Scholars and the theatre community explore Shakespeare in translation Intercultural Symposium hosted by Globe Education at Shakespeare’s Globe 18 and 19 May 2012 9 May 2012 As the Globe to Globe festival at Shakespeare’s Globe continues performing 37 Shakespeare plays in 37 different languages by theatre companies from around the world, Globe Education is inviting scholars, students, members of the public and the theatrical community to discuss the performance of Shakespeare in translation. Hosted by Dr Farah Karim-Cooper, Head of Courses and Research, Globe Education, the intercultural symposium will explore Shakespeare as a global playwright with keynote addresses by leading international Shakespeare and performance scholars, arts specialists and theatre practitioners on Friday 18 and Saturday 19 May. Speakers at the event will include: Professor Rob Henke, Washington University; Dr Sonia Massai, King’s College London; Dr P.A. Skantze, Roehampton University; and Tom Bird, Globe to Globe Festival Director.

The symposium will also include an optional visit to the Globe to Globe festival to see a production.
