About Castle Ladyhawke
Adapted from The Courier-Tribune article by Samantha Swann, published October 9, 2018.
Built in 2005, Castle Ladyhawke was constructed using authentic period design and construction techniques inspired by Scottish Border castles. The result is a 10,000-square-foot castle with 30-inch stone walls, three stories, multiple terraces and balconies, and of course, the iconic tower!

Interior and exterior views of Castle Ladyhawke, including sumptuous suites and historically authentic architectural details.
The rooms are filled with items direct from Europe, including elaborately carved tables, chairs, chests and ornate rugs. Many of the stained-glass windows were salvaged from various churches, and the high-ceilinged Great Hall boasts a huge stone fireplace with an authentic 14th-century mantelpiece. The castle tower houses a grand spiral staircase leading up to the sweeping Tuckasegee River Valley views at the top.
The castle was also designed using locally-sourced materials and custom pieces by Western North Carolina artisans, including the stone used to build the castle, which was quarried nearby and shaped on site by local rock masons. The castle has been a wedding and event venue since 2008, and was recently purchased by a collective of local Bear Lake Reserve homeowners to keep it in the family and bring more magical moments to life.
