Local Blogger Files Suit Over City of Sierra Madre Water Rate Increase Sierra Madre City Manager Elaine Aguilar confirmed Wednesday that the City of Sierra Madre has been served with a lengthy 359 page lawsuit filed by attorney and former councilman Kurt Zimmerman on behalf of John Crawford. Crawford a former council candidate and local blogger has been an insatiable critic of the city. In February, Crawford served the city with a written demand to repeal the ordinance implementing the city’s water rate increase. We and other publications printed that letter in its entirety. The suit, which was filed with the court on Friday, May 6, 2011, was received by Elaine Aguilar and staff Tuesday afternoon. May 10, 2011. Beacon Media has attempted to get comment from Crawford without success. However, when John Stephens former editor at this publication and now editor at AOL’s sierrama-

BY TERRY MILLER Former Mayor Cathé Wilson was convicted by a jury of six felony counts of bribery and perjury last week. Wilson, 78, faces nine years in state prison. Judge Alex Ricciardulli is expected to pass sentence on June 2, according to Deputy District Attorney Sean Hassett. Wilson told Beacon Media that she feels like she’s “living in another world – it’s scary, very scary.” Maintaining her innocence throughout the ordeal, Wilson said she was not the ‘ringleader’ as a recent scathing editorial in the Pasadena Star News said. The Superior Court jury deliberated for about half an hour and found Wilson guilty of three felony counts receiving a bribe and three counts of perjury under oath two weeks ago. Developer Randy Wang’s $75 million Piazza mall project on Las Tunas Drive was the driving force behind the largest corruption cases in Temple City’s history. During our interview Wilson once again reiterated her shock and disbelief as she “listened to all the lies during the proceedings.” “The DA even made fun of fact that I “adopt” kids,” she said. In addition to having five children, one of who was murdered, Wilson has 8 grandkids, 12 great grand children and one great-great grand child. Wilson has a reputation in town for being motherly to eveyone she meets (hence the DA’s comments). In discussing the guilty on 6 felony counts Wilson said “I couldn’t believe what the jury said”. “I’m in shock” As she tried to hide the tears watering up in her eyes
