Report to the Community highlights successes of 2020 by Mayor John Stewart Each day, City of Beaumont employees go to their jobs of looking after the community. From keeping green spaces tidy in the summer and making sure roads are clear in the winter, to being ready at a moment’s notice to rescue residents from vehicle accidents or fires, there are dozens of people working behind the scenes. Beaumont’s annual Report to the Community is a window into that work, capturing the many accomplishments and activities guided by Our Beaumont, Municipal Strategic Plan 2017-2021. That plan sets the direction for Council and city administration, underpinned by six pillars for change: • Livability • Connecting with Citizens • Good Governance, Fiscal Responsibility, and Efficient Use of Tax Dollars • Regional Collaboration and Leadership • Economic Prosperity • Welcoming Diversity and Celebrating our Cultural Heritage. I’d be understating it to say that 2020 was a difficult year. The COVID-19 pandemic and health measures challenged us like never before. Council and city employees worked to maintain essential services that residents rely on every

day and protect the health of the public, all while adjusting to an ever-changing situation.

Share your thoughts for Beaumont’s Age-Friendly Strategy

• Celebrated Beaumont’s heritage with events and activities recognizing Alberta Francophonie month, National Indigenous Peoples Day, and Métis Week. This only scratches the surface and doesn’t even begin to include all the work needed to adapt to the evolving health measures, facility and business closures and re-openings due to the pandemic. I encourage you to read the full report on our website by following the QR code with this article. While the report details many of the activities of Council and city administration, it doesn’t capture all of the contributions of Beaumont’s volunteers, community organizations and businesses. Whether they are organizing food and gift drives at Christmas, leading kids groups, sponsoring minor sports, or simply giving their neighbours a helping hand with chores, Beaumont’s volunteers and businesses put in countless hours serving the community. Their efforts, along with the work of city employees, make sure Beaumont continues to be great place to live, play and raise a family.

Our city's Age-Friendly Strategy identifies actions that will improve accessibility and inclusion for all residents in Beaumont, and especially older adults. The City needs your feedback to make sure the draft Age-Friendly Strategy meets our community’s needs and supports our great quality of life. Share your thoughts by May 21.
