Double Tomato and Brie Sandwiches Great for any large picnic — plain or fancy. For easier serving, cut sandwiches into portions before wrapping and packing.

1 jar (6.5-ounces, about 3/4 cup) oil-packed sun-dried tomatoes, drained and finely chopped 2 tablespoons extra-virgin olive oil 2 tablespoons white wine vinegar 2 loaves (about 8 ounces each) long Italian bread 1 pound Brie cheese, sliced, with rind left on 2 medium tomatoes, sliced 1 cup packed fresh basil leaves 1. In small bowl, combine dried tomatoes, olive oil and vinegar.

2. Cut each loaf of Italian bread horizontally in half. Evenly spread dried-tomato mixture on cut sides of bread. Arrange Brie on bottom halves of both loaves; top with tomato slices and basil leaves. Replace tops of loaves.

3. If not serving right away, wrap each sandwich in plastic wrap and refrigerate. Serves 16.

TIP: For this recipe, we used dried tomatoes marinated in lightly salted olive oil with herbs. If you use the unseasoned variety, you may want to sprinkle them with some salt.

For Heather Luchka and her husband Del Andrews, these decorated insulated cups are more than an artistic expression, they changed their whole outlook on life.

While recovering from a third kidney transplant in 2019, Heather happened to catch a show, hosted by

Lisa (a tumbler designer in Fall River) on this emerging art form. She and her husband were weathering out the Covid storm when this show captivated and inspired them. Many of these items contain metals and materials that need to be recycled and not tossed in the landfill. Eco-Call, a Louisville based company, will break down and recycle the items and has a no landfill policy. In the early 1900s, housewives began painting ceramics. Amateurs and artists bought marked plain white porcelain from Germany, Japan, England and other countries, and then decorated them in American styles. Magazines featured instructions and designs for this hobby. Special paints could remain permanently on a glazed vase or dinner plate even when washed.

Unfortunately, the paint will not always survive the heat of a modern dishwasher, and the art can disappear.

One of the most famous professional decorators, John Bennett, was born in Staffordshire, England, in 1840 and worked at Doulton & Co. in the 1870s.

He moved to New York about 1876 and started his own ceramic business.

In 1882, he retired, moved to New Jersey and decorated pottery that he stamped “W. Orange-N. J.” Bennett died in 1907.

His ceramic paintings were asym-

metrical designs of colorful flowers and nature. He was influenced by the aesthetic, and arts and crafts movements. His work is expensive today.

This very large covered urn, 16 1/2 inches high, is signed “Bennett.” It pictures clusters of pink and white hydrangea blossoms and green leaves on a black background. Rago Arts and Auction Center sold it for $5,000 plus buyer’s premium. *** I have a boxed Little Hostess Party set that belonged to a distant relative. It is a set of glass children’s cups, saucers and plates in pastel colors. What should I price it at my house sale? How old is it?

The sets were made in the 1940s and ‘50s by Atlas Glass Company. The heat resistant glass is called Platonite. There were many different sets and colors. The 16-piece set, mint in the box sold 10 years ago for as much as $200, but at a house sale today it might sell at $100.
