El Monte Police Search for Animal Torturer -Mutilated Corpses Found at Rio Vista Park The corpses of three cats and one dog that were found bound and tortured at Rio Vista Park have become the focus of a police investigation in El Monte. All four of the animals had their front and hind legs duct-taped together and duct tape stuck across their faces. The discoveries were made during the past two weeks, indicating the crimes were committed in a series. All of the corpses were found in the same area of the park - a walking trail that parallels a wash and

is shielded from view by shrubs according to Detective Ralph Batres. Police said they do not have any suspects, but a community meeting was held last week in an effort to get the word out and ask for the public’s help. Similar cases of animal torture, animal cruelty experts say, have been a precursor to other crimes including serial murders, rapes and killing sprees. El Monte police are asking anyone with information to call them at 626580-2109.
