visit each one. Prepare a list of ques-Q tions and concerns about your personal situation. Take notes during your meeting. Remember that you musta p feel comfortable with the answers before purchasing aa policy. If an agent tries to pressure you into making a deci-a sion right away, inform him that you need more time and cannot sign anything immediately. The right agent will let you take as much time as you need to understand the implications of each policy. Theyy will give you useful information and not subject you tod high-pressure sales techniques. s Your agent should be available. The relationship doesn't end once the sale is completed. Your dialoguel should be continuous. The best agents are available in v the event you have to file a claim. Agents who have been in business for many yearsy likely have a good reputation and track record. They understand the policies and will even take extra care that you are properly protected. It is essential that you choose the right type anda a amount of insurance to adequately protect yourself ande your financial future. The policy should be tailored to fitt your specific needs. A seasoned, skilled insurance agent will be an invalu-q able resource for safeguarding your future. r

The right attorney can make a big difference between winning and losing your case. No matter what legal issue you are facing, you can find an attorney who matches your needs -and advocates strongly for side of the case. o Don't settle for a second rate lawyer. The outcome of your klegal issue is just too important. Here are some factors to nkeep in mind when choosing a lawyer.
Affordability Do not settle for inexpensive legal representation. In this einstance, you will need to hire the best lawyer you can afford. -Quality should always come first when it comes to attorneys. e If you are facing a criminal case and cannot afford an attorney, ask for a court-appointed lawyer. Taxpayers pay these representatives to help people in need. A courtaappointed lawyer can provide you with valuable assistance. Also, never hire an attorney who has been disbarred in -any state.
-
d
Relevant Issues
u The legal issue you are facing will determine the attorney
you need. For example, people who have been arrested for
odriving while intoxicated will require a criminal lawyer who
specializes in traffic law. Real estate transactions are best handled by a real estate elawyer. n Many lawyers specialize in a variety of legal issues. It is vital that you hire a lawyer who practices in the type of law syou need.
References Sometimes, finding a great attorney can be as simple as dasking your family or friends for referrals. If you are getting a divorce, look for people in your social network who have dexperienced that issue. People are usually happy to share ttheir experiences and opinions. You can also ask attorneys for references. A -quality professional should be able to provide you with recommendations from previous clients.
t
Case History Case histories might help you gauge an attorney’s competency. Websites will help you determine a lawyer’s success rate. You can also find out if an attorney you are considering has a high settlement rate. Ask attorneys directly about their case histories. Any lawyer with a good track record will readily provide the information. Online Ratings Other websites rate attorneys. They are also a great resource for client reviews. Don’t give positive or negative reviews much credence. Not every one is honest nor is every one a lie. Focus on comments about a lawyer’s availability, personality and results. Your attorney needs to be in your corner. You should not have to struggle to get into contact with him. Always keep in mind that gruff lawyers are sometimes the best ones. While no attorney should treat you rudely, you are paying for their services. Tough, even-handed attorneys can be an asset. A personable lawyers is great, but if that person has a terrible success rate, choose another. Consultation Take advantage of any free consultations. Most attorneys offer them. The meeting will allow you to discover if the lawyers is a good match for you. If you feel discomfort during the meeting, do not hire the attorney. Simply thank them for their time. If your initial consultation is not free, look elsewhere. Needing an attorney can be frightening. You might feel stressed an uncertain. Finding a lawyer you can trust will give you confidence that you can resolve your situation successfully. Ask questions during your free consultation. Expect forthright answers. How to Choose an Auto Body Shop Anyone who has experienced a car accident knows that it can be a calamitous event. Once you have dealt with any resulting health issues, you will have to contend with damage to your automobile. Whether your car has experienced significant damage or simply a scratch, it is vital to find an auto body shop that is trustworthy and dependable. Even the smallest accident can throw your schedule into disarray. A good auto body shop will ensure that your car, truck, SUV or minivan is repaired quickly, affordably and correctly. The shop you choose should be able to complete all manner of work, from a minor touch-up to a fullbody repair. Your friends, family and colleagues might have recommendations. After all, auto body shops are a necessary part of life for most people. Once you have a list of names, research each shop on the Internet and read customer reviews. Testimonials, negative and positive, should be considered. But keep in mind that no business has a 100 percent satisfaction rate. Someone will always be displeased. Also, more people are likely to leave a negative rather than a positive comment. If your social network doesn't have good recommendations, consult the Yellow Pages, advertising supplements or the Internet. Once you have created a list of shops, contact them on the phone. Describe the problem and listen for the response. If the person seems knowledgable and friendly, keep that shop on the list. However, if the person
seems rushed and uninterested, it can mean the shop is very busy. It might also have poor customer service. Eliminate them from your list. When you have chosen an auto body shop, visit their store. Check for prices, certifications guarantees. Understand that you will often get what you pay for when it comes to auto body work. Low prices may be tempting, but they typically mean sub-par work, used parts and paint incorrectly applied. Feel free to ask the manager or owner for references before they work on your car. They should have previous satisfied customers with whom you can contact. You can also check their previous work. When you see a car with paint drips, panels that are misaligned or paints that don't match, look elsewhere. You will not save money if you need to have the improper work redone. The shop should inspect your vehicle for repairs that are not readily visible. Quality auto body shops should be able to complete an entire job onsite. Our cars, trucks, SUVs and minivans get us to work on time, back and forth to school and transport our families to and from their destinations. Choosing a great auto body shop is important for yourself and your family. The right auto body shop will have superior customer service, great prices and excellent quality of work.

Learning to dance is a healthy activity that can be enjoyed by nearly everyone. Here are some tips to make the process of choosing a teacher or studio less confusing.
Ask yourself: why do I want to learn to dance? Do you crank your radio and boogie in the kitchen? Did your doctor tell you to get some exercise? Do you need an escape from work? Have you and your spouse not had a date since before the kids were born? Are you single, but loath the pick-up bar and club scene? Do you long for a social forum where the focus isn’t on drinking? Is there a wedding, cruise, or other event coming up? Are you achievement oriented, competitive? Have you seen “Dancing With The Stars” and wished that was you on stage? Are you a man that has figured out that women really like to dance with men that know how? What kind of lessons should I take? Private Lessons allow the teacher to tailor your lessons to your individual needs and learning style. You also get the chance to actually learn through feeling (kinesthetic learning) as you dance with your instructor. Group Lessons give you the opportunity to dance with other students at your level. You will learn visually and verbally (show and tell) in these lessons. Plus, when you do go to a party, you will already be comfortable with your classmates and thus have more fun. Are Group Lessons offered at numerous proficiency levels? Ideally, you should take advantage of both kinds of instruction as they will reinforce each other, easing and speeding your progress.
How do I look for excellence in instruction? If you are considering lessons at a club, church, or
college you will want to know it the lessons are taught by a member or by a professional. Usually professionals are associated with a studio where the singular focus is on dancing and teaching. Most of us start just wanting to know a couple of steps in a couple of dances. Know that as you learn more about dancing, your desires will likely change. Does the studio you are considering have the expertise to take you there? If the directors of the studio have teaching and judging certification this expertise will be shared with the teachers and thus with the students (you). Other telltale signs of excellence could be awards, community service, teaching at competitions and/or overseas, books, television. Does where the lessons or parties are held matter to me? Ask yourself if the location feels safe to you. Is the floor “sprung” to prevent foot, leg and spine injuries? Is the dance area large enough to allow you to move freely?
Where will I be able to dance while I’m learning … once I’ve learned? Let’s face it, most of us won’t practice at home. Most nightclub and restaurant dance floors are small and crowded. So the best place to do ballroom dancing is – guess what – in a ballroom! Ask if the studio or teacher offers parties – evenings where their dance floor is open for dancing, usually with refreshments, mixers, and more. Ask if the teachers attend the parties. How do I get started? Most studios have some kind of special introductory offer that lets you try them out. Think of it as a test-drive. Well worth the time and money. While you are checking out the instruction, take note of the other students. Do they seem to be happy? If you can, attend a party and see if the students are having fun. Would you like to be able to dance like they do?

How to Stop Smoking You know smoking is bad for your health. It can cause cancer and other problems. Second-hand smoke is harmful to others. People addicted to tobacco products spend a small fortune each year to maintain their habit. Quitting isn’t easy, but it is possible. Thousands of smokers stop the habit each year. As a result, they gain health and confidence. Former smokers have a sense of accomplishment that comes from overcoming a serious problem. If you are thinking about quitting, that’s an excellent first step. Some people decide to quit and never look back. It’s rare but stopping “cold turkey” can work. But honestly, a tobacco addiction is difficult to conquer. Every smoker is different, so a single method doesn’t work for everyone. Different people respond in different ways to various treatments. Keep your options open until you find the right solution that works for you. Clinics A specialized clinic can help you become a former smoker. Clinics approach treatment using various methods. Some might specialize in using medical treatments, while others focus on emotional and mental aspects of addiction. You might need a support group or a holistic approach to kick the habit. When deciding on a clinic, ask about their services and prices. Inquire about the background of the staff, including medical licensing, counselor training or other credentials. Rates will vary depending on the clinic you choose and the services offered.
Check with your insurance provider to see if your policy covers clinics for people who want to quit smoking. Medical Help Ask your physician for resources and assistance. A family doctor should have information readily available. He or she also knows your medical history and personality. Your doctor may have a prescription treatment. Nicotine replacement options include lozenges, patches, gum and sinus sprays. They might also give you certain drugs, including Chantix or Zyban. Speak with your physician to find out which treatment would work best in your situation. Communities Sometimes, people get excellent results from support groups. Finding people who face similar problems can be a powerful tool for stopping undesirable behavior. Not everyone can quit on the first try. A community can help you understand danger signs of relapse and provide incentive for stopping. Choose a group that is convenient for you to attend. Find one near your home or office that meets at an opportune time. Hospitals, doctors, employers and even churches have information on various groups in your area. Some support groups focus on all types of addiction, but the best ones will focus on tobacco specifically. By looking at all of your options, you can find a method that will help you transform yourself into a non-smoker.

How to Choose a Computer Repair Specialist
How to Choose an IT Specialist
There is nothing worse than having a computer stop working. After all, modern society has become increasingly dependent on computers. It is vital that you can find a professional to fix your computer quickly and successfully. Whether you use your computer for work or entertainment, it's a good idea to find a qualified computer repair specialist you can trust. Here are some factors to consider before beginning your search.
At some point, your computer will need to be repaired. After all, it is almost impossible to do anything without computers. They are the mainstay of our businesses and a source of entertainment at home. When your computer or network needs repair work, hiring a qualified, experienced information technology (IT) professional is essential. Some professionals are more knowledgable and reliable than others. Consider these factors when you need help with computer repair and maintenance.
Type of Device Do you use a PC or a Mac? Most computer specialists will focus on only one system. If there's a picture of an apple on your computer, you have a Mac. If you are unsure, then chances are you have a PC. PCs and Macs are quite different from each other. Choose a technician who focuses on your type of computer. Is your computer a desktop or a laptop system? They often have unique issues, so find someone who can work on your type of computer. Desktop systems consist of a tower, monitor, keyboard and mouse. Laptops are self-contained in a package that travels easily. If your tablet or smart phone is giving you trouble, be sure to find someone who specializes in those devices. Someone in your social network has likely had computer issues. Ask them for recommendations. You might also consult with the IT department at your workplace. They will be able to point you in the right direction. Electronic vendors often have a help desk who can also suggest qualified technicians in your area. Or the store might have specialists on staff who can help you. Experience The ideal specialist is someone who has successfully fixed many computers. You don't want someone getting on-the-job training by fixing your machine. Ask how long they've worked on computers and how they keep up with new innovations. Experienced specialists attend seminars or
classes to learn about the latest operating systems and hardware. Training and Certification Microsoft and Apple give software certifications to technicians for completing a specialized training program. Anyone who has these certifications has demonstrated self-discipline; however, that is no guarantee of a technician's ability. In the world of computers, experience and skill carry more weight than a diploma. Price As with most essential services, don't automatically choose the person who offers you the lowest rate. If something goes wrong during a repair, you may have to pay additional fees to solve the problem. But that doesn't mean the highest priced vendor will offer you the best quality or service. Small shops and individuals typically have the best deals because they don't upsell you on services or software that you don't need. Make a Personal Visit Visit the computer repair shop where your potential specialist works. Be wary of sales representatives who might try to sell you a new product rather than fixing the problem. Ask to meet with the technician who will work on your computer. As you describe the problem, watch the technician's response carefully -- both words and body language. Do they speak knowledgeably and in a way that instills confidence? If not, take your business elsewhere. It is important that you feel comfortable and confident handing your computer to the specialist. When you find the right mix of experience, skill and price, you can rest easy that the problem will be solved.
EXPERIENCE IT specialists come with a variety of concentrations and experience. Find a specialist who matches your needs. Some people are networking experts; others may only work on Apple computers. When you speak with specialists, ask if they are certified in repairing, installing or troubleshooting the computers and peripheral device you are using. Inquire about how much experience they have with repair work and installation. COMMUNICATION SKILLS It is important to hire someone with excellent communication skills. Computer networking, setup and repair is flush with jargon and acronyms. You need to understand what is wrong with your computer system and how it needs to be fixed. Whether you are a business owner or home computer user, a good IT specialist will explain what decisions you need to make. You should be able to understand whether you need to upgrade your system or how you can improve the speed of your computer. Not only will an IT specialist fix the problem, he or she will

also inform and educate you. With this new information, you can prevent future problems. The best IT specialists will save you money and help you avoid common pitfalls.
LOCATION IT specialists can work at your location, or you can leave the equipment at their repair shop. IT specialists sometimes make house calls, especially if the issues involve a network. Interconnected equipment can be difficult to dismantle. A qualified professional can find the malfunctioning device quickly and solve the problem. House calls are usually more expensive. Several repairs may involve specialized tools that are only found in a computer repair shop. Laptops, desktop devices and other portable equipment can be easily transported to a repair shop. Your prospective IT specialist should tell you whether an inhome visit is required.
REPUTATION IT specialists develop reputations quickly. You can easily gauge the qualifications of a professional by his or her track record. Ask your friends and family for names of good IT specialists. Their recommendations may have a higher per-hour rate, but they are worth every penny. They will get your computers working again quickly and easily.
Always look for a professional who has the qualifications and experience to install and repair your system. This person should explain everything in plain English. With a little time and research, your computers will be running again in a short time.
