* Steering committee met 9 times to discuss the joint growth Study project * July, 2011: The Joint Growth study was presented to both Councils and accepted as information. * The study recognizes that Beaumont needs to grow.
Mediation and Meetings
* Nov 28, 2012: Decision to commence negotiations with Leduc County on an annexation proposal (for 24 quarters) North,west and south of Beaumont * Dec 11, 2012 : 2012 Beaumont Growth Study is finalized as a supporting document for Beaumont's upcoming annexation application. * Beaumont met with the City of Edmonton ON TWO OCCASIONS regarding the future growth of the community during this time frame.
2013
* Feb 13, 2013- Feb 3, 2014: 17 mediated meetings with Leduc County (combination of mediation meetings and technical meetings) between beaumont and leduc county *Joint updates provided by both Municipalities.
Public Consultation, Negotiations and Amendments to notice of intent to annex * February 19, 2014: Acting on feedback received from the public consultation and negotiations with the County and considering the needs of Edmonton, Beaumont files an amended notice of intent to Annex ( reduced annexation request from 24 quarters to 21 quarters ) * July 3, 2014: Beaumont submits formal annexation application to the Municipal Government Board for 21 quarters.

* March 5, 2013: Edmonton files notice of intent to annex (lands identified are 0.8km north of twp rd 510)

* Nov 22, 2016: Alberta Municipal Affairs announces that, in accordance with, the Municipal Government Board's recommendation, the province has approved Beaumont's annexation application and that the 21 quarters requested will be annexed to Beaumont effective January 1, 2017.
* May 1, 2013: Beaumont files Notice of intent to Annex (24 quarters) * June 6-12, 2013: Beaumont holds 4 Public Open
Houses with residents,landowners and interested parties. overall, impacted stakeholders were supportive of Beaumont's proposed annexation.

Preliminary Hearing and Growth Study/ Financial impact Study * Sept 18,2014:The Municipal Government Board conducted a Preliminary Hearing on Beaumont’s annexation application. Leduc county and city of Edmonton made presentations at these hearing. * Nov 25,2014: ISL Growth Study and Financial Impact Analysis to support the Annexation Application were finalized ( These updates were completed to address comments raised during public consultation and discussions with Leduc County ).

* April, 2015: Edmonton ( without discussing with Beaumont ) FILES an amended notice of INTENT to ANNEX,including lands up to township road 510 ( Beaumont's current boundary ), which increased the overlap with Beaumont's proposed annexation area to 9 quarters.

Final Annexation merit hearings > Jun 8 - 24, 2015: Final Annexation Merit Hearings (13 Days of Hearings) > Presentations were made by Beaumont, Leduc county, city of Edmonton, impacted stakeholders and interested parties * city of Edmonton doesn't want Beaumont to grow north * leduc county doesn't want Beaumont to grow south. > Beaumont was asking for 21 quarters ( 0.5 % of Leduc county's land base ) For Comparison: 'Edmonton was asking for 254 quarters ' Grand prairie annexed 98 quarters ' chestermere annexed 42 quarters ' airdrie annexed 79 quarters ' strathmore annexed 18.5 quarters > Beaumont ranks 11th in population out of 21 for urban municipalities ( 10,000-60,000), yet it has the smallest land area ( 21st out of 21) .
