Welcome
Thank you for joining Beatson Cancer Charity for the warmest celebration of the season
We are delighted to welcome you to the magnificent Glasgow Cathedral on this Sunday afternoon, to celebrate successes throughout the year, to remember the journey and your loved ones and to be thankful for memories, family, and community
Kindly hosted by Alison Walker, this afternoon will be filled with festive entertainment by the wonderful Rock Choir & SING aLOUD Choir, our amazing soloist Kirsty Duncan
Readings from special guests will give us an occasion to reflect with Beatson Cancer Charity’s Bauble Appeal to write your special message on your Beatson Christmas Bauble.
You might have your own reason to hang a Beatson Bauble this year. Maybe to remember someone special, to celebrate some good news or to give thanks.
You may hang your Beatson Bauble on the Cathedral Tree as you leave, or hand to a volunteer who will ensure it is placed on the Beatson Christmas Tree and take the second one home for your own tree, thank you.
By supporting our Christmas Celebration, you will help us to continue to provide care, love and hope to families this festive season and beyond.

White Christmas Lyrics
I'm dreaming of a white Christmas, just like the ones I used to know.
Where the treetops glisten, and children listen, to hear sleigh bells in the snow.
I'm dreaming of a white Christmas, with every Christmas card I write. May your days be merry and bright, and may all your Christmases be white
I'm dreaming of a white Christmas, just like the ones I used to know. Where the treetops glisten, and children listen, to hear sleigh bells in the snow.
I'm dreaming of a white Christmas, with every Christmas card I write. May your days be merry and bright, and may all your Christmases be white.
Winter Wonderland Lyrics
Sleigh bells ring, are you listening, In the lane, snow is glistening.
A beautiful sight, We're happy tonight, Walking in a winter wonderland.
Gone away is the bluebird, here to stay is a new bird. He sings a love song, as we go along, Walking in a winter wonderland.
In the meadow we can build a snowman, Then pretend that he is Parson Brown He'll say, "Are you married? "We'll say, "No man" But you can do the job when you're in town.
Later on, we'll conspire, as we dream by the fire To face unafraid, the plans that we've made, Walking in a winter wonderland
Sleigh bells ring, are you listening, In the lane, snow is glistening
A beautiful sight, We're happy tonight, Walking in a winter wonderland.
Gone away is the bluebird, here to stay is a new bird. He's singing a love song, as we go along, Walking in a winter wonderland. Walking in a winter wonderland.
Glasgow Cathedral
"It is lovely to welcome the Beatson Charity back to Glasgow Cathedral. We are the People’s Cathedral and aim to service the city. Please feel at home in this ancient place of worship" - Revd Mark E. Johnstone DL MA BD.

The first stone-built Glasgow Cathedral was dedicated in the presence of King David I in 1136 The present building was consecrated in 1197. Since that same period the Cathedral has never been unroofed, and the worship of God has been carried out within its walls for more than 800 years.
The splendid achievements of the architects and builders of those far off days can be studied and admired Not everything, however, is old and the Cathedral has one of the finest post-war collections of stained-glass windows to be found in Britain
The Cathedral has a regular and active congregation, with services on a Sunday at 11am and no visitor should leave the city without making a visit.
Unusually, the church is Crown property and is cared for by Historic Environment Scotland on behalf of Scottish Ministers Historic Environment Scotland have written a souvenir guidebook and provide expert interpretation to help bring the medieval Cathedral to life – after all, this is the best-preserved example of a large church to have survived from the medieval period in Scotland

A message from Martin Cawley, CEO, Beatson Cancer Charity.
Being with people is at the heart of what we do, for people living with cancer and their families. We’re with you today at Glasgow Cathedral to celebrate, to remember, to thank and to give hope. We celebrate the lives of those we support, the commitment of our supporters, volunteers and staff and thank everyone for your invaluable support!
Christmas is not just a time to reflect but also to look forward Working with our colleagues at the Beatson West of Scotland Cancer Centre we look to the future with hope as we work together towards creating a positive future for people with cancer and their families
Our core objective is to make a difference and help support people and their families through their cancer journey. We try to be the best that we can be in everything we do. From the way we deliver services to the way we raise our funds Over the last year we have formed new alliances and partnerships to help fulfil these goals We are proud to be part of Team Beatson and to add value where we can to the hugely important work they do. Quite simply, we could not do any of this without your support
We hope you enjoy our Christmas Celebration service. You too are part of Team Beason! Season’s greetings and warmest wishes to you all!
