The Arlington School District’s mathmobile and bookmobile programs will be combined this year as the ‘Cool Bus’ begins to visit local neighborhoods throughout the summer. The program began on June 29 and will continue through Aug. 3. Multiple teachers come with the bus to help kids either check out books from the bus to read at home or engage in math activities. “They get a chance to play math games and activities in a picnic-like atmo-

assistant director of the city’s Parks, Culture and Recreation Department. “It will stay open from now until Labor Day,” he said. The park feature is open from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. daily.

Arlington Innovation Center will help new businesses By Christopher Andersson christopher@northcountyoutlook.com Locals who hope to start a business or market a new invention can receive support at the recently opened TheLab@Arlington. The city of Arlington has been working to open something to support new businesses and was able to work with the NW Resource Innovation Center, who run similar facilities in Skagit County and will run the Arlington facility as well. TheLab@Arlington is located at 404 N. Olympic Ave., Arlington, and held their ribbon cutting on June 28. “We’re basically providing a center, or a hub, for entrepreneurs to come and move

from ideas to having a product or service that is an active business,” said Diane Kamionka, executive director of the NW Resource Innovation Center. The facility can host seminars and classes, and serve as a way to connect to local business leaders that can offer mentorship. Two Arlington business owners have already volunteered to be mentors, said Kamionka. Rob Magrino said he has worked with the NW Resource Innovation Center to help his business, AquaBlastFit, which is an underwater punching bag that can be used for general fitness.
