Seersucker

Cotton satin duvet covers are made of 100% cotton, a natural product. Cotton satin has a beautiful sheen thanks to delicate weaving. This gives satin duvet covers a chic look. They have a soft touch to them due to the use of delicate yarns. Thanks to the satin weave, cotton satin feels even lichter than regular cotton and is a breathable fabric.

Seersucker is a summer quality which feels very light and comfortable in warm summer nights. It is a thin, soft fabric made of 100% cotton with a puckered surface. It is loose woven with a very smooth yarn. By that, the fabric seems a little bit translucent. Without ironing the textile keeps its unique look and feel.

Organic Cotton

Lyocell is made from the cellulose fibres from beech trees. The cultivaton process is much more environmentally friendly than for example cotton cultivation. The fabric provides very good temperature regulation, making tis cool in summer and warm in winter. Due to the mix of lyocell and cotton satin, the fabric is silky soft, durable, glossy and comfortable to sleep under.

Recycled cotton requires less raw materials, water, fertilizer and pesticides to produce. Using recycled cotton also helps to reduce waste. It is mixed with BCI cotton. Therefore this makes it a more sustainable choice than conventional cotton. Cotton is breathable, absorbent and easy to maintain. Cotton is the most commonly used material for duvet covers and is suitable for all seasons.

Organic cotton is grown in almost the same way as normal cotton. The main difference is that organic cotton is not exposed to harmful and synthetic pesticides, genetic modification or fertilizers. Our organic cotton is GOTS (Global Organic Textile standard) certified. It is breathable, moisture-absorbing, softer and thicker than conventional cotton and is also more resistant to wear and tear.

How to create a storybed in your showroom

What you need for a storybed

A new season a new collection! Time to restyle your showroom and inspire your customers! Our Beddinghouse collection is designed to match the latest trends in interior and fashion, each Beddinghouse story highlights a current trend. For each story we have put together a storybed that captures the mood of the story on one bed. Ideal for your shop window presentation and as an eycatcher in your showroom!

Introduction

How to make the perfect Storybed. You will need: A little bit of creativity! Whether styling is your thing or not the following tips will help you to create an attractive storybed.

Three thick duvets. Thin duvets tend to look like a tableloth on the bed, nice and cool to sleep under but they don’t make for an attractive presentation! Three or four pillows. Plump pillows are the best for presentation purposes.

Molton and Fitted Sheet. The Organic Basic needs of a mattress is a molton because it's for protection. Your can show your customers by 'peeling' the layers of. On top the fitted sheet, not only for sleeping comfort but also in a colour that matches the storybed.

Tips first then fold the “tuck- in” stroke from both covers under the mattrass.

Use your creativity!

Place the third duvet cover on top of the second, take hold of the “tuck-in” stroke and gently pull the duvet towards you until the duvet almost touches the floor. Fold the “tuck in”stroke loosely under the duvet so that it can’t be seen.

Three duvet covers. At the end of each story chapter in this book you will find two pages with styling advies including a photo of the storybed and the duvet covers used for the styling.

Now you can start styling the bed. Take a good look at the photo’s of the story beds in this book and see if you can copy the styling. We normally leave the undermost duvet flat. The second duvet is then folded over leaving enough room for pillows and cushions and the third duvet is also folded so that the second duvet can be seen. Try out different ways of folding, straight, slanted, fold over once or twice until you’re happy with the result.

Cushions. For each storybed we have selected a group of Kaat cushions that compliment the style and colour of the story. Our selction can also be found on the styling pages at the end of each story chapter. When you have everything you need you can start making your storybed. Place the pillows and cushions on the bed use our storybed photo’s for inspiration. If you don’t have the exact same cushions use others with a similar colour to those in the photo.

Tips for the best possible presentation When you put each duvet into the duvet cover make sure that it’s a neat fit in other words – that the seams are straight and that the duvet cover is completely filled.

Introduction

Product Bedding House strives to achieve sustainability in the entire production line, and the aim is to include the entire process – from the plant to the product – in this goal. Our objective is to use more sustainable fabrics in the future, both cotton and other fabrics which do have a smaller footprint.

Steps already taken: • Bedding House has been a partner of the Better

Cotton Initiative since 2016. The Better Cotton Initiative is the largest cotton sustainability programme in the world. Already all cotton used for our brand Beddinghouse is 100% BCI. Our aim in to include all our brands to this programme. • In 2021 we will add designs made of recycled cotton and organic cotton (GOTS). The Global Organic Textile Standard (GOTS) is recognised

as the world's leading processing standard for textiles made from organic fibres. It defines high-level environmental criteria along the entire organic textiles supply chain and requires compliance with social criteria as well. With these two launches we will use more sustainable cotton. • Also in 2021 new qualities like Bamboo and Lyocell are introduced in our collections. These are alternatives for cotton, being the most used quality in bedtextile but also a quality which is not very good for the environment. Adding the new qualities, next to others like e.g. linen, we will further reduce our ecological footstep. • Left over fabrics are used to make nice bags and also to produce facemasks.

People We support projects at home and abroad that are primarily concerned with the well-being of people. Bedding House’s products are made in Pakistan, India and China and we select our manufacturers in these countries with great care to ensure that good working conditions are in place. We also visit our manufacturers regularly to ensure that products are made to our specifications. Bedding House is supporting Mercy Ships since 2019. Mercy Ships is an international organization providing free medical care in developing countries on board of the largest non-governmental hospital ships of the world. Our sponsorship consists of providing bed textiles for the hundreds of hospital beds on the ship.

Bedding House is highly aware of the adverse effects of plastic on our planet. In order to reduce the usage of PVC, it is our objective to pack all our products 100% PVC free. Rethinking the way we design our packaging is one step further down the road to a cleaner environment and a sustainable future. Care collection We want to minimise the impact of our products on the environment and therefore strive to use sustainable materials. Our main source of raw material is cotton. The cultivation and processing of cotton has a major impact on the environment, which is why our focus is on finding sustainable alternatives. The bed linen from the Beddinghouse care collection is made from materials that disperse moisture well, have antibacterial properties and are generally easier to recycle. The amount of water used in the production of these materials is considerably less than that used in the production of more traditional materials, also fewer chemicals such as pesticides and bleach and cheap and dangerous additives such as microplastics are used. In order to further increase sustainability, PVC is no longer used in the Beddinghouse care collection packaging. The packaging is made out of cardboard that has the FSC label, this means that the raw material for the cardboard comes from responsibly managed forests.

Lyocell Lyocell is made from the cellulose fibres from beech trees, that can be grown on soil that is not suitable for agriculture. Because beech trees can be grown using waste water and fewer harmful solvents, the cultivation process is much more environmentally friendly than for example, cotton cultivation. The beech tree needs less water, pesticides and fertilizer to grow and is therefore a more sustainable option. In addition to this, lyocell has antibacterial qualities, an excellent moisture absorbing capacity and offers optimal ventilation. The fabric provides very good temperature regulation, making this duvet cover cool in summer and warm in winter. Due to the mix of lyocell and cotton satin, this duvet cover is silky soft, durable, glossy and pleasantly comfortable to sleep under.

Using recycled cotton also helps to reduce waste. BCI (Better Cotton Initiative) sets requirements that the cotton process must meet in order to ensure a more sustainable end product. All in all, this makes recycled cotton/BCI cotton a more sustainable choice than conventional cotton. Cotton is breathable, absorbent and easy to maintain. Organic Cotton Organic cotton is grown in almost the same way as normal cotton; the main difference is that organic cotton is not exposed to harmful and synthetic pesticides, genetic modification or fertilizers. In addition to this, our organic cotton is GOTS certified. G.O.T.S. (Global Organic Textile Standard) is an international organic textile label that sets quality requirements for the production of fibres and their further processing and guarantees that the production takes place in a socially responsible and environmentally friendly manner. Organic cotton is breathable, moisture- absorbing, softer and thicker than conventional cotton and is also more resistant to wear and tear.

Field with Poppies In May 1888 Van Gogh stayed in Arles, in the South of France. Upon his arrival from Paris that February, he had been inspired by the regionâ&#x20AC;&#x2122;s broad landscapes. Van Gogh used bright, unmixed colours. This work illustrates what he had learned in Paris. There he had encountered a variety of new art movements, including Impressionism and Pointillism. As soon as he arrived in the southern city of Arles, he began painting his surroundings. He tried to use everything he had learned to find a style of his own.

Almond Blossom In January 1890 Theo wrote to Vincent that his wife Johanna had given birth to a son. The baby was to be named Vincent Willem, after his godfather. As a gift for the new arrival Vincent painted a picture of one of his favourite subjects, large branches of blossom against a blue sky. He thought that the work could be hung above the marital bed. Vincent chose the branches of the almond tree as a symbol of new life for the almond is one of the earliest trees to blossom, heralding spring in February. The artist drew his inspiration for the welldefined contouring and positioning of the tree in the picture plane from Japanese prints.

The White Orchard Soon after Van Gogh arrived in Arles, the spring came. There were many fruit orchards around the city. He enthusiastically painted a large series of studies of orchards in blossom. These plum trees were poorly maintained, as their long branches show. Van Gogh was especially fond of timeworn trees like these.

Small Bottle with Peonies and Blue Delphiniums Van Gogh painted this flower still life on a simple piece of card, using rapid, loose brushstrokes. It is one of many studies in which he experimented with the effects of different colours on each other. His brother Theo wrote to their mother: 'He is mainly painting flowers, with the aim of making future pictures brighter in colour'. Theo wrote that acquaintances were giving Van Gogh a bunch of flowers every week. This was one of the first bunches he painted; many more were to follow.

Boulevard de Clichy Boulevard de Clichy is one of the major streets in the Paris district of Montmartre, where many artists lived. Van Gogh painted the junction that he often crossed. Rue Lepic, where he lived with his brother Theo, began on the right, just beyond the edge of the picture. In Paris, Van Gogh was exposed to the latest art movements of his day, Impressionism and Pointillism. This gradually led him to use lighter colours. He also experimented with a variety of painting techniques. His style of brushwork, with many dashes of paint side by side, shows the influence of these art movements. In the same paintings, he also tried out diluted oil paint.

Trees and Undergrowth In Paris, Van Gogh experimented with the Pointillist stippling technique. This woodland scene is a good example. He covered the entire canvas with small dots of paint. The result is a play of light and shadow on the ground between the trees. The strip of yellow in the middle suggests the sunlight of a clearing in the distance. Along with the tree trunk on the right, it brings depth to the scene.

Wild Roses Towards the end of his stay in the psychiatric facility in Saint-RĂŠmy-deProvence, Van Gogh regains a serenity and joy of life that he had almost forgotten. This state of mind can be seen in his work of this period, especially in the sketches of flowers he created in the hospital garden. He writes to his mother and tells her that watching the budding flowers is good for his health. Apart from his famous Irises (1889), he paints white roses. The subject, the technique, close-up, black outlines, and lack of background refer to the Japanese print art. A few years before, Van Gogh discovered several Japanese woodblock printing artists in Paris, who practiced this refined and elegant art. He is very impressed with their work and often uses their techniques.

Vase with Chinese Asters and Gladioli Van Gogh had always used generous amounts of paint. But after discovering the flower still lifes of Adolphe Monticelli (1824-1886) in June 1886, he went one step further. That French artist

painted colourful bouquets with thick paint and emphatic brushstrokes. Van Gogh compared them to liquid clay.

Sunflowers A symphony in blue and yellow was how Van Gogh thought the interior of the yellow house should appear when Gauguin arrived. He wanted to impress his friend with a series of decorative still lifes of sunflowers. These still lifes were to grace the walls of Gauguin’s bedroom and be framed with ‘thin slats of wood, painted in red lead’. Van Gogh started the series with great ardour. He had to work quickly as the flowers quickly

After a long winter, birds are singing again, and the outside air feels crisp and clean. This can only mean one thing: springtime is finally here. Now that trees are starting to bud and flowers are starting to bloom, we would like to bring a little bit of nature’s beauty into our own homes as well. For our new bedding collection, we looked to all things natural as a source of inspiration. Patterns with rainbows, palm leaves or a meadow full of pastel coloured flowers will remind you that after rain, there will always be sunshine. And that after a long and busy day, you can always crawl under these lovely sheets and enjoy those sweet spring dreams.

Her emotional connection to everything that crawls, flies, grows and blooms in her garden is clearly expressed in her work. For years these scenes have been artfully adapted in cooperation with Bedding House to create beautiful bedding products.

This is Marjolein Bastin A walk into the woods, spotting birds in the dunes, a trip through the meadows, experiences which bring Marjolein happiness and inspiration. The smallest overlooked details are mainly the lead for Marjoleins work: a lonely ladybug, a happy butterfly, small flowers in the field, all moments in nature which are captured in the work of Marjolein. Marjoleinâ&#x20AC;&#x2DC;s passion for nature has started at a young aged. A strong desire to share this passion with others resulted in drawings which are appreciated by millions of people. All the designs show her love for nature and emphasize that happiness can be found close to home.
