The Logo This logo aims to showcase Giant Steps’ contemporary appeal, while still remaining fun and kid-friendly. The words“giant steps” are presented in a sans-serif typeface with rounded edges in order to give the logo a playful look that is attractive to children, as well as their parents. The contrasting thin lines of the typeface used for “Wear. Play. Learn.” resonates that the brand is fashionable as well as affordable. The dinosaurs are inviting to children, and their varied sizes represent family, as well as growth. The increasig sizes emphasize that the store provides for growing children, from toddlers to ten-years. The three dinosaurs and the three colors represent that Giant Steps offers three categories of merchandise: clothing, toys, and books. The verbs “Wear. Play. Learn.” create a call-to-action phrase, which invites parents and children to come shop. Finally, the full color scheme is friendly and inviting, while maintaining a sense of sophistication.

Clear Space In order to ensure that other elements are kept at an appropriate distance from the logo, clear space is assigned. Using the diagram above, the clear space can be easily implemented. Using “x as a basic measuring unit, simply use the area indicated, and use basic math to divide the area and calculate the amount of space required. 7

Elements The dinosaurs may be used as separate elements, either as individual dinosaurs, or as a group. The dinosaurs may only be used in the colors described on the color guide located on page 5. If used as a group, the dinosaurs from the logo (which inrease in size) must be used, and these colors should not be altered. Where appropriate, the dinosaurs may be reflected as long as they maintain their proportions.

8

Typography The words “Giant Steps” was created using the font Comfortaa bold. This font can be used for headlines, and Cofortaa regular can be used for small amounts of text (such as the table of contents page in this guide.) The phrase “Wear. Play. Learn.” was created using the font Gill Sans regular. The preferred typeface to be used with this logo (for stationery or other professional accessories used for the business) is Avenir. Above are samples of the typefaces in different forms from their font families, which can be used. 9

Incorrect Usage The logo should not be distorted, compressed, or expanded in any way. Its proportions should remain in-tact at all times.

The colors of the logo should not be altered. The colors indicated in this manual (page 5) should be the only colors used. An individual dinosaur, however, can be changed to purple. Guidelines for this adjustment can be found on page 8.

Do not place logo on top of a busy background. The background should compliment the logo, not overpower it.

10

Incorrect Usage

Do not rotate the logo at any angle. It must remain upright and aligned as is.

Do not place patterns into the logo, whether it be in the full logo, the isolated dinosaur group, or individual dinosaurs. The logo should maintain the intensions of the original design. (See the logo description on page 2.)

No additional elements of any kind should be added directly to the logo.
