REGISTRATION HINTS! Are you ready to register? Here are some hints and tips to make it easier! PRIOR TO REGISTRATION DAY: • Ensure the accuracy of your Click-it account by testing your login information and verifying that all your family members are correctly listed under your account. • Determine your preferred courses in advance, and it is advisable to have alternative classes in mind in case your initial choices are already full. • We strongly advise against pre-loading classes into your cart before registration opens. Doing so may result in your cart being cleared, and you may be logged out of the software. • If your preferred class is full, we recommend joining the waitlist. If other participants cancel their registration or if new classes are created, we will fill those spots from the waitlist. SWIM ABILITIES 30 MINUTES $120.00 FOR 8 CLASSES

(PARENTED/SUPERVISED)

Swim Abilities program is for participants with special needs. While this program uses the progressions in the Lifesaving Society Swim for Life program, the performance criteria for each level have been broken down into smaller, more manageable progressions to create a positive learning environment and make the success of each swimmer more achievable. The progressions have been created to progress swimmers with special needs slowly and at their own rate while adapting the program according to their abilities and needs. 30 MINUTES $21.00 PER CLASS (PARENTED/SUPERVISED)

These 30-minute private lessons are here for swimmers who may need one-off lessons to accommodate to various attention spans, abilities, and scheduling needs.

To help meet the needs of our Swim Abilities candidates, we have changed our inquiry and registration process. Please contact the BSRC Aquatics Team to learn more about the program and the registration process. E-mail: aquatic.programs@beaumont.ab.ca

CLASS INTENSITY LEVELS All of our classes are designed to offer different intensity levels to suit the fitness needs of our entire community! While classes are rated more or less intense, do note that our certified instructors skillfully offer modifications to our fitness classes to adapt to varying fitness levels and physical limitations. RPE – Rate of Perceived Exertion is based on a scale of 1-10. Rate of perceived exertion is a measure of effort level. A rating of 1 is rest or extremely light exercise, 2-5 ratings reflect easy-moderate exercise, 6-7 is moderate to hard, and a rating of 8-10 is vigorous exercise.

LOW INTENSITY RPE: 2-5

MODERATE INTENSITY RPE: 6-8

HIGH INTENSITY RPE: 8-10

Classes rated as low intensity typically use low impact movements. You are still comfortable performing exercises while challenging yourself, and you can carry a conversation during class. 51

Classes rated as moderate intensity use variations of both high and low impact exercises, also can be dependent on the participant’s preferred modifications. Comfort zones are pushed while you are starting to get short of breath and only maintain brief conversation.

Classes rated as high intensity use variations of both high and low impact exercises reaching very difficult to maintain effort levels. This effort level will make you unable to maintain conversation, and leave you out of breath while pushing your limits!
