I work effectively within a team as shown through my various places of work and my communication skills are something which I consider a great asset of mine. My personality makes me a very sociable person within the workplace and someone who thrives within a studio environment and strives to achieve the best. Whilst undertaking my studies at Sixth Form I conducted a series of fundraising events (including bag packing, a bike ride and company sponsorships), which enabled me to travel to Peru with my school for a month with no communication with home in order to help improve living conditions in some remote villages and undertake the Inka trail trek to Machu Picchu.

TRANSFERABLE SKILLS Whilst working as a hospitality waitress I worked within a team effectively and learnt how to successfully build strong customer relationships in order to ensure that people rebooked tables within the hospitality suite for the next football season. This also enabled me to develop great communication skills which were further enhanced when I became a student ambassador. Working in events and hospitality also made me become flexible and adaptable when dealing with unexpected situations including dietary requirements and unexpected guests. Developing my critical decision making skills during this period of work was key. Whilst studying at The University of Huddersfield I further learnt the ability to work as part of a team as well as dramatically improving my CAD skills. Furthermore whilst being on the committee for two societies at university during my second year I learnt a lot of time management skills.

YOGA RETREAT
Yoga Retreat
Here I have chosen a few selected images from my first project of my third year at University. We were given a brief to design a small scale building within Conwy which was personal to us. As a result of this I designed a Yoga Retreat because I have experienced stress-related anxiety and for me yoga and meditation massively help me to relax. The building is situated in the north of conwy in a forest. This is because my favourite memory from being at home when I was younger was running around the trees at the local park. I used to sit under one of the trees which was particularly in the sunlight because I found the dappled shadows created very calming. As a result my whole building design was influenced by these shadows. I added thin glazing panels around the building to emulate the patterns created by numerous tree trunks in a forested area with the light coming through them. As a result there is a range of distances between the glazed panels to show different tree trunk thicknesses.

GIN DISTILLERY
Gin Distillery
Here I have chosen a few selected images from my final project of my second year at University where I designed a gin distillery to be situated within the town of Holmfirth. The building is situated in the centre of Holmfirth where there is currently a Post Office. I wanted the building to not only be able to distil the gin but also increase income for the business by including visitor tours of the distillery. For this I had two buildings, one which was semi-public and public use spaces and one which was private spaces. This helped me to ensure that the botanical greenhouse and offices could be kept away from visitors and remain private. The main building includes viewing platforms of the still house as well as a bar and gin shop.
