My first word was “book.” A book's power to fuse together perspective, imagery, and words to seed ideas and share experiences, has profoundly influenced the way I think. I’ve always loved the texture of the pages and the visual and imaginary worlds books open through words. Finding my way into design, where a book is a calling card, feels like a homecoming.

Books and brands both layer images, textures, and words to craft a story and evoke a feeling. Design is narrative. As a designer, I’m driven to share stories through the visual experiences I create. Like books, a cohesive brand transports us to a higher understanding of the world around us.

An upscale experience is not uncommon in the hotel industry. However, the modern traveler is discerning, and is most often seeking authenticity from travel experiences. In order to compete with both Airbnb and large-scale hotel corporations, boutique hotels must marry the best of both worlds, and craft a cultivated experience with both the flair of home-share and the guarantees of a hotel.
Ceiba encapsulates the historical context of the Yucatรกn into a boutique hotel experience. Inspired by Mayan architecture, the colors of a clear cenote, and the typography of the 1968 Mexico City Olympics, Ceiba seeks to capture the essence of Mexico's history throughout all brand touchpoints, from a mobile booking system to a hotel bar.

Everyone does laundry, but many people engage in different levels of activity, live in vastly different environments, and have varying skin or scent sensitivity. To make matters more complicated, environmentally conscious laundry products are hard to find and not always reliable stain fighters. Rarely does one size fit all, and laundry is no exception. Laverie seeks to make laundry a fun, custom, and above all, a functional process.
Laverie is a direct-to-consumer, fully customizable laundry product company, delivering eco-friendly and innovative formulas right to customers' doors. To reflect the customizable nature of its product offerings, Laverie utilizes a packaging system with custom labels for each customer. Hand drawn type and patterns lend the brand an approachable, human look that is well differentiated from other laundry companies.

Platform is a conference during which the world's leading furniture and interior design innovators gather to meet and discuss the industry's future. Platform seeks to push boundaries by learning from the past—lending a platform to ideas, craftsmanship, innovation, and new best practices. Crafting a brand system that pays homage to furniture design history is critical to the success of a conference, and to the longevity of the ideas set forth during this meeting of the minds.
With the vibrant city of Miami hosting this conference, and its focus on furniture design history, Platform's brand is influenced by midcentury silhouettes coupled with classic Miami Deco color. Quirky typography, a beachy color palette, and pun-heavy messaging allow the brand to feel fresh and invigorating without losing its informative and innovative edge.

Now more than ever, women are seeking dedicated spaces to conduct business, showcase art, network, and more. A women's only gym offers a safe, fun, community-oriented place to exercise and meet new people. Barbelle is a new kind of workout experience designed by women, for women. In order to access its young female audience, Barbelle must embody fun and inclusivity at every touchpoint, from its website to print collateral.
Many products or services marketed to women fall into the same tropes. Barbelle is a brand that is not only tough and strong, but also fun and sweet. By using active type, cheeky copywriting, and punchy color, Barbelle embodies the modern woman and differentiates from other gyms in the market. Barbelle's use of empowering imagery further illustrate its commitment to supporting and empowering women through communal physical activity.

Fly fishing is a quiet, ritualistic reprieve from the stress of day-to-day life. Swivel is a fly fishing supplier, inspired by crafting timeless goods and meeting its customers with gusto and high quality gear. To commemorate its 50 year anniversary, and engage its target audience of men 45 to 60, Swivel seeks to share its decades of craftsmanship through a brand book, packaging design, and an e-commerce site.
Swivel is a brand centered around storytelling—its status as a trusted source for fly fishing supplies is rooted in its history of delivering hardy, tough products. Swivel's story seeps into its brand book, packaging system, and website. In order to reflect the peace that fly fishing brings, Swivel's brand depends on the use of earthy imagery, rich, bold color, and down-to-earth copywriting to evoke a wise, reliable tone.

As young families seek to buy property, an increasingly common requirement from this generation is environmental friendliness. Wright Homes, situated in Phoenix, Arizona, is a new housing development dedicated to constructing homes informed by the natural world and its preservation. Through crafting an ethos-driven community, Wright seeks to bring like-minded individuals together as neighbors.
Wright Homes, named for the extensive archive of Frank Lloyd Wright properties in the Phoenix area, is a unique combination of eco-friendly and affordable. Wright's audience is young but driven by community. In order to appeal to buyers, the brand must be warm, smart, and just a little edgy. Through mixing type styles, clean, minimalist images, and copy driven by a sense of purpose, Wright Homes meets the needs of tomorrow's families, today.

Contra! Magazine is driven to define history in unconventional terms. It's about telling the story from the perspective other than the victor's. The mission of Contra! is to capture the anger of those who go unseen, and use this strong voice to educate the public through its open source platform.
By using a limited color palette, active typography, and taking an unconventional approach to distribution, Contra! both represents the frustration of the 99 percent and harnesses it to forge a better, more equal society.

With alcohol brands flooding the market, a distinctive packaging experience is crucial to a brand's success. Seven Falls is a gin product that embodies the warmth, wildness, and layers of the Sonoran Desert in Southern Arizona. Seven Falls captures the complexity of the desert, utilizing unique-to-Arizona plants for flavor, and compelling packaging that draws from Arizona roots.
The name Seven Falls is derived from a famous hike in Tucson, Arizona’s Sabino Canyon. Much like a good drink, the Seven Falls hike transports you to an oasis and offers respite from the day-to-day. Through a warm color palette, custom topographic diecuts, and copper foiling, Seven Falls Gin embodies the spirit of the old west and injects a sense of nature’s majesty.
