Love, family & friends! Prayer to the
BLESSED VIRGIN
(Never known to fail). O Most Beautiful Flower of Mt. Carmel, Fruitful Vine, Splendor of Heaven, Blessed Mother of the Son of God, Immaculate Virgin, assist me in my necessity. O Star of the sea, help me and show me here in, you are my mother. O Holy Mary, Mother of God, Queen of Heaven and Earth, I humbly beseech you from the bottom of my heart to succor me in my necessity (make request). There are none that can withstand your power. O Mary conceived without sin, pray for us who have recourse to thee (3 times.) Holy Mary, I place this cause in your hands (3 times). Say this prayer for three consecutive days. By Jennifer Coates It doesn’t take much to figure out what is important to Fred Phillips, the owner of Fred’s Auto Body, when you glance around his office: photographs of his family, pictures of all the soccer teams he has sponsored over the years, certificates of achievements he has received, and piles of papers that show what a busy man he is. It also doesn’t take long to figure out why Fred Phillips has run a successful business since 1983 when you see how he interacts with one of his customers. He is friendly, genuine, familiar ~ just an ordinary guy who still values hard work, integrity, honesty, and good old-fashioned customer service. After thirty-eight years in the auto body repair business, Fred’s character and ethics have come to define him almost more than the high quality of workmanship that he is also known for. In this competitive business, what has given him “staying power” is the commitment he has to excellence and to putting the goodwill of his customers over his own self-interests. In his words: “That’s the only way I know how to treat people. Right. That is just how I was brought up!” If there is one thing that keeps Fred going, it’s the knowledge he has of how important our vehicles are to our livelihoods and to the day-to-day operations of our homes. This is why he takes your

For Fred, it is ~ and always has been ~ about satisfying his customers. Working alongside Fred is his loyal employee and expert auto body technician, Jason Colomb, whose steadfastness and talent have been a mainstay of Fred’s Auto Body for over twenty-two years. As the shop’s owner, Fred oversees every detail of your vehicle repair. He manages all the paperwork and communication with the insurance companies. He will make sure you have the most honest and transparent assessment of the damage and what it will cost to repair it to 100% of its original condition. of the workmanship here stands as a testament to how the business has endured all these years. When Fred says your car will be restored to 100% of its original condition, he puts his word on it. If the repair goes beyond the exterior and more mechanical work is involved, Fred will bring that vehicle to a dealership to check on all its safety systems. They always doublecheck their work at Fred’s Auto Body. • To soften food that is stuck on a pan, try soaking it overnight with fabric softener. Just fill the pan with enough water to cover the burned-on food, then lay a dryer sheet of fabric softener in the pan (poke it down so it will stay under the water). The next morning, you should be able to wipe the food right off. You can even use the fabric softener sheet as a scrubber. — A.S. in Maryland • I installed rivet rings in the corner of my bathroom towels. It works very well, and the glue washes right out of the thread. hinking about using wallpaper to transform your walls from drab to fab? You’re in good company. Wallpaper’s popularity is on the rise in both residential and commercial spaces and gaining an edge over paint. Why? Experts believe this trend reflects a growing recognition of wallpaper’s unique benefits. It’s cost-effective, protects the wall surface from accidental marks and scratches, and offers personalized self-expression at a reasonable price. “We experienced consistent monthover-month wallpaper sales increases throughout 2021. We attribute this to consumers’ growing desire to customize their spaces with designs that reflect their personal style and aesthetic preferences, while retaining the option to change things up as frequently as desired with removable wallpaper,” says Michael Jones, general manager, Spoonflower, a leading custom, printon-demand wallpaper and home decor digital marketplace. According to Jones, there are a few things to keep in mind when choosing the right wallpaper for your space. Here, he offers a few insights to help you get started:

Type First, determine how long you’d like the wallpaper to remain on your walls. Some types of wallpaper are more suitable for long-term use and others are best for those who wish to change their designs with the seasons or on a whim. For this reason, Spoonflower offers

To take the guesswork out of wallpaper design selection, consider heading to a wallpaper digital marketplace. In the case of Spoonflower, which features over 1 million designs, the biggest challenge you’ll face is the enormity of selection. However, you can easily narrow down your choices by searching for designs based on category keywords, color or by styles, such as Mid-Century Modern, Cottagecore or Paisley. For those with a specific design already envisioned, the site even allows you to upload your own design and have it custom printed on wallpaper. Before committing, consider ordering two or three swatches so you can compare them in your own space and assess the best fit. This can help ensure your final design selection is completely tailored to your preferences. To learn more and to get the process started, visit spoonflower.com. Thanks to new wallpaper technology and an ever-growing library of designs available, making a customized impact on the look and feel of your spaces has never been easier.

ARIES (March 21 to April 19) You’re eager to take on that new opportunity opening up as January gives way to February. Now all you need to do is resist quitting too early. Do your best to stay with it. TAURUS (April 20 to May 20) Doff a bit of that careful, conservative outlook and let your brave Bovine self take a chance on meeting that new challenge. You could be surprised at how well you do. GEMINI (May 21 to June 20) You might not want to return to the more serious tasks facing you. But you know it’s what you must do. Cheer up. Something more pleasant will soon occupy your time. CANCER (June 21 to July 22) As you dutifully tidy your end-of-themonth tasks, your fun self emerges to urge you to do something special: A trip (or a cruise, maybe?) could be just what you need. LEO (July 23 to August 22) Your achievements are admirable as you close out the month with a roar. Now you can treat yourself to some wellearned time off for fun with family or friends. (Or both!) VIRGO (August 23 to September 22) Be sure you know the facts before you assume someone is holding back on your project. Try to open your mind before you give someone a piece of it.
LIBRA (September 23 to October 22) You might feel comfortable in your familiar surroundings, but it might be time to venture into something new. There’s a challenge out there that’s just right for you. SCORPIO (October 23 to November 21) Your love of things that are new gets a big boost as you encounter a situation that opens up new and exciting vistas. How far you go with it depends on you. SAGITTARIUS (November 22 to December 21) That recent workplace shift might not seem to be paying off as you expected. But be patient. There are changes coming that could make a big difference. CAPRICORN (December 22 to January 19) While few can match the Goat’s fiscal wizardry, you still need to be wary in your dealings. There might be a problem you should know about sooner rather than later. AQUARIUS (January 20 to February 18) Easy does it when it comes to love and all the other good things in life. Don’t try to force them to develop on your schedule. Best to let it happen naturally. PISCES (February 19 to March 20) A surprise decision by someone you trust causes some stormy moments. But a frank discussion explains everything, and helps save a cherished relationship. BORN THIS WEEK: Sometimes you forget to take care of yourself, because you’re so busy caring for others. The Miracle Prayer
Prepare for Power Outages & Save Money
Dear Heart of Jesus: In the past, I have asked many favors. This time, I ask you this very special one. Take it Dear Heart of Jesus and place it within your own broken heart, where your father sees it. Then, in your merciful eyes, it will become your favor, not mine. Say this prayer for 3 days, promise publication and your favor will be granted no matter how impossible. Thank you also to the Divine Mercy.

replaced the amphibian in 1905. It was used until 1974, dropped, then brought back in 1984. It is now sharing space with the company name in fancy letters. Online ads and new ways of selling have led to many vintage logos being updated or removed. Fakes often are made with the new logo, so collectors should check to see when the design was changed. *** My grandfather gave me a bowl he found at a rummage sale many years ago. It’s marked “Brentleigh Ware Made in England” on the bottom. It’s 11 1/2 inches long by 5 3/4 inches wide and 4 3/4 inches high. Can you tell me how old it is? Brentleigh Ware is a trade name used by Howard Pottery Co. Ltd. in Stoke-on-Trent, Staffordshire, England. The pottery was in business from 1925 to the mid-1970s. Your large bowl may have been made to hold fresh whole fruit. Brentleigh Ware in not well known, and a large bowl might sell for $20 to $40. *** CURRENT PRICES Silver bowl, flared shape, rolled rim, cylindrical foot, figural bird sits on rim, bird with mother-of-pearl inlaid trim, marked Mexico, 2 3/4 x 7 1/4 inches, $55. Jewelry, earrings, oval rutilated quartz drop, sterling silver stem and stud, Georg Jensen, 2 3/8 inches, $300. Toy, vehicle, Martian Flying Saucer, Red Man In Space, bubble top, rotating space man inside, tin lithograph, friction, marked TN Japan, 6 1/4 x 6 1/4 inches, $740. This wooden cabinet with decorations and the name Sherwin-Williams is easy to date. A salamander is carved on the door suggesting a date before 1905 when the logo was changed.
The clothing, hairdos and changes in the style of the letters have made the Morton’s Salt girl or the Quaker Oats man look like contemporary customers, not an old-fashioned product. The logo showing the Morton’s girl holding an umbrella has been used since 1914 with at least seven changes, so that by her 100th birthday, she had a knee-length yellow dress and short hair instead of braids. Look carefully at old advertising collectibles and examine the changes to help determine age. Recently a Sherwin-Williams cabinet used to store paintbrushes was sold at a Conestoga auction for $425. The salamander logo, first used in the 1870s, was carved on the door dating the cabinet as an antique. The famous world globe covered with dripping paint logo

A recreational vehicle, also known as an RV or a camper, can be a worthwhile investment for people who want to travel at their leisure. RVs offer the benefit of traversing the open road without having to sacrifice the comforts of home. The RV market has been hot over the last couple of years as people have looked to RVing as a safe way to travel. According to the RV Industry Association, shipments of travel trailers and motorhomes were expected to hit their highest level on record in 2021, with more than 533,000 units sold by year-end. Sizable purchases are seldom easy, and purchasing an RV is no exception. In addition to choosing the right vehicle, RV owners must learn maintenance, how to drive a large vehicle, towing, and campsite etiquette. Buying an RV is a long-term investment. These pointers can help the purchase go smoothly. New or used? Purchasing a used RV can help people save money. However, upgrades and repairs may be costly. New RVs have the latest technology and no risk of prior wear and

1. Name the first group that had a hit with “Dedicated to the One I Love.” 2. Who released “Crystal Blue Persuasion”? 3. Name the two hits by The Cyrkle. 4. Which Neil Sedaka song was released twice, once as a slow ballad (1976) and once as a faster pop song (1962)? 5. Name the song that contains this lyric: “My love must be a kind of blind love, I can’t see anyone but you.” Answers 1. The Shirelles in 1959. They were followed by the Mamas & the Papas who took the song to No. 2 in 1967. 2. Tommy James and the Shondells. The story was that the song was written as James was reading the Bible and a blue light was mentioned. However, many thought he was referring to the blue LSD tablets that were in vogue. 3. “Red Rubber Ball” and “TurnDown Day,” both in 1966. 4. “Breaking Up Is Hard to Do.” 5. “I Only Have Eyes For You,” by the Flamingos, in 1959. The song was written for a 1934 film (“Dames”), but it was the Flamingos’ doo-wop version that brought the song attention. Rolling Stone ranked it No. 158 on their list of “500 Greatest Songs of All Time.”
tear. Insurance premiums will be higher for a new vehicle, and a new purchase can be expensive depending on the features chosen.
Figure out features and size Take a hard look at what you are seeking in a camper. Do you want something that is just an alternative to tent camping? Are you interested in an RV that can sleep a crowd? Do you have a tow hitch and a vehicle capable of towing an RV? These questions and more will determine the style and size of the RV that’s right for you. Class A RVs are large, bus-shaped rigs between 20 and 45 feet in length. Class B are sleeper vans and are smaller than Class A. Class C rigs offer size but driveability and are built into a regular truck chassis. For trailer-style RVs, the options are foldable trailers, travel trailers, toy haulers, and fifth wheel trailers. They vary in size and features; but you’ll need a truck to tow them. Usage frequency When considering an RV, think about how often it will be used and where it will be stored when not in use. Garage storage may
be challenging on a larger rig, and some housing communities frown upon parking RVs in driveways. This may affect the size you choose as well as the features you need, according to KOA, the RV camp site leader. Secure financing As with other vehicles, shop around for the best rates on financing; you don’t necessarily need to go with the dealer. Also, when buying a trade-in or used rig, hire a third-party inspector to go over systems to ensure they’re in working order. These are just a few things to consider when looking to purchase an RV. Buyers should do their homework to get a vacation vehicle that fits their needs and budgets.

DEAR DR. ROACH: My neighbor is battling cancer for the third time. The medical personnel she sees when she goes for her chemotherapy treatments are urging her to get rid of her two cats. They claim the cats are a danger to her health. Wearing gloves and a mask while cleaning litter boxes will not help. Why? What do the cats have that can hurt someone going through chemotherapy? — S.C. ANSWER: Cancer chemotherapy frequently causes damage to the body’s immune system. Many types of chemotherapy work against fast-growing cells, and while cancer cells are fast-growing, your neighbor’s healthy immune system cells, especially white blood cells, are also fast-growing and can be damaged by the chemotherapy. Avoiding potentially infectious agents is therefore wise advice for people going through chemo. There are several potential infections that can be transmitted from cats to humans. The one we worry about most is probably toxoplasmosis, a protozoan infection. Toxoplasmosis is a big concern in people with HIV, but also can be an issue in people who have recurrent chemotherapy or have a more prolonged reduction in immune system function. However, toxoplasmosis can be effectively avoided by wearing gloves while changing the litter box, keeping the cats indoors and feeding them only high-quality cat food and never raw meat. Cat bites or scratches can be very serious, especially to someone with an immune system that is less than perfect. If her cats occasionally bite or scratch, that would be a problem. There are a few other uncommon zoonotic diseases (ones that can be

transmitted from animals to humans) that might be of concern. Her cats’ veterinarian would be a useful resource to find out more. The cats should, of course, be thoroughly evaluated. Allergies, not infection, might be the issue, but allergies are usually less of a problem during chemotherapy. The risks from a healthy indoor cat are very small. Risks must always be balanced against the very strong feelings people have for their pets, especially at a vulnerable time. I would not recommend separating a person from her cats without very good reason, and would want to know exactly why, since it’s not clear to me in this case. *** DEAR DR. ROACH: I am an 80-year-old man with Type 2 diabetes. I have been told that I have a heart “prebeat” but that I should not worry unless it becomes random and misses beats. I do not have atrial fibrillation and have passed several stress tests. I can feel a rapid heart rate, especially at night. I can usually stop it by heaving my chest. Am I at risk for a serious event? — R.G.B. ANSWER: Premature heart contractions can come from either the top chambers of the heart (premature atrial contractions) or the bottom (premature ventricular contractions). Both are common, but neither is usually the sign of serious heart disease. The fact that you have found a way to stop them suggests to me that you are more likely having premature atrial contractions, which can come in runs of multiple beats (runs of premature ventricular contractions is called ventricular tachycardia and is very serious). Evaluation of this common concern often includes a long-term electrical study of the heart, such as wearing a Holter monitor, a 24-hour recording of every heartbeat. If that has not been done, and you remain concerned, it might be reasonable to ask your doctor about obtaining one. 7 ways newspapers benefit students Classrooms have come a long way since the days when pioneering settlers would send their children to single-room schoolhouses. Modern classrooms might be technical marvels, but one less flashy learning tool remains as valuable as ever. Newspapers might not be as glamorous as tablets or other gadgets, but they are still an invaluable resource to educators and students. The following are seven ways in which newspapers in the classroom can benefit students. 1. Newspapers build vocabulary. Numerous studies have found that reading can improve youngsters’ vocabulary. Each day, newspapers are filled with fresh stories that can introduce kids to new words, helping them to strengthen their vocabularies and make them more effective communicators. 2. Newspapers improve reading skills. Like the old adage says, “Practice makes perfect.” Reading newspapers each day can help kids develop their reading and comprehension skills. 3. Newspapers promote critical thinking. Newspaper reporters are trained to objectively report the news, sharing facts without allowing their own opinions to influence their stories. Educators can choose stories from the newspaper to serve as catalysts for discussions that focus not just on the facts listed in the story, but what might be behind them. Such discussions can help youngsters develop their critical thinking skills. 4. Newspapers bring ideas and current events to life. Many children are aware of major world events, even if they don’t know or understand the details. Newspaper articles about world events can
be used as avenues to discussions about what’s going on in the world. 5. Newspapers build global awareness. Customized newsfeeds funneled through social media outlets can make it hard for young people to recognize and understand the world beyond their own communities and interests. Each days, newspapers include local, national and international stories that can illustrate to kids that there’s a world beyond their own. 6. Newspapers promote social consciousness. Without newspapers, young people may never be exposed to the social issues facing their own communities or those issues that are affecting people across the country and the world. Newspapers provide unbiased exposure to such issues, potentially leading youngsters to further explore topics that are shaping their world and even encouraging them to form their own opinions. 7. Newspapers make learning fun. According to a 2017 report from Common Sense Media, kids younger than eight spend an average of two hours and 19 minutes per day looking at screens. Newspapers provide a welcome break from tablets, smartphones and computers, and kids may have fun flipping pages and getting a little ink on their hands. Newspapers remain invaluable resources that can benefit students in myriad ways.

The different fields of engineering Warwick Area Career & Tech Center
Engineering is an exciting profession that encompasses many different subfields. Engineers are professionals who invent, analyze, design, test, and build anything from machines to structures to complex systems. They are often pushed to work within parameters of safety, cost, regulations, and even practicality. According to Southern New Hampshire University, engineering is divided into four main categories: chemical, civil, mechanical, and electrical. However, there are dozens of subtypes of engineering. As problems are encountered, engineering disciplines are developed to train highly specialized individuals to solve issues. As the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics points to strong job growth outlooks, and salaries starting in the high five-figures to low six-figures, engineering is a fine career to pursue. The following is a breakdown of the various fields of engineering, courtesy of the National Action Council for Minorities in Engineering, TypesOfEngineeringDegrees. org, and SNHU. • Aerospace: These engineers design, analyze, model, simulate, and test various aircraft, rockets, satellites, and other craft. Aerospace engineers may help develop space mission protocol or design aircraft for the military. • Agricultural: These engineers study science and biology to develop efficient measures to grow and maintain plant life. Many agricultural engineers now focus on protecting resources and the environment. • Biomedical: These engineers combine knowledge of biology
and medicine to develop technologies related to healthcare. Diagnostic machines, artifical organs, joint replacement components, and medical instruments are just the tip of the iceberg. • Chemical: Chemical engineers discover and manufacture medicines, fertilizers, plastics, paints, and the various chemicals used at home and for commercial purposes. • Civil: Civil engineers study and design infrastructure. Projects span the design of bridges, roads, dams, water systems, earthquake-proof buildings, and much more. • Computer hardware: Thanks to the digital age, computer hardware engineers are in high demand. These professionals research and develop components like memory devices, networks, routers, circuit boards, and other device-related hardware. • Electrical: The design, testing and manufacturing of electrical components is key to this field. Electrical engineers work on motors, navigation systems, communication technology, and much more. • Mechanical: This field involves the design of mechanical systems in industries like manufacturing, nuclear power production, HVAC, and nanotechnology. There are many other applications as well, making mechanical engineering one of the broadest fields in engineering. Engineering can be a rewarding and fulfilling career choice. With so many disciplines, there’s likely something for everyone with an interest in and aptitude for engineering.
