Master Plan !

Public health institutions are very complex projects because they have to deal with elements that allow for the healing of the patients and, at the same time, provide comforting sensations that generate well-being, relaxation, and a calm environment. In this type of project catering to children, it is important to manage areas where adults and kids are provided enough space for recreational activities and where patients’ concerns are diminished.! ! The main axis for this project is the construction of open spaces for social interaction and recreation such as courtyards oriented toward a green-space concept that will guide users to a different, warmer feeling that goes beyond the ordinary perception of hospitals. This time, we are undertaking the “health center” concept. We start with the creation of a central green space that works as the main visual point for most of the spaces in the center. This area provides a transition between the treatment zone and the hospitalization section; at the same time, it works as the lungs of the institution. Connected to the principal users and the need of an attractive environment for the kids, the green-space concept is joined to the idea of an amusement park, where a 45-degree axis provides the movement of big blocks that are brought together by green areas, water mirrors, and tunnels, all at different heights.!

! Comercial and Cultural Exchange Zone! Strategic-Vision Border Development:

It is a space located on the northern part of the border, on the Dominican side, for the cultural and commercial interaction between Haiti and the Dominican Republic. It attempts to be a market model for both countries. For this project, different elements that influence current trade were taken into consideration, all with the main idea of making a proposal for a simple structure which reflects both cultures and their architectural conceptions. Local materials were used and solutions responding to the environmental problems were considered. ! Â ! The project includes trade zones, recreational spaces, green zones, and institutional buildings that are already located in the area and that deal with commerce. This whole project attempts to carry out a fusion of the solutions to the environmental problems that make continuous trade difficult. It also rescues the values and traditions of the users and their natural environment. ! Â !
