Family & Community Support Services EARLY DEVELOPMENT INSTRUMENT
WHAT IS FCSS AND HOW CAN WE HELP YOU?
The Early Development Instrument (EDI) is a standardized tool that measures the development of five-year-old children based on the children’s social, emotional, physical and intellectual development. Across the province, some 70,000 children have group counseling, positive youth development, family violence prevention, education and support, and a plethora of programs provided to support children in the schools have been evaluated and the results of this survey can be found online at www.ecmap.ca. As part of our ongoing commitment to the children of Beaumont, the programs we offer are being purposefully created with one or more of the five developmental domains in mind. Where you see the symbols by the programs you will know what domains they primarily focus on. If you have any questions about the EDI, ECMap or the five developmental domains and our programming, please contact the FCSS office at 780-929-1006.

U10 (6 – 9 YEAR OLDS) AND ACTIVE START (UNDER 6) WHY RINGETTE? Ringette is an exciting team sport that emphasizes fun, while allowing for the maximum participation of all players. The rules encourage safety and no intentional body contact is permitted. The game promotes social and emotional maturity by encouraging team work through competition and cooperation. Ringette requires both fitness and strategy. Players must rely on agility, speed, and endurance, which in turn build fitness. Early experience in Ringette provides Half Pagethe opportunity to develop participants with strength, balance, flexibility, agility, and muscular Quarter Page coordination. 6.875”
