Will Migrants Take Senior Benefits?

It’s hard to ignore the clamor over the southern U.S. border. This migration has now come to Colorado’s doorstep. Denver has been flooded with 40,000+ migrants. Their mayor has cut $5 million from their Parks & Recs budget. Our governor will surely support this financially.

Will this negatively affect seniors and investors? My short answer is “yes” but not a lot, though. Money must come from somewhere and this will probably affect seniors and all Coloradans somewhat through lowered services. At least in the short term. Folks on Medicaid could be severely hit.

For the record, I love immigrants. As we’ve all heard before, practically everyone here now is an immigrant or is descended from them. We also all know the Ellis Island stories about opportunity and “huddled masses”. Yet we can’t ignore that this current influx is inarguably different and bigger and faster. So the shocks are real.

on national debt. I feel we can absorb this. Do we need to improve how it’s handled? Absolutely.

Here are a few headlines from Daily Mail within the last couple of months:

* “Denver's mayor now predicts the city will have to use 10 percent of its yearly budget on migrants”

* “Denver's hospitals are at risk of COLLAPSE because of migrant crisis, with one health system providing $17M of unpaid care in just three months”

* “Denver slashes $5M from its parks and rec budget as it prepares to spend $180 MILLION to shelter migrants in 2024”

DON’T BE TOO CONCERNED LONG-TERM

A recent report estimates the “migrant crisis” will cost taxpayers around $451 billion nationwide. That’s not chump change but the U.S. is resilient. Heck, that’s not even half of our yearly interest

What do we do as citizens and investors? For now, it looks like it’s a good idea to avoid hospital stocks and funds. If you buy tax-exempt municipals please make sure they have insurance on them. This will guarantee payment of interest and principal in times of trouble. Remember, many hospitals have sold municipal bonds.

Do we avoid the healthcare sector? I don’t think so. Not completely. Pharmaceutical stocks and the like will largely bypass this controversy. But also other sectors may be better positioned to grow. Technology is still rolling strong. And remember to consider (and research) longer-term CDs and Treasury bonds while interest rates are still high. Someone ought to get those high interest payments.

OBSERVATIONS FROM THE CAVE

Democrats Not What They Once Were, And America is Much Worse Off for It

If you are reading this, you likely remember the Democrat party when it was an honorable institution rather than, arguably, the most corrupt institution in America. If you are reading this and still believe it is honorable, you have not been paying attention and need to turn off CNN, MSNBC and the other major news media. I grew up as a Democrat because, well, in our family we were Democrats. Period. It wasn’t

until Ronald Reagan that I threw off the last tentacles of liberalism that had coiled themselves around me. I had voted for Jimmy Carter because I thought he would bring honesty and integrity and governing intelligence to the White House. How wrong I was.

Reagan showed that with common sense laws, a loosening of government regulations strangling businesses, a strong military and reduced taxes America could prosper and keep its proper place of prominence among the world’s nations. Was he perfect? Of course not, because he was human and thus flawed. The only Perfect Man to have lived wasn’t running for President.

But the Democrats of my youth were much different from those of today. Consider President John F. Kennedy’s views on taxation. JFK proposed "an across-the-board, top-to-bottom cut in personal and corporate income taxes." He maintained that the tax system of the time "exerts too heavy a drag on growth in peace time...siphons out of the private economy too large a share of personal and business purchasing power [and]...reduces the financial incentives for personal effort, investment, and risk-taking." Democrats would have a fit if one of their candidates said that today.

Kennedy got his tax cuts, and they worked marvelously well. Writes Time magazine: “As Kennedy’s tax-rate-cut, strong dollar economic policy was being articulated and then implemented in the latter half of the presidency, the nation embarked upon an eight-and-a-half year, uninterrupted run of growth at just over 5% per year.”

One might think that Democrats would learn from that, but one would be wrong. Their ideology will not permit it, results

and reality be damned. And abortion, the chief sacrament of the Left? Kennedy was a practicing Catholic, and abortion then was unthinkable. Just the abortion and tax issues would be enough to get him booed off the stage today.

So, what happened? It is said that when Richard Nixon was elected president, conservatives won the White House, and liberals won the English department. The Left successfully infiltrated our education system at every level, and today’s students, if they are not home-schooled or enrolled in private schools, are not educated so much as they are indoctrinated into leftist ideology. They learn virtually nothing of substance but are well-versed in critical race theory and other aberrant and destructive ideologies. And they vote for Democrats, with predictable results.

The effect of Leftist governance is evident in every big city run by Democrats: Riots, rampant homeless and drug abuse, blatant shoplifting and looting, and non-stop violence. To say the Democrats lost their way would be inaccurate. They simply were hijacked by radical Leftists, and rely on a dumbed-down electorate and misguided folks who still believe, as does my sisterin-law, that “we’re the good guys.” There once were honorable, ethical, God-fearing Democrats who could be reasoned with in civil debate. Trying to find one today is like trying to find a skinny person at a fat camp. If they exist, they are as rare as a seven-foot-tall Japanese basketball player. They may be there, but good luck in finding one.

This party simply opposes all that is good and supports a plethora of depraved and destructive ideologies, from homosexuali-

ty to transgenderism, physically mutilating children and flooding their bodies with hormones. All done, of course, without the knowledge of parents, who are considered, apparently, unfit to make decisions about their children. They would do well to heed the biblical prophet Isaiah’s warning about those who call good evil, and evil good. The fact is that the Left hates what God loves, and loves what God hates. They seem to hate anything that is good for America, since the first thing President Joe Biden did was to reverse everything former President Donald Trump did that benefited America and Americans.

Unfortunately, Democrats are solidly in control of the country that used to be America, but today is something far different, and far worse. And with their ability and willingness to do whatever is necessary to maintain power, like rigging elections, this is not likely to change. Ever.

What a sad story, indeed.

‘LIGHT FOR THE JOURNEY’

“IN THE WAKE OF THE WOKE!”

Idon’t know about you, but I am sick to death of the mainstream media (MSM) lies and leftist woke agenda. Therefore, most of my news comes from independent reporters who are not obliged to big pharma, big media, big tech, and giant corporations. They are not involved in the politics of stifling or spinning the truth to sway voters, appease politicians or prostitute themselves to big corporations like the MSM outlets do. These brave patriots do their own research, run their own channels, and report the truth as it should be reported to the American public that can find them if they pry themselves away from the putrid garbage on MSM and seek the truth. Yesterday I heard someone say, “Everything you hear on mainstream media is a lie.”

How true! Where do you get your news? I have stated many times that the reason I don’t watch mainstream media is the same reason I don’t drink from the toilet.

Anyone can find truther channels and subscribe to real news. Most are not on YouTube, Google, Facebook, Instagram, and other social media because they have been kicked off or were brutally censored.

Some of my favorites are AndWeKnow.com, The Western Journal, Joe Rogan and there are many on the Brighteon channel. Truth is for those who seek it. Truth sets people free. So many are in bondage today. Bondage to lies, indoctrination, propaganda and satan’s evil minions seeking to destroy our country and every freedom provided by our constitution; freedoms thousands upon thousands have died to preserve; freedoms most Americans take for granted.

Stories of broken, destroyed people who are left in the wake of these woke media outlets, businesses, socalled physicians, educational institutions, and corporations are heart breaking. Those entities strive to keep up with the devil’s Equity-Diversity-Inclusion trap, leaving emotionally, physically wounded, and terrified people in their wake. Multiple tragic stories of children and young adults mutilating their bodies are often followed by suicides. The problem has become a social epidemic. Who is profiting from this madness? At the top of the list is Big Pharma, mainstream media, big corporations, and hundreds of wicked and corrupt politicians.

“If you believe human beings are ‘essentially good’ and you can ‘essentially trust people to rule over you, you’re a fool and you do not know your history.

I believe my grandchildren and great grandchildren will curse mine and my

wife’s names if we do nothing and remain silent during the insanity we’ve seen over the last few years. Someone’s ideology will reign in the public square. That’s why we do what we do. So, for the sake of future generations, for the sake of freedom and liberty and for the sake of giving God a reason to show America mercy, we contend for righteousness. We speak truth with grace. We let the chips fall where they may, and we leave the results to God. (Seth Gruber – White Rose Resistance).”

Do the research!

Home-schooling has exploded. No wonder. Parents who truly care for their children want to protect them from what most public schools are offering such as drag-queen events and porn books for children in school libraries. At school board meetings, sitting board members refuse to allow parents to read from 6th grade library books because they are so graphically filthy and offensive. However, they are ok with them being offered to children in the school libraries. “Radical activism is being prioritized over the fundamentals—reading, writing, and math. Unsurprisingly, test scores and academic standards are declining as a result” (Prager U.) Those woke school board members better take note. Jesus said, “It would be better to be thrown into the sea with a millstone hung around your neck than to cause one of these little ones to fall into sin” (Luke 17:2 NLT).

Since the 1970’s, Planned Parenthood has been the largest, best funded, and most funded 501-c3 in history. It is the largest abortion provider in the world and the largest provider of pornographic comprehensive sexuality

education that infuriates parents who are awake and love their children. And get this! Planned Parenthood is the largest provider of cross-sex hormones and puberty blockers in the United States.

Have you researched Margaret Sanger’s agenda for starting Planned Parenthood? If not, you would be shocked by many of her blatant comments. For instance, in her first magazine, Vol 1-edition 1, published in 1914, Titled Woman Rebel (with the tag line) No Gods and Masters, Volume 1, Edition 1, Sanger said, “Our ultimate objective is unlimited sexual gratification without the burden of unwanted children.” Seth Gruber commented that her quote, 110 years ago, represents the entire dark cultural agenda and the entire abortion industrial complex of today.

Sanger, a feminist and reproductive rights activist, opened the first birth control clinic in Brownsville, Brooklyn, in 1916, giving access to low-income and minority women. She started “The Negro Project” in 1939, with the aim of expanding birth control services for Black communities in the south, according to the New York University’s project documenting Sanger’s writings. Sanger said, “We do not want word to go out that we want to exterminate the Negro population.” The quote is real and appears in a Dec. 10, 1939, letter to a program director advocating employing Black physicians and ministers to gain trust of the Black communities the program was meant to serve. She felt if young black women came into the clinic, they would be made to feel

STALLONE TELLS ALL

BACK

IN 1977 MY HUSBAND AND I USUALLY WENT TO THE MOVIES during weekends. It was routine, so we were not exactly excited about it. But one of those nights we watched Rocky, starring a newcomer named Sylvester Stallone. We had no particular expectations. The only thing we knew was it would be a boxing movie. Boxing, yes. But what a sensitive performance by the leading man! From that day forward we tried to see his films.

And now SLY, an entertaining documentary about Stallone’s life and career is available from Netflix. Stallone does most of the talking although some other people like Quentin Tarantino, Henry Winkler, Talia Shire, Arnold Schwarzenegger, John Herzfeld and family members pop up with their opinions of Stallone and his work.

It’s no wonder Stallone takes over. After all, his movie career lasted almost fifty year and is still going with eight upcoming new projects. According to IMDb, his credits include: 103 actor, 12 director, 34 producer and 46 writer It’s interesting how many sequels from both Rocky Balboa and Rambo films pleased his fans. But Sly also mentions several important regrets as well as triumphs. .

“Adrian!” he yelled on the screen and won movie fans with that scene. His Rocky was a big surprise. It earned him more than just a prize.

Many successes came his way. His writing skill helped save the day.

But ups and downs of course he had. Family life sometimes way sad. SLY documentary pleased me for openness and honesty. Sylvester Stallone, what a guy! I’m happy he’s not a bit shy.

Even though Stallone talks most of the time during SLY, I wish this documentary was longer. There are probably many more inspirational stories he could tell us. Heck, I would even watch a sequel to SLY!

Directed by Thom Zimny

(The Gift: The Journey of

Johnny Cash) and written by Aidin Sayar Sarie, this SLY treat ends up being one of the year’s best documentaries.

"I believe any success in life is made by going into an area with a blind, furious optimism." --- Sylvester Stallone

"I am not the most richest, talented, smartest person in the world but I succeed by going and going and going."

---Sylvester Stallone

(Released by Netflix and rated “R” by MPAA. I think that rating is because of the violence in clips from movies included.)

and reinforcing the Center’s role as an educational and networking hub.

The Slovenian Union of America Conference - united 200+ members from across the country, celebrating heritage and community, and underscoring the Center’s appeal to diverse cultural groups.

The USA Boxing Olympic Qualifier – For a second year in a row USA Boxing has utilized the Pueblo Convention Center and is scheduled for a third event in 2024. Thus proving a strong and growing relationship with the international organization The Convention Center's ability to attract out-of-town guests also significantly boosted the local lodging sector, with 5,200 hotel room nights reported in 2023, an approximate 1,000-room increase from the prior year. This figure, reported by only one major hotel, suggests a greater unreported contribution to the local economy, with an estimated 20 to 25% of room stays not captured in these statistics. Yearly capital improvements have been integral to this success, with substantial investments made by Pueblo Urban Renewal for capital improvement projects, including new outdoor digital signage, internal wayfinding signage, updated audio-visual equipment, and refreshed venue furniture enhancing the guest experience. The impact created in the year 2023 is a testament to PURA and OVG360’s team dedication to cultivating economic impact through quality events and creates a bright outlook for the future of the year ahead.

PUEBLO MEMORIAL HALL: A CULTURAL AND ENTERTAINMENT POWERHOUSE In parallel, Pueblo Memorial Hall proudly reported its own recordbreaking year. The Hall generated $1.3 million in gross revenue, a remarkable $675,000 increase from 2022. This impressive fiscal performance represents the best financial year since its 2014 remodel. The venue's attraction was evident with over 32,000 paid tickets and more than 44,000 total attendees.

The Hall's calendar was packed with 65 events, the most since its remodel, featuring sold-out performances by renowned artists such as Theo Von, Rob Schneider, and Travis Tritt. The diversity of attractions included:

• 14 Concerts, spanning genres and appealing to a wide audience.

• 5 Family Shows, providing quality entertainment for all ages.

• 5 Community/Charity Events, supporting local causes and fostering community spirit.

• 3 Broadway Shows, bringing the magic of the stage to Pueblo.

• 5 Comedy Shows, featuring top comedic talent.

• 11 Graduations, celebrating academic milestones.

• 4 Private Rentals, offering bespoke events.

• 9 Dance Recitals, showcasing local talent.

• 9 Special Events, each creating unique memories.

The City of Pueblo upgraded Pueblo Memorial Hall’s theatre with a new sound system, supporting

commitment to providing top-notch experiences for performers and attendees alike, solidifying the hall's commitment to being a prime location, and enabling the historic theatre to continue to be booked for new highcaliber events.

General Manager of the Pueblo Convention Center and Memorial Hall Kevin Ortiz, mentions his feelings on this successful year and forward optimism looking into 2024 by stating: “Nothing I love seeing more than my hometown community grow through events and entertainment.

Our results from 2023 show that Pueblo is really starting to take off as a fun and trendy community and is becoming a prime destination for the region. We are extremely proud of our achievements this year and are excited to continue this momentum into 2024, promoting our great city of Pueblo.”

Looking ahead to 2024, theteam at the Pueblo Convention Center and Pueblo Memorial Hall is poised for another great year. Already falling in line with an early success this January with the returning State of Colorado Dart Tournament, marking a vibrant start at the Pueblo Convention Center. OVG360 plans to continue its focus on further enriching Pueblo’s reputation as a key destination for conventions and entertainment. The team's dedication to broadening its event portfolio is expected to continue driving economic growth and cultural enrichment in Southern Colorado.

About OVG360 Pueblo: OVG360 Pueblo, responsible for the stewardship of the Pueblo Convention Center and Pueblo Memorial Hall, is an organization dedicated to the economic development and cultural enrichment of Pueblo, Colorado. HOW TO SPOT A SCAM

(Social Security Admin.) Now is the perfect time to protect yourself from scams that can damage your finances and reputation. We can work together to keep your personal information safe!

STAY INFORMED OF THE LATEST SCAM TRENDS

Fraudsters continue to change their tactics. Make sure you understand the latest scam trends at www.ssa.gov/scam. Stay informed by:

• Following reliable news sources.

• Subscribing to scam alert newsletters.

• Staying connected with your local law enforcement agencies.

The more you know, the better prepared you’ll be to identify and avoid scams.

THINK CAREFULLY BEFORE SHARING PERSONAL INFORMATION

Phishing is one of the main ways that scammers attempt to trick people into providing personal information. Pay close attention to emails or messages ask ing for your username, password, or other personal information.

Scammers pretend to be from familiar organizations to gain your trust. Stay alert when receiving calls that you did not request claiming to be from banks, gov ernment agencies, or other well-known companies.

When in doubt, contact the organiza tion directly through official channels to verify that the request is real before shar ing any personal information or making payment.

USE STRONG PASSWORDS

Create strong, unique passwords like a

phrase with upper and lowercase letters, numbers, and special characters. Don’t use passwords that are easy to guess like birthdays or names.

Consider using a password manager to generate unique passwords and securely store them for each of your online accounts.

BE SAVVY WITH QR CODES

QR codes are increasing in popularity. They’re in restaurants, on parking meters, in emails, and on social media.

Scammers have noticed! They are physically placing fake QR codes on top of official ones or creating fake QR codes on social media advertisements to get access to your personal information.

Never scan random QR codes. If the QR code looks odd or altered, do not scan

• Voters volunteer to be Delegates or Alternates to the County Assembly, Congressional District and the State Convention. Each volunteer is voted on by the Precinct Caucus voters in attendance. That information is passed on to the County Chair.

• Precinct Caucus members can introduce resolutions they would like to see the party adopt in its platform. Each resolution is dis-

cussed and then voted on. Each approved resolution is passed on to the County Resolution Committee to be voted on at the County Assembly. The resolutions that pass are sent to the State Convention.

gGhostly encounters. Imagine. Ethereal happenstances remain varied and are considered eccentric thus preventing amiable debates. Many have said “if I verbalize my ‘visitations’ from the other side, they’ll think I’m mad!” Therefore, they remain a distinct unanswered enquiry in one’s mind…did it really happen? Although transitory encounters remain ‘taboo’ to some, others are appreciative of these supernatural experiences, albeit short lived. Recognized paranormal

activity occurs at least once during a life time. Occasionally, it’s a reminder of those loved and lost never to forget. My personal experiences were frequently images of loved one’s past, yet even beloved animals can appear, ostensibly so relevant and vividly clear.

Christina Rossoti’s poem ‘Remember’ may give some solace from beyond.

Remember me when I am gone away, Gone far away into a silent land.

When you can no more hold me by the hand,

Nor I half turn to go yet turning to stay,

For if the darkness and corruption leave A vestige of the thoughts I once had, Better you should forget and smile than

Once purchasing Skibo in 1887 Andrew Carnegie, the American millionaire lavishly began rebuilding Skibo. His grandson Roswell Miller the third actually met the phantom as she drifted between rooms, silently he followed this attractive apparition...

Remember me no more day by day. You tell me of our future that you planned:

Only remember me; you understand. It will be late to counsel then or pray.

Yet if you should forget me for awhile And afterwards remember; do not grieve;

you should remember and be sad. Vicious fighting involved innumerable conflicts, in the day. Therefore, it’s unsurprising that past entities continue to reside within ancient castle walls, even currently. Within the Scottish borders, are the lowlanders, and the highlanders, their only mutual enemy despite warring with each other was England’s royalty. Invasions and subsequent conquering were their main objective. These bloodlands retain vestiges of early conflicts. Ruined forts, castles and naturally many ghostly reminders of those spirited entities who still refuse to abandon the sites of their bloody conquests.

fortifications, but soon received a formal burial. Hauntings soon ceases but not for long. Legend is rampant that the castle keeper for whatever reason hid this young and decaying body in Skibo himself.

Once purchasing Skibo in 1887 Andrew Carnegie, the American millionaire lavishly began rebuilding Skibo. His grandson Roswell Miller the third actually met the phantom as she drifted between rooms, silently he followed this attractive apparition, but soon she disappeared from sight. As always, his adamant elucidations fell on deaf ears! Another feeble instance of not being heard related to

Despite my stories of haunted and majestic ancient castles, one can tap into our own clairvoyance, or ability to see beyond the curtain. SKIBO castle in Dornock Sutherland U.K. sits on 7,500 acres of lush green landscape, stunning scenery. Originally the home to bishops of Caithness, in 1565 the church ultimately relinquished proprietorship. Years later the disappearance of a local girl fueled consistent gossip among residents. Years later a female skeleton’s grisly remains were discovered behind castle walls. Supposably the missing girl was dramatically interred within Skibo

experiences of the supernatural. Anyone you speak to has involvements of ghostly phenomena, just ask and they’ll happily explain.

December 20th. 2000, Skibo castle was universally renowned for its historic legends of the far, yet more recent past. Guests’ privacy was paramount to investors of this notable structure. The infamous ‘White ‘Lady’ continues to haunt this magnificent construction. Therefore, no surprise that pop star Madonna, and Guy Richie opted to host their opulent wedding at Skibo, although presently guests are limited to short and only pre-approved stays. Obviously, the Edwardian ambience contributed to guests’ delight and flamboyance, but their wedding party didn’t actually see the ‘White Lady’ a veritable resident in Skibo. Her transparent yet obvious appearances cannot be denied. The Carnegie club now offers bygone days of the past. Guests may stay once in their lifetime, but afterwards must be accepted as a member of the rich and elite.

Thought for the day:

Happiness is fleeting, so don’t threaten it by remembering distant memories, of sadness and desolation, which may not happen at all. Clinging to the past only prevents availability in the present.

The reader will find author Jan McLaughlin’s book an inspirational and thoroughly delightful reading experience. Her wit and love of life permeates the entire 400-plus pages. Reading will not be tedious in the least. I think what I most enjoyed was the author’s ability to take ordinary, and sometimes harrowing, experiences and draw a spiritual lesson that the reader can apply in his or her own life.

The chapters are short and keep the reader’s interest The author is humble and not adverse to admitting her own foibles. As a result, this reviewer can relate as one lessthan-perfect reader to a less-than-perfect author. A 4-word recommendation: It’s a happy read! ARE AMERICANS FINANCIALLY EDUCATED ON RETIREMENT SAVINGS?

FINANCIAL education helps people learn about savings, credit, and loans. It also helps them prepare for life changes and the unexpected. When planning for retirement financial knowledge is essential.

So, how prepared are adults in the United States for their retirement? The National Endowment for Financial Education (NEFE) conducts polls on how retirement savings affect people’s financial well-being.

Here’s what we have learned:

• In a financial well-being poll conducted during the COVID-19 pandemic, 85% of respondents confirmed that some aspect of their personal finances was causing them stress. For 31% of respondents, that concern was “having enough saved for retirement.”

• In that same poll, 70% said they made financial adjustments due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Of that group, 27% increased contributions to their emergency savings, retirement savings, or other savings or investments. In comparison, 21% tapped into emergency savings—or borrowed against retirement savings.

• In a poll about financial education mandates, 80% of adults said they wish they were required to complete a semester- or year-long course focused on personal finance education during high school. Also, 88% think their state should require a semester- or year-long course for high school graduation.

• In that same poll, 84% of those

approaching retirement age said “spending and budgeting” should be taught in schools.

Lifetime financial education is helpful when it comes to retirement preparation. This includes understanding Social Security retirement benefits and making the most of retirement income. You can learn more on our Retirement webpage at www.ssa.gov/retirement

LOCAL REPRESENTATIVE

ENSURING COLORADO STATE GOVERNMENT INCLUDES ALL OF COLORADO

I am humbled and proud to share the news of my recent appointment as the Assistant Minority Leader by my colleagues in the House Republican Caucus. As the Representative for House District 47, my connection to the rich tapestry of ranching and farming communities runs deep, encapsulating the very essence of rural Colorado.

When Southeastern Colorado faced relentless challenges posed by severe snowfall and freezing temperatures, it became clear we needed a local advocate to stand up for our community. Local officials and concerned citizens turned to me, seeking insights into the state's efforts to mitigate the challenges. The urgency heightened as Governor Polis’ emergency plan favored the major population centers, overlooking rural areas. While the metroplex had access to warming centers, our rural areas were left without adequate support.

My overarching mission is to amplify the voice of rural Colorado at

more at ease about killing their babies if they were met with Black receptionists and physicians and, yes, Black ministers.

Today, the cloud over our world is wokeness. And in its wake, governments are crumbling, families are destroyed, suicides rise, and children are used as pawns. Don’t be deceived. They are after your children. You have probably heard the chants.

“WE ARE COMING FOR YOUR KIDS.” They aren’t even trying to hide it.

There is a dark agenda bent on destroying this country, indoctri-

the State Capitol. As the Assistant Minority Leader, my dedication is centered on bridging the divide between the needs of our rural communities and the nuanced policy-making decisions at the state level. It is crucial to address the specific challenges faced by Southeastern Colorado and ensure that our citizens receive the requisite attention and resources.

Let me draw your attention to some noteworthy legislative initiatives, such as HB24-1027, a transformative measure for rural Colorado. This bill focuses on tax relief, particularly for families with children. Starting January 1, 2025, essential baby and toddler products, including cribs, strollers, and baby wipes, will be exempt from state sales and use tax, easing financial burdens on parents.

Additionally, I will introduce another pivotal piece of legislation directly benefiting our farmers and ranchers. This bill introduces a state income tax credit for implementing qualified stewardship practices on farms or ranches, effective January 1, 2026. These practices aim to enhance soil health, improve water efficiency, and cultivate diverse and beneficial ecosystems while maintaining productivity.

The bill will offer three tiers of tax credits for eligible taxpayers, with a maximum credit of $150,000 per income tax year for implementing one qualified stewardship practice. This refundable credit requires qualified taxpayers to apply to the Department of Agriculture for a tax credit certificate.

Supporting bills of this nature is a significant stride forward for our agricultural community, and I take pride in advocating for legislation that prioritizes the needs of HD 47. By endorsing such bills, we are not only addressing current challenges but also laying the foundation for a more promising future in all of Colorado.

My dedication to Southeastern Colorado is unwavering. I am committed to championing the interests of House District 47 and tirelessly working to ensure our communities receive the

nating children, putting the citizens in bondage and depopulation. Might I add, not just in this country but globally. God said, “My people are being destroyed for lack of knowledge” (Hosea 4:6). When will people wake up? Will it be too late? German citizens watched silently as Jews were carried off to death camps. Are you awake yet? What will your children and grandchildren have to say about you. It is time to stand for truth. “If you hold to my teaching, you are really my disciples. Then you will know the truth, and the truth will set you free” (John 8:31b-32 NIV).

**LOCAL NEWS** PENROSE, CO RESTAURANT AIMS TO PLEASE

Two Sisters originally opened June 1, 2001 in Florence Colorado. It was opened

by sisters Pat and Linda (Pope). Pat was the owner of the business and Linda ran it until her passing in 2003. In 2013 Pat passed away and her sister Connie took over the business to keep it going for family members to still have employment. In 2019 Cinda (Linda's daughter) bought it from Connie so she could return to ranching full time.

Cinda began working at the restaurant

in October of 2001 and has worked there ever since and now is the proud owner. In 2023 the opportunity arose to move to a more up to date building with a better location in Penrose right on hwy 115. After a lot of consideration Cinda took the leap of faith to move the long established business miles up the hill.

Within 9 weeks of making the decision to move Two Sisters opened up Decem-

ber 1. 2023, at it's new location. Penrose has been very welcoming and business is booming. Cinda is very happy with the choice she made (with God's guidance) to move to Penrose.

Come see Cinda and her staff and enjoy a great home-cooked meal. They are located on Highway 115 in Penrose and can be reached at (719) 784-4090
