The Founder with daughter Emmy Class of 2013

Hello! This is Charlene, Founder By Charlene Blacer

Happy Summer! My photo is me and my daughter, Emmellene, who recently graduated from college. As a single mom, this is a sense of relief and joy. I have never graduated from college because early on, I decided to pursue a career in beauty, which does not need a college degree. After my Sophomore year in college, majoring in Nursing, I left to follow my dreams to become a Hair Extensionist. After graduation, no salons did not want to hire me because they found no need for my services so I had no choice

There I was a graduate, joblessliving in the middle of New York City! That was back in but to start my own business.

1992. After numerous odds and end jobs, the Internet boom began and I created a website, started my business and quit my night jobs, and here I am! Looking back, I believe things had to happen for the reasons that aligned with

my path today. And if I was just a Nurse, I doubt my life would be fulfilling. The hair loss/Trichotillomania path was the path of choice. Since my last issue, I mentioned how thrilled I was to be exhibiting the HelpMe2Stop booth at the world’s largest beauty convention, the International Beauty Show or IBS. At the show which had over 50,000 attendees, my mouth was running a million miles a minute, repeating to every bypasser; “Do you know what Trichotillomania is?” It was tiring and overwhelming not to mention the bathroom line took forever! I had no voice by the end of the day. Nonetheless, I was determined to teach as many stylists about Trichotillomania. And would you believe

out of the thousands, only less than 5 knew about Trichotillomania? What our beauty and academic schools lack is education. I am currently working on a Charity Dinner and Classes

for Salon Professionals that will held August 3,4,5, 2013 in Tannersville, PA. This dinner will benefit our National Trich Awareness Campaign launch for October 1-7. I hope you can attend and help get this movement going! For the event information, please visit bit.ly/August2013 Thank you and Have a Happy 4th of July! Let FREEDOM ring!

Trichotillomania Pull-Free Bracelet HELLOOOOO! I'm stoked. I'm on a high. I'm in a great mood BECAUSE I have made it 10 days pull-free. This is HUGE for me. I NEVER go this long. Can you tell I am really, really excited??? I totally am. The pull-free bracelet is helping me so much. It's one thing to have a jar of popsicle sticks at home, but to have something on you, like a bracelet, that is is constant reminder of what you have accomplished, you just will not want to waste each bead you've added for one little eyebrow or eyelash.

I'm at 10 days now... and I'm on a roll. If you struggle from trichotillomania, I really hope you'll give a pull-free reward a chance. It could make all the difference.

For every day that I go without pulling, I add a bead to my bracelet. I did really well with it for a while, and eventually, I took it off. Not only is it helping keep me accountable again, but I'm helping provide a little bit of motivation to these ladies! Now, we've even got a couple more people joining us in the bracelet making! It's so exciting to see an idea take flight... and actually be helpful. I like the idea of reward systems like this because they can work for anything and any goals you may want to achieve... whether it's adding beads for pounds lost in a journey to a healthier lifestyle, days without biting your nails, or anything that would make you want to look down and say, "Wow, look how many days I've gone," this is just a neat way to see it in action. Here's to being pull-free and having a bracelet full of beads!

The Goal Bracelet, and it can apply to anything you're working toward, whether it's days being pull-free like me, pounds lost, days without doing "insert your goal here," or counting all the achievements you've made— it's just so versatile and I am excited to share it with you! Here are my 4-steps to the fool-proof Goal Bracelet. The supplies you'll need are: pony bead lacing, connectors, and craft beads. My 3 big tips: 1.

I prefer mini pony beads over the standard size because they're so much smaller! I like my Goal Bracelet to go with me anywhere (in the shower, in the pool, on my long runs)—I never take it off—so having something that's not only waterproof but small and streamlined is important to me. I have tried several methods for this, and the triple-wrap is the best that works for me. I find that wrapping the bracelet 3-times helps so it's easier to put on yourself each morning, since you can keep it snug while you're inserting the connector into the pony bead lacing. I always hold the side with the connector against my palm with my left hand, wrap it around my wrist 3-times, and then insert the other end with my right hand. I've tried using a single-strand bracelet for this, and I drop it every time. The knot at one end helps prevent beads from slipping off. Sometimes, my fingers slip while I'm putting my bracelet on and I drop it ... if there's no knot at one end, the beads usually scatter all over the ground. I haven't had a problem since I started using the knot. The knot also helps if you're ◦ like me and want a specific bead pattern... this way I don't have to figure out where it stops or starts!

What goal are you looking to achieve? Would you use a Goal Bracelet to help? If you make one, tweet or instagram me with the hashtag #GoalBracelet and be sure to tag @auniesauce! I'd love to hear your feedback!
