Donna Peachey “We knew each other casually growing up, but when we were freshmen, we sat by each other in the back of math class. One day Bonnie passed me a note that said, ‘Do you want to come to my house after school?’

From then on, we were best friends. She’s the one person from those days that I still keep in touch with.”

Wade Chapman “We were in the Army together. On May 10, 1965, we were stationed at Fort Polk, in Louisiana. I retired at Ft. Carson on November 1, 1991.”

David Spengler “We lived on the same block in Whittier, California. Eddie Smith was a goofy guy with the funniest laugh, but he could fix anything and was a chemistry whiz. He was like a brother to me. Later in life, we met up again.

When he was dying, he sent me his rifle—a valuable 1917 Eddystone, used in World War I. We all served in Viet Nam, us guys in the neighborhood, and now I’m the only one left.”
