Playing Shakespeare offers students a unique opportunity to spend two weeks at Shakespeare’s Globe exploring Shakespeare in performance. Participants will: watch and discuss the Globe productions of The Taming of The Shrew, Richard III and Henry V meet and talk with Globe Theatre artists involved in the productions discover more about the plays from leading Shakespeare scholars develop your acting skills through working with experienced directors on selected scenes from Shakespeare’s plays share scenes on the Globe Stage receive a certificate upon completion of the course. You are eligible to apply for the course if you: are aged 16 – 19 have an interest in Shakespeare are able to travel to and from the Globe independently are able to provide your own accommodation are competent speakers of English are able to attend one 8 am session on Friday 24th August. Participants will take part in movement, text and voice master classes. They will work with a director to create an ensemble performance of scenes which will be presented on stage at the Globe on Friday 24th August. Course fees: £1400. Fees include all tuition, tickets to the three productions and a final lunch reception on Friday 24th August. Fees do not include meals and refreshments, travel or accommodation (participants will be provided with a 25% discount for Theo’s, the Globe Education, Sackler Studios Cafe).
