Job Description Job Title: Exhibition Assistant (Zero Hours) Reports to: Exhibition Operations Manager (HOD)

Job Context Exhibition Operations Manager (Head of Department) | Exhibition Supervisor(s) | Exhibition Assistant(s) The Exhibitions Operations Manager (Head of Department) is line manager for the Exhibitions function which forms part of The Shakespeare Globe Trust. The Exhibition function is responsible for providing an historical and theatrical context for the first time visitor to the Globe in conjunction with a guided tour of the auditorium itself. Within the SGT business framework the exhibition has been designed to attract a certain volume of visitors that will allow the operation to provide the SGT with a high level of financial contribution per financial year. The Exhibitions Team aims to provide high levels of service to visitors and staff and to maximise visitor revenue in support of the Globe’s mission and objectives. Shakespeare’s Globe is an educational charity administered by the Shakespeare Globe Trust.

Purpose of the Job


To provide the highest quality of service to customers entering the piazza area, including business clients. To actively promote all facets of Shakespeare’s Globe – primarily the Exhibition and guided tour, Gift Shop and Box Office. To sell tickets to those people who take up the quick view option of the theatre and be responsible for tickets sold and monies taken. Principal Responsibilities

To proactively provide information about activities and opportunities on site, both present and future.

To proactively promote the Exhibition and Guided tour and Gift Shop.

To make sure the theatre is only accessed by those with legitimate reason in the company of Globe personnel (e.g. on a guided tour, Globe Education workshop or quick peek visit).

To carry out market research when required by the Communications Department.

To promote and run the sale of tickets to those people who choose the quick view option

To be accountable for tickets sold and monies taken

To keep a record of people coming through the gates via a clicker

To undertake cloakroom and entrance duties during private functions within the exhibition space.

To adhere to all Health and safety guidelines including evacuation procedures and quality standards and keep all working areas clean and tidy.

To be flexible and adaptable as required by the operation of the position. Person Specification

• Good cash handling skills. • Computer literate. • Ability to communicate effectively with a wide range of people. • Able to use initiative and make confident decisions. • Efficient and well organised with excellent attention to detail. • Enthusiastic and able to work under pressure and to deadlines. • Ability to be flexible and adaptable to changing situations and workload. • Experience of working in an exhibition or similar environment.
