The Search Institute’s 40 Developmental Assets are positive values, qualities and experiences that children and youth need to grow up healthy, caring and responsible. FCSS and the Town of Beaumont have embraced the philosophy of the 40 Developmental Assets and we hope you will too. Everyone in our community can build assets for children and youth, whether you are a parent, teacher, aunt, neighbor or business owner, you can help the youth in our community succeed. It’s simple, just give them your time, pay attention to the good things kids do and be intentional with every interaction you have with a young person.

Six ways that you can show kids you care • Smile at every infant, child and young person you see • Send a thank you card to a young person • Ask a young person for their opinion and listen to it • Take a young person with you when you volunteer • Get to know your neighbors—talk to the teenager next door • Ask a young person to teach you something
