catering guidelines Services Offered Bon Appetit Management Company offers numerous types of services. Your catering coordinator will be happy to assist you in choosing the service that best fits your event and budget. Pick-Up Your meal is prepared and placed in disposable serviceware. The meal and everything needed may be picked up at Dow Conference Center at 22 East Galloway St., Hillsdale, MI. Drop-Off Your meal is prepared, delivered, and set up by our catering team. Tables are set with linen and appropriate serviceware. Once your event is complete, our staff will return to clean up. Full-Service Buffet Your meal is prepared, delivered, and set up in buffet form. Tables will be set with linen and serviceware. Place settings will be cleared by our catering team who will complete a full clean up at the conclusion of your event. Formal Table Service Our goal is to provide a fine dining experience. Your meal is prepared and served by professionally trained staff. All courses for this service are catered tableside to your guests. Our standard time for meal service is two hours. If you prefer to have a longer service, please see “Staffing.” Our policy is to remain out of the dining area during any presentations or programs your group is offering. Please discuss beforehand with your catering coordinator if you wish for service to continue during these times.
Staffing Bon Appétit Management Company will provide approximately one server for every 25 guests for a “Formal Table Service” event. Approximately one server for every 40 guests will be provided for a “Full-Service Buffet” event. Should you desire to have more staff available for your event, servers will be provided for 25.00 per hour per server with a required two hour minimum charge. Disposableware is included for all events on campus not within the Searle or Dow Center. A staffing charge will be added only if glassware and china are to be substituted with the disposable ware.

catering guidelines Service Charge, Inclusions, Tax, Delivery, and Deposit Outside food and beverage is prohibited at Bon AppĂŠtit catered events unless preauthorized by your catering coordinator. Service Charges An 18% service fee on all food and beverage will be added to events excluding those directly charged to Hillsdale College department accounts. This service charge may cover such costs as standard set up, serviceware, dinnerware, wait service, and clean up. In an effort to accommodate small-scale events, a minimum fee of 25.00 will be applied to any order with less than 10 guests. Inclusions Included with your event (at the prices listed) are disposable or china service (dependent on location), basic linen for tables and buffets, napkins, wait service (where applicable), and all standard accoutrements. Any additional linen for tables not used for food or beverage will incur an additional charge. Tax Any and all applicable taxes shall be assessed per current regulation and law. Prices in this book do not include tax. If your group qualifies, please provide a tax exempt certificate. Delivery All events that do not occur on the campus of Hillsdale College will incur a delivery charge, dependent upon distance, with a minimum charge of 25.00. We request all work orders, room requests, and space reservations with Hillsdale College be submitted by the person or department booking the event. We will work with facilities to ensure set ups are properly executed once work orders have been placed. Bon Appetit accepts cash, check, Hillsdale College department codes, and all major credit cards. All events not using a Hillsdale College department code for payment will require a deposit. In order to secure and confirm Bon Appetit catering services, a deposit of half of the events total cost must be received. Full payment will be due when final head counts are submitted.
Head Count and Dietary Needs Head Count A final head count must be received 3 business days before the event. If head counts decrease after the deadline, you will be charged for the count given 3 days in advance. Parties of 200 or more guests may be required to provide a final count 5 business days before the day of the event. Dietary Needs A list of dietary restrictions for guests attending your event is due 3 business days prior to the event. We will not be able to guarantee any requests given late. Bon Appetit is a chef driven, from-scratch company which allows us to cater to special dietary needs. Talk to your catering coordinator to find out more about how we can help guests with dietary restrictions.
